This is the place our hotel recommended for dinner.... The food was okay... the place needs to be power washed! Truly, we were seated on the patio ( which over looks the parking lot on one side) Everything was sticky and disgusting including the floor. Stopped here while traveling. They had a 4 star rating so decided to give it a try. As far as the service goes, they were very attentive. The reason for the two stars is reflection on the cleanliness. The food was good if you enjoy a side of flys to go with your meal. The entire restaurant was dirty, dead flys everywhere, included flys that buzzed around your table as you attempted to eat. El Jalisco is absolutely my favorite Mexican restaurant around. I've tried so many over the years and was skeptical to try one off an exit with not much around however this is a gem! The staff is so friendly. They handle large crowds well. The menu is huge. Everything we have ordered has been delicious and well executed. The margaritas are fantastic and a great value. We highly recommend the white dip (served complimentary with chips and salsa), Arroz con Mariscos (shrimp, scallops, rice covered with queso served with guacamole salad). We were there on a Saturday night, so it was busy. Standing room only when we came in the door. We didn't wait long for a table and service was pretty quick. We got the steak fajitas and they didn't disappoint. They were so good!! I'm not sure if the crowd was from locals or travelers, because it's right off of I75, but they were still getting thru the crowd pretty good when we left. We never felt rushed as we sat and talked for a while after dinner so they fet an A+ for that! A truly Mexican atmosphere and I would definitely go again!! read more

Fun, family atmosphere. Didn't expect to find such good, authentic Mexican food in the middle of nowhere. Right next to the Ark Encounter. Generous portions, very good, traditional Mexican home cooking. I had a combination with a tamale and chicken enchilada. Both were delicious, as were the refried beans. Looking for something decent to eat after the Ark Encounter 1/26/24 4:45 pm. Read reviews for El Jalisco and decided to give it a try. Greeted and seated immediately, warm chips and salsa with a delicious white queso immediately brought to our table. Ordered a margarita and Texas Fajita. Hubby ordered a wet burrito. All delicious. Let me tell you, when I think about Mexican food this will never ever come back into my mind. Maybe for one of the most disgusting experiences in my entire life. So one of the most exciting things when it comes to Mexican food is the chips and salsa, the salsa was literally tomato soup with water. Then they gave us a white sauce I think it was ranch with sugar in it. I have no idea what that was. We ordered soup and the soup tasted like meal prep chicken after two weeks or maybe fish? No idea. The waiter keept flipping out when we took to long to order. The tacos tasted like wet meat. It was strange how this experience was please don't get Mexican food in Kentucky. Honestly, for how nice the restaurant looked. The food was so terrible. I had ordered the steak dinner and the meat was so tasteless. Felt like i was chewing on plastic bottle caps. They forgot what seasoning was and their timing was terrible. The service was okay but they would get confused on wether or not they brought our food already. We liked this place a lot. Right off the highway, so it's in a convenient location. They give you a spicy salsa (not my favorite salsa ever) and a ranch dip with your chips. I ordered the Grande Burrito & a regular margarita. Margarita was frozen & very good, not in a small glass. Very colorful interior. Our waiter spoke very little English but he was friendly & tried very hard to understand us. An English speaking staff member came to help him. The burrito was huge & delicious. Very flavorful & the onions inside the burrito were grilled to perfection, which is how I like them. Very clean. Music was a tad loud but not " I gotta get outta here!" We rolled into Williamstown tonight to visit the Ark Encounter. We arrived hungry and looking for something tasty. We found it at El Jalisco!! The complimentary chips and salsa were delicious and hit the spot. The margarita was also delicious. When the entrees arrived we were surprised at the generous portions. Super delicious!! The wait staff was attentive and polite. The music was delightful and enjoyable yet quiet enough so we could talk. Thanks, El Jalisco, for a great meal and night out. Very disappointing... I am not from around here, but the next state over, in Ohio. I am, out here today working on a new construction site in Williamstown, 13 minutes from El Jalisco restaurant with my crew and due to the heavy rain we had yesterday, our work was cut short for the day & so, we are out here again today, to finish where we left off. It is our lunch break & I had found, El Jalisco restaurant thru the maps which was, the closest restaurant to my job site & let me say; I walked in with a good mood today & ready to place our order... But, Domingo, the guy whose handling the front register did ripped me off & cheated me, for my money!!!! ‍ At first, I didn't realized it, but his actions made me questioned myself? I came in and ask for a menu, to place an to-go order for myself & my crew! I asked the cashier Domingo if, they had any lunch special going on? His response was, NO! So, as I continued to look through the menu & seen that, the restaurant's menu, did have a lunch special! So, I went ahead and placed an order for 2; Lunch Shrimp chimichangas & was not too sure yet what, I wanted to order for myself, because I wasnt to hungry & wanted to order something small to eat so, the cashier (Domingo) started to name a few of the food items in the menu & I did not want any of what he was suggesting or recommending so, I placed an order for enchiladas jalisco! He then, pulls his personal cellphone out of his pocket & used his calculator to added up my order. I ended up paying 3; lunch plates for a total of $51.00! Instead of ringing up my order, he opens up the register to hand me my cash change! I was not thinking of anything during that moment & was standing by the register waiting for my food, while holding on to the menu! Instead of standing & waiting, I decided to go have a sit in the waiting room by the main entrance to look thru the menu & to wait for my order! 1 minute later here comes Domingo, looking for me, not sure why but, he had that guilty look on his face. ‍ after letting me know that, my food will take 15 minutes before it's ready! I open the menu and looked at the price for the food that, I just ordered and was confused how $10.75x2 plus $14.95 adds up to $51.00?!! Even if he was to charge me $14.95 each for all 3 orders!!!! I walked in & confronted him about his mistake in a nice, calm voice. But realized that, he looked really upset over me asking him about the over charge on my order! I told him that, I wanted 2; lunch special ($10.95 ea) & not the dinner shrimp chimichangas, which were ($14.75 ea) & 1; enchiladas jalisco ($14.75) & he try to tell me that, my order was not able to be changed for the lunch special because the cooks, had already started with my order, with an upset tone of voice & me not knowing that, I guess I was embarrassing him in front of a few gentleman behind me, that work at the Ark! (Due to confrontation...) So, instead of dealing or handling his mistake with me first, before the 4 young gentleman (s) came up to register to pay for their meals! He tells me, to move aside so, he could pay out the 4 gentleman that dined in, like I wasn't the first one there myself or wasn't a customer today!! Which made me, even more upset!! (Even if, he was to charge me, $14.75 for each of my meals, the subtotal wouldn't even come near a total of $51.00!!) And because he, did not use the register to ring, my order up & not give me my receipt the first time. He went ahead and rung it up, after I noticed his mistake & tried to explain himself, but I wasn't haven't it. He knew what he was doing for doing what he thought, he'll get away with!!! He also charged me a fee for placing an to-go order & an extra $2.50 for a hot sauce which he never told me that, it would be extra for? ‍ The environment for the place looked awesome! The food was great! People in the place, looked happy & all was enjoying their meal! As far as the customer service and a few of the servers standing in one corner just staring you down was insane! Because then, you realize that, your being talked about! ‍ I would most definitely come back & order more food from their but, with precaution because you never know! *scammers everywhere even at their job site!!" ‍ read more

After the Ark Encounter, we wanted a bite and are so we decided to try the Mexican restaurant that was "next door". So glad we did. Beautiful Mexican style artwork everywhere and friendly servers on top of that. Their menu had dishes we hadn't heard of before but while the names were Spanish, they were described in English in the menu. Portions were hearty and the food turned out to be delicious.
