We usually enjoy our meals at this establishment, which is why we don't mind making the 30 minute drive over. Unfortunately, our experience last night was not one we would want to repeat. Knowing if we didn't get there for dinner early, we would have a wait on our hands, we got there around 5 pm. From the minute we walked in the door, we felt rushed. While service was prompt and the waitress was nice, she just became annoying with her push for us to order. We no sooner ordered our steak fajitas, then out they came, tasting barely warm, old and reheated. The chips were stale. Even our grilled vegetables weren't very warm. Overall, a very disappointing experience for what we paid. I am sure we will be back at some point, and hopefully the food will be better. read more

Fantastic spot! We were short on time and chose this place because it was nearby -- and we're so glad we did. We were seated immediately, and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and polite. We started with the chips and cheese with chicken. I was expecting nachos, so I had a little "aha" moment when it arrived -- just like the menu said, it was chips with a cup of cheesy dip, and it was delicious. For my meal, I had the half rack of ribs with a side salad and baked beans. The salad didn't look particularly exciting, but it was fresh and flavorful. The baked beans were possibly the best I've ever had, and the ribs were tender and tasty. I only wish we hadn't been in such a rush -- I would have loved to savor it all a bit more. My husband picked up the Chicken Potpie for a gathering of 6 adults. The instructions were not specific on how to cook it from frozen versus thawed and since he purchased it frozen, he assumed the directions were for it being frozen. Well, it was STILL frozen when he took it out of the oven and the rest of the meal was ready. So, that was disappointing! But not as disappointing as the taste of the Chicken Potpie. I have never purchased this meal at the restaurant, so I had know what I was getting. It is basically canned cream of chicken soup (or taste like it) over a bag of frozen vegetables with a little bit of dry, chewy chunks of chicken thrown in and topped with cooked Grand biscuits, broken up pieces and crumbs. It was very unappealing to look at and even worse to eat. For that price I expected much more quality and quantity. Never again! read more

First off, the food is good. No denying that. My issues is the lack of checks and balances on the take-out orders. Recently ordered food for four people (gave up on the on-line ordering. Had to call in). The woman who answered the phone kept interrupting my wife as she was giving the order to do something away from the phone so my wife wasn't sure if she had gotten the previous order down when asking for the next order when she came back to the phone. The existing order include two (2) sandwich meals which included a side for each. The woman taking the order asked which side was wanted and was told. A third order included a sandwich with au jus sauce. When the order was picked-up, it was recommended by the woman behind the counter to double-check the order to make sure everything was there. In leu of opening every container there on the counter, I checked the ticket and the ticket matched up on what I was told was ordered. When getting back to the house which was across town from the restaurant, it was discovered that the two (2) sides with the sandwich meals had not been included and the au jus sauce had not be included. As much as I hated it, I got back in my vehicle and went back to the restaurant. Once there I explained the issues and showing my receipt, I expected them to get the sides and the au jus sauce and let me be on my way. I was then informed that the sides were never ordered based on what the ticket said. The young woman then asked me if I wanted my sides and I'm thinking I wouldn't drive across town just to not get what I thought had been ordered. I told her yes and she told the girls to ring me up for two sides and then apologized for the au jus sauce. Unfortunately for me, I was not returned my original receipts to see if I had been originally charged for my sides and didn't think about it until I had returned home. After waiting a few minutes for my sides to be cooked(?), they brought them out and I drove back across town to eat my now, cold sandwich and hot side with my family. My point to all this is that the restaurant personnel recommended to me to check my order (has this happened before with items being left off?) which I did with the receipt. Yes I share some blame by not opening every container on the countertop to make sure everything was there but shouldn't they restaurant share some blame too? Saying sorry does not pay for mileage and gas and frustration that the customer had to go through to return to the restaurant for an order mix-up. read more

Dropped by during a family road trip. Arrived at 7 PM on a Thursday night and they said there's a 40 min wait. Obviously this place is popular with the locals. We had thought about ordering to-go, but they said the food would probably take at least 30 min to cook. So, we decided to dine-in. We were texted after a 30 min wait. Was seated immediately and after getting our drinks we ordered. There is quite a selection of food on their menu with prices being fairly reasonable. A very popular spot in Ruston that we don't even try to go to normally because the wait times are absurd. We (party of 2) were lucky to arrive for Saturday lunch at around 10:55am and were seated immediately. Our waitress greeted us promptly and once we ordered, food didn't take too long. My friend got the chicken enchiladas which she said were just okay and on the tough side. For me, the mesquite grill is where it's at. I don't believe there is anything else like it in Ruston. I got the loaded hamburger steak with hand cut fries. Good, but again, not really worth standing around to wait for it. Also a little on the expensive side. $44 all together is too much for what you're getting here (2 meals, 1 drink, +tax & tip), but we'll be back again sometime when the parking lot is empty. read more

As an alumna visiting Ruston, this place was toward the top of our list of places to go. Our waitress was Cassidy, and she was extremely attentive. I ordered the chicken Caesar wrap, and my husband had the one-meat plate. While the broccoli was extremely seasoned and quite salty, it was still full of flavor. My wrap was also really good. They don't offer corn tortillas (for those with gluten allergies), but I took my Gluten Cutter tablets and was fine. My husband enjoyed browsing the store after our meal and liked how you can buy smoking chips, seasonings, and meals to heat later. read more

I would suggest getting there early because after 5:30pm there is a long wait. They also have a market where you can get a variety of already prepared frozen food that you can take home and heat up. (Funny it didn't show up on my Apple Maps when I searched Restaurants nearby ). Google reviews looked great so I went back. The menu was overwhelming, it was a long time since breakfast and I wanted everything. I asked my server Avery for a suggestion and she was spot on, chicken fried chicken. It was delicious. Freshly made. Dessert was peach bread pudding with ice cream. If you are traveling through, do yourself a favor and stop here.
