My parents favorite local restaurant in Anderson SC. For you older folk the building is where Capri's use to be off Main St. I got a Stella Artois on draft so that was a plus. My entree was salmon tacos which prolly wouldn't get again not because it wasn't good just not much salmon. The salsa is not hot only mild from chips initially bring out; fresh guacamole slices served w entrees. I paid for 4 adults and it was only $53 which I was surprised. Bargain meal. read more

Heard rave reviews from friends so we thought to check it out one evening. Complimentary chips & salsa were brought out very promptly which I had taken for granted until a recent encounter at another location. We were amused to that an independent Mex resto is doing a 'Wednesday Wing Day (60¢ per piece)' promo. Wings come with generous amount of sauce. Had the beef taco and they were yummy, not gamy. Will have to return soon to check out the other foods on the menu. From what I saw on the other tables, this place is promising. I must return. Typical decor, and many of the food items are typical of most local Mexican restaurants. However, there are many items on the menu that are truly delicious and authentic. I particularly enjoyed the chiles poblanos! The Chile empanizado is another exceptional choice. I asked for them to put the sauce on the side because I love the fresh, mild Chile flavor without the sauce overpowering the entire dish. All in all, it's worth trying if you are looking for a more authentic experience. read more

This is our first time trying out this restaurant and I will have to say that it's quite nice inside. They have the Mexican theme orchestrated delightfully. Since we came in on Saturday, the lunch special is not offered which compliments a drink. It only runs from Monday- Thursday. But they still have lunch menu just not as cheap during those days. Anyways, I ordered shredded beef chimichanga which is very tasty and yummy. I told them to make it a little crunchier and perfected its way to my tummy. We also had enchiladas which was ordered from the regular menu and you can pick the filling from cheese, chicken, to beef. Alex gobbled it up with no hesitation. I was in town for a show and this place was two miles from the venue. The place wasn't very busy for a Friday evening but it was before 6pm. The food was decent and the portions were good but nothing really stood out. I would come here again and/or suggest to friends. read more

I have been here several times in the past but I am done with this place. The last two times I went in they charged me more than the price listed on the menu. Just last night they charged me 50% more than listed on the menu. I paid my tab and left.... I really wonder whether this action is intentional and they see if they can get away with it?!?! I probably should have called them on it but it is easier for me just not to go back! Omg, my experience here was nothing short of amazing! I'm traveling from Atlanta to SC and I spotted this little hidden gem on my way. Prior to going in, I had my hubby ask if we could bring our dog out on the patio while we enjoyed a margarita ( no lie...I was almost into the restaurant and remembered my doggie-daughter was still in the backseat of my car, terrible mom, right?) anywho, they said I could.....yayyyy!!! Our server brought us out some margaritas and they were sooo good!!! We enjoyed our margaritas and my doggie enjoyed the chips (pets eat free!). We often visit on Thursday evenings with friends to have the happy hour margaritas and dinner. The food and the staff are great.

i love the food!! however, every time we order on doordash and go to pick it up the food is always cold. also they always forget part of our order, usually the most simplest things. tonight they forgot our cheese dip we do not get refunded or offered something for our troubles. i don't know if it's just the restaurant or if it's doordash (i think doordash) but i am upset about it. read more

This was our first time here, wow! Extremely fast service. The staff was super friendly. They have an extensive menu for food and drinks. We got our food in less than ten minutes and the portions are huge, you definitely get your money's worth. The food was fresh and the plates look yummy! We will definitely be back! read more

Now this is the El Arriero! This one is owned by completely different people and they know what they are doing. Food is excellent, service great, and a cool little watering hole in the back of the place. Hats off to the staff and it's management. I am an assistant manager & hostess at a highly reviewed restaurant, I have worked in many recognizable restaurants in town & love trying new places & supporting our local businesses. But Tonight I had 3 separate servers all of which did not speak English, I ordered a happy hour margarita and was charged full price. After we got our food, mine being a small, dry cracked portion of beans & rice and two soggy tacos, my fiancé seemed to like his okay. we were on our own, flagging people down for things we needed. Told them I would never be back. Luckily knew the owner, a very nice lady. She contacted me, apologized, & hopefully will be rectifying the situation so we can enjoy her restaurant. Still not the best, but I'm at least willing to go back for a second try. read more

I liked the one on hwy 24......well atleast a while back, haven't eaten there in a couple of years now I guess since they put one day the road from my home where the old Capri's was. Well, I had eaten at the new one with a friend and it was not horrible but wasn't good either. So, I had not been back since the other night and well that pretty much done it for me.....here's why The waitress did not speak English well enough to have her waiting tables....I understand it is a Mexican restaurant, but it is in America, and I am not racists (my X was Mexican). So I had to go up front to the cashier and ask him to make sure our waitress understood our order. We ordered Chorizo and it was soooooo dry and well the food all together was just not good......enough said...won't go back and pay those prices again when there are other choices that are better. read more

I'm a server myself so I am so patient and understanding but this was unapologetically horrible service. I am pretty sure the owner & the owners wife was serving us so I would have expected better. I didn't care for the salsa but the cheese dip and chicken quesadilla was good. I hated to even pay for my meal because of how awful the service was. Of I could give this place 0 stars I would, we had a party of 11, they brought out our food a couple of plates at a time. Probably 45 minutes between the first and the last. Brought wrong orders, cold food, got people's orders mixed up, no tortillas. They made excuses on how their cook quit & they had a new one. After all this, the topper is they would never bring out a manager, and would only discount 1 cold meal and one they didn't get right until we walked out the door. read more

One of the best restaurants in Anderson in terms of taste, service, and quality for money spent. The staff all works together very well to assure a good experience. We eat here every Sunday for lunch and I've never once had a negative thing to say. read more

This place is awesome! You can't beat $1 tacos on Mondays. I'm not giving a good review because I know the staff, they are just too friendly not to be friends with, but the food is great! The place is very clean and if you do smoke it will not bother the customers on the other side of the wall. Great drink specials and they get it right the first time. I've passed it for a couple of months and there are usually cars so I stopped by. Regrets! nice staff but the food was nothing to write home about. Canned salsa, store bought chips. I could have done this at home. Maybe they didn't have a cook to make it from scratch on the day I tried it. Anyway, I ordered a basic combo plate - I try tacos everywhere so I know where I can get a good one. Although the meat was somewhat seasoned, the rest was just okay. The enchilada was awful, I'm not sure what the sauce was so I ate the insides. Oh well, maybe there are better for happy hour but I doubt it. read more

Extremely disappointed,the resturaunt looks like your in for some real good food, sadly the food probably the most disappointing food I've had in a loooong time. Im fat, like stereotypically fat, is there any food i don't like? Now there is. I go in, look at the menu, i like the pictures, im salivating. I order cheese dip with my chips. The chips come, typical chip, so far so good, the salsa just tastes like tomatoes, i can't tell if it's trying to be a spicy red sauce like some places do, or if it's teying to be a salsa, i cried in my head for an onion amd cilantro at least! While putting salt and pepper in. The cheese dip has a very sharp taste, white cheddar? Fontina? Not cotija, not salsa con queso. I order the big man combo, a burrito, a chalupa, a tostada, taco, a chile relleno, this must be their best foot forward for sure... Psych! The red flag was when i wasn't asked what kind of meat, everything ground beef. The chile relleno was embarrassing, just an ice cream scoop of beef with the salty white cheddar again. The beef has no seasoning, the taco didn't leak at the bottom like a good tacos do! Theres no sign of red pepper, or Chile powder, or even garlic in anything. The chalupa was just another ground beef burrito next to my other ground beef burrito with more salty white cheese. The best thing was the tostada, a tortilla, beans, lettuce a classicexican filler item. No Pico, just a big 1/4 of a tomato on top. I had to take the tostada and flip it on the burrito just to stand the burrito. This place is taking advantage of South Carolina, and are an insult to their culture. A broken clock is right at least twice a day. read more
