Our local greasy spoon. Not sure how this place continues to do business. The beans taste like the rice, and the rice tastes like the corn chips, and the corn chips taste like the queso. For $38 we ordered the mixed three person fajita, with grilled onions and peppers, a container, large, of rice and another with beans, homemade flour tortillas, a box of pico and guacamole. I stopped in for an early dinner and chose special dinner #18. Two beef tacos, queso and a creamy chicken enchilada. The meal started off wIth lots of chips and salsa. Salsa was served warm and slightly chunky. Tacos were basic, ground meat, cheese, lettuce and tomato. and a queso puffed tortilla The chicken enchilada was very tasty. If you follow my reviews, you know I'm not big on Tex Mex. We however eat a lot of Tex Mex, especially when we visit Texas. I know the difference between good Tex Mex and crap. This place has good food. The service is very quick and friendly. Drinks are reasonable. read more

Delicious watermelon drink! I ordered mine with Vodka bc I'm not a tequila fan and it was yummy! Very accommodating staff - I wanted a special variety of enchiladas and they offered it up with no issues. Meal was great - especially the spinach enchilada. read more

Our family owns some property in Hockley that we visit frequently. El Jimador is very convenient when we want to eat out. We are salsa & margarita snobs and have to say both are pretty darn good. Main courses are as good as any Mexican restaurant around. Not a very fancy place. Service has been good. They have a nice outdoor patio to enjoy - weather permitting. read more

I love El Jimador, BUT they started charging for green salsa. $2.95 for a small cup. I've never paid extra Inside or take home, and I order take home a lot, I asked what's the extra charge for? Oh salsa! Then I get home and I have no green salsa. They'll be making good on that. Be careful! charging for salsa........there are MANY good Tex Mex places to choose from that don't charge extra, just a slight different route home for me! read more

Service a few times was good. The last few times I came and we usually sit outside and when we did there was a table that wasn't clean and there were flies everywhere. They finally got the dirty dishes off but never wiped the table off and it got on everything at the table. We told the waitress but didn't seem to care and never wiped it off and finally moved to the inside. Then we ordered my food and didn't even bring me what I ordered. My drink was always empty and I always had to get up to get a refill. We even tip good and my family runs restaurant's and there might have been 1 more table than us. They seemed not to care. For Friday night, I went to eat with a friend. The chips were over cooked and dark brown. The wait staff was busy and doing their best to keep up with the crowds, and they were SLOW!! The food was decent for the price with the exception of the over fried chips. My biggest compliant is the cashier that could not even be bothered to make eye contact or speak a single word. If she took a moment of her time to say Hi, state the price or say anything close to "Thank you" it would show her humanity. NOT A WORD left her mouth. RUDE. The other side commentary of this place is the evident aging booths and chairs. Why should I sit on torn vinyl and deal with a snotty cashier? I do not have to deal with it and will not be likely to return. read more

I had read mixed reviews and we were wanting to see if it was any goid before taking a large group of friends there next weekend. We ordered some appetizers and guac to go. Portions were so small.
