I hate giving bad reviews, but this one deserves it. First, the okay (nothing was great): the beer was beer, the atmosphere was okay, the staff was nice, location was good The bad: Chips were stale, served in a small basket, tasted like off brand Tostitos and they were slow on bringing a new chip basket. Queso was congealed and lumpy, and after asking them to microwave it up to liquify it a bit, same issue when we got it back. Salsa was terrible (tried a bunch of them, nothing good) and the cups were too small to dip a chip in them. My wife got the beef nachos, that came cold and the beef was tasteless, not to mention the same issue with the cold queso on the nachos. I got a Milanese (might have messed up the spelling), which is breaded and fried beef with tortillas, salad, rice and beans. The beef wasn't good at all, the tortillas were okay, the rice didn't taste seasoned and the beans were watered down enough to the consistency of soup. To top it all off, this place was on the expensive side of Mexican food. If you're in Anderson looking for Mexican, just go up Hwy 81 to Papas and Beer. read more

Cafeteria grade food at its worst! Started the order with a cold FLAT beer. After bringing it to the waitresses attention she said she was advised to not serve any more beer from tap. Then we saw another table get served one a few minutes later. We ordered the Texas Nachos which had a cheese sauce, that literally had zero cheese flavor. Honestly, canned nacho cheese would have been welcomed. The white "cheese" sauce was just thickened milk, no cheese. The meat on it was cold and old. The shrimp was literally cold in the center and the steak was hard and chewy, so much so I gave up chewing after a few minutes. No veggies or items on top to qualify as nachos. Both the nachos and tacos came out together in about five minutes or less. So, the food is NOT made to order. It appeared to be RTE, which is not what you would expect from a sit down full service restaurant. Even taco trucks make the food to order! My husband and I ordered two taco's each, pastor and chorizo. It came out in one basket, I guess for us to take turns eating. It's not a good sign when we couldn't tell the tacos apart. They had zero flavor and one small scoop of some kind of meat each. But I will be very excited if we don't get sick from them. While there we also witnessed the chips baskets are pre done and stacked on top of one another in totes. So the bottom of the baskets that have been on every dirty table touches the top of your chips, which were stale. Yum! Well, we tried it and can hopefully save someone from a disappointing dining experience. Don't waste your time or money here! read more

Such a shwae local Mexican restaurant in downtown Andy!! On Tuesdays they have $1.50 tacos! Their pork taco was by far my favorite. I also tried the chicken, but it was a little bit dry and lacking in flavor. The guac is dank and fresh, but they don't provide chips and salsa with your meal. It's pretty cheap though so you can get a good amount of food for what you pay for. I will be coming here again for sure. read more

We found this spot on a Sunday while checking out the downtown area. We were greeted when we came in, invited to seat ourselves and a server came shortly thereafter to take our drink order. The restaurant's back room has plenty of table and booth seating and well lit. We enjoyed the "churnos" w/ a variety of sauce options prior to our meals arriving. I had the Enchiladas Verdes and this entree had me at "topped with fresh cheese, onions & cilantro." All the entrees came out in a very timely fashion and each in my party enjoyed what they ordered. I am very careful when I leave a review that is not stellar for a restaurant, we were in downtown Anderson and needed some lunch, we saw taco Loco, so we figured we would give it a try. When I go to Mexican restaurant, I would like a basket of Nacho chips to dip salsa or whatever they have. They did have a very nice salsa bar but when we got fried pork rind wheels that resembled a wagon wheels that held no salsa and tasted flavorless, I knew that this might be disappointing. I know they're trying to get their business up and running but this was the first indication that did not impress me, the second thing that I found unusual was the limited selection on the menu and was very sparse, we got beef tacos they were very good with fresh made tortilla shells. Those were delicious and we got chicken nachos, mostly because we could not decide what we wanted to pick from because the menu was very limited and not very intuitive. I hope that they get their business straightened out. I really would like them to succeed. I am not sure if we'll be back. When I get a bad first impression in a restaurant, I typically do not go back. read more

Very happy! The food is good, the staff are so friendly and courteous. They have outside sitting or inside, your choice. We didn't wait long for food. The menu is simple, with the ability to order one or more items. In other words, order one taco, two, three or order a quesadilla, or two or more. If you are just a little hungry or like me can't eat a lot then it's perfect but you are really hungry they have plates too. It's a small place. Don't let that throw you off. It really is good. Our family Loves Taco Loco! The food is fresh and the service is kind. We're especially BIG fans of their new salsa bar! They have a orange hot sauce that is full of flavor and oh so memorable - My husband and I can't get enough! I've tired almost everything on the menu and never disappointed! I didn't personally like this place very much because of their lack of vegetarian options. This place is pretty small inside, so we had to wait a few minutes for a table, but we were greeted right away. The menu is very authentic and the food was delicious. I had a pollo torta with beans and my husband tried a few different tacos and the grilled jalapeño. We also had chips and guac as an appetizer. I got the Al Pastor huaraches and pescado tacos and my companion got the Al Pastor sopes and alambre huaraches and we also got a guac appetizer. Everything was flavorful and fresh! Went on a slow weekday evening. Presumably the owner took our order and drinks. He was super friendly and attentive. I had tacos she had chicken and rice, we split the guacamole. The guac was freshly made and fantastic! Next time however I'll ask for jalapeño in it. Our food and experience was top notch and I will be back as they had many authentic items I'd love to try. Authentic. Delicious. Top quality. Taco Loco is a staple in Downtown Anderson. Their customer service is second to none, and their menu quality is even better. I visit them at least once per week, and I've never had a single problem. I get my items to-go, which is often a way to get "less" food at most restaurants, but not Taco Loco. If you aren't familiar with authentic Mexican food, start with the tacos....any way you like them. The pico de gallo is incredibly fresh. This isn't salsa. Try it. You're welcome.
