Once upon a time this was the best in Anderson. Now it is a shell of a previous restaurant. The service was good but the food is luke warm at best. They bring out the dishes with pot holders but for why? The plates are cool and the food is warm not hot. The cheese is not melted on the food. The chips are not very good. Service is absolutely horrible! They do not listen at all!! I ordered a burrito with a few extra things inside. Instead, they gave me a dry tortilla with every single thing on the side and charged me WAY EXTRA for every single thing!!!! When i kindly mention to the server that it was wrong, she put the plates down and walked away. Once i asked for the manager and asked if we could at least get a few things off since it wasn't what i wanted he looked at me and told me "No. Because so and so." We paid $50 for TRASH. Waiter with the sumo-ponytail is dicey as heck. We have eaten here hundreds of times over the years but today was the last time because the waiter was awful. I ordered a diet coke, the "waiter" brought me a diet coke that was clear in color. Stevie Wonder could've noticed it was all carbonation. (I was in the restroom when he brought it or I would've said something the second he left it.) The "waiter" comes back over and I said "there's no syrup in this diet coke, may I please have another one?" He responds with "machine is broken". So, you knew the machine was broken but you went ahead and brought me this glass of carbonation and thought I wouldn't notice? Fool. I guess I'll just stick with this glass of warm tap water you brought then. (yummy) We ordered a "TABLE-SIDE GUACAMOLE" - We were here last week and ordered the table-side guacamole and guess what, The waitress made it at. the. table. Even asked us if we wanted it mild or hot, with jalapeño etc. Today the "waiter" plops a bowl of guacamole on the table as he's passing by. "I guess you made it at someone else's table", I said this to myself because he was already gone. After we were done eating we waited and waited and waited for a to-go box. I finally got up and got one myself. He also never brought us an itemized check, just gave us the little credit card machine with the total on the front. I asked to see the receipt because I didn't like or trust this guy as far as I could throw him. There's so much opportunity to overcharge and scam customers by not giving them an itemized receipt. You should Always ask for an itemized bill. He brought me a paper receipt after I requested one and the $3 was still on there for the glass of carbonation I returned. I had to ask him to take it off the bill. If I were the owner of this restaurant I'd give him a different job not dealing with customers. I'm pretty sure he didn't speak three words of English either and that's a pretty significant quality to have as a waiter waiting on tables in a restaurant in small town America. We won't be returning for a long while. Moral of this review - Protect yourself and always ask to see an itemized receipt for your meal. First time I've ever been to any restaurant that doesn't give you a receipt but just hands you a credit card machine with the total on the front. That is bothersome. read more

This is me and my friends go to Mexican restaurant in the Anderson area. The chips and salsa are exactly what you want in quality and taste when you're craving Mexican food. I have ordered the fajita quesadillas, which are honestly not the best I've had, but this time I just got the fajitas and they were to die for. we arrived at the restaurant at 12:11. we placed our order with the waitress. She said it would be 5 to 10 minutes. We continued to wait for 40 minutes. we asked how much longer for our food. I don't give out many one stars but tonight was horrendous. We walked in around 7:30pm for dinner. The young lady at the hostess station took the number in our party and left. Like really left. Like never came back, kind of left. Another person, after 5 minutes, walks up, asks how many, and shows us to our seats...which there were plenty of tables open. Lucky for us, we were seated behind a group of four that were there to scream and wrestle. We got our menus. My husband ordered a margarita. I did also, but I added "small" to the order. My husband ended up with a large which he didn't really want but kept, drank half, and paid for it. They did not have my flavor...they only had three flavors, so I re-ordered one of the flavors they did have. We sat with the menus in front of us for another 20 minutes. No one came to take our order. Finally, a young man showed up, acting very impatient, and took the order. We waited another 30 minutes. Finally, our food showed up. My husband's order was wrong. When we both had our orders, the sauces on the food were so salty, they were inedible. We basically ate the rice and veggies that we drained of sauce. After we had had our food for 20 minutes, the server shows up to ask how everything is. I tell him it's not good...way too salty. He shrugs. I can think of lots of other more satisfying ways to spend $40+. Sorry, this used to be our favorite local Mexican restaurant. The food and service were great. Not any more. Not sure why but please don't tell me you are short-handed because I had a horrible experience and was still charged the full-handed amount. This is probably the most consistently good Mexican restaurant in Anderson. Service is fast and friendly. The salsa and queso are excellent. Portions are large. My favorite is the carnitas with a side of pico and lime. The pico is always so fresh and delicious. The carnitas are tender and perfectly seasoned. Even the rice is just amazing. So flavorful. Worst experience at a restaurant EVER! I got there on time and no one knew about my order. Eventually someone knew what GrubHub was...once I showed my receipt. THEN they started my order. The manager told me that it was my fault for not calling it in. My fault? The 24 year old manager was extremely rude. I asked to speak to the owner. He said that he was never there. Manager eventually gave me his number but added that he wouldn't answer. "Chris", the manager, scoffed at me, laughed more, and waved goodbye in a childish and sarcastic way. It's hard to mess up mexican food, but the ground meat tasted burnt. It took a good while to get our food, which is unusual, as these places are pretty quick. My food was cold in spots. They were busy, you couldn't even tell they were socially distancing, as the place was so packed. We had to ask for refills, to-go boxes, and our bill. This place has become our go-to destination for Mexican food. We have been a number of times now and have had only positive experiences. The folks who work here are friendly and accommodating, and the food is well prepared and delicious. I like the hard shell tacos (always), the chili relleno, the stuffed chili pepper (poblano filled with potato and cheese, covered with sauce/cheese), the vegetarian burrito, the awesome salsa bar - the white salsa is my favorite, the vege fajitas, and more that I cannot bring to mind at the moment. We have had the tableside guacamole where they make it fresh right at your table. I was not impressed. They used way too much lime and it overpowered the whole dish. El Jimador is a pretty standard "American" Mexican restaurant, and maybe one of the better ones in Anderson (which isn't saying much!). Their food & menu are fairly typical, but they're consistent and do a decent job of providing service. I like their beef chimichangas as well as their burritos. And they have a good house salsa. If you're looking for a reasonably priced Mexican restaurant with decent food, El Jimador is a good spot to go -- especially for lunch. This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants...the atmosphere, the staff, the fresh chips, the salsa bar, and the margaritas! Tonight we shared the El Comal, tamale, chills rellejeno and a soft taco...took pics of all. Our waitress, Jackie was amazing as our waitress! the food/drink service was awesome. They provide chips and a variety of sauces/salsas for you to enjoy including a ranch style sauce which compliments spicier options quite well.
