Husband and I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon. Busy, but service was great (Pauletta I believe, 5 stars)! Started with Papas Locas. Crazy to get topped french fries at a Mexican Restaurant, but the picture in the menu looked fun to try. These were nice fries with some skin on, not frozen tasting. Husband had the Burrito Verde. He had no complaints except the rice is a bit plain. I agree about the rice... but they all can't be winners. I had the Chimichanga Vegetarian and YUMMM! This is our new favorite Mexican restaurant in Ooltewah! Friendly staff, and we are always seated in a timely manner. My husband has had the fajitas (huge portions) and the taco salad (which has the best shell/bowl I've ever tasted). I normally get the pollo con queso - which is fantastic in my book. My experiences here have always been decent, not amazing, and always a little weird. Most recently we had some lunch there. The food came out fast and correct but the runner spoke so fast I couldn't understand what he was saying. Every time I've ordered a salad here it has been not what I've expected. Today was my first time going here. I went mainly because of the good reviews I had read and heard about it. However I was very disappointed. I ordered a taco salad figuring that it was hard to mess up a taco salad. Boy was I wrong. What I got was more like a big taco. Nothing like a salad at all. Very disappointing service. A friend and I ordered from the waiter who then disappeared. We waited around 45 minutes for our waiter to come back, or for anyone to notice we had been sitting with empty cups and a finished basket of chips and salsa. Nobody said a word. The food at this restaurant is mediocre at best. Recently when there was some confusion on our order, the manager was very rude and condescending. The food is very basic and bland, with nothing setting it apart from other cheap Mexican restaurants. But it is the service and the way we were treated by management that will ensure I will never return. read more

Not impressed at all. Who has a to- go charge, just for placing a take- out order? These guys. That was the first thing that threw me of about this place. Great neighborhood place! Always busy but service is fast. The Mexican tacos had lots of flavor with plenty of fresh cilantro and the spicy sauce it comes with was excellent. But next time we order the chorizo queso dip we will ask them to please drain the chorizo before putting it into the queso, it was swimming in grease. Reviews were good so we had hoped this would be our go-to-mexican place in barren desert of Chattanooga Mexican dining options. Wife ordered the stuffed poblanos and I ordered Arnanda's special which included steak, chicken , chorizo. We both enjoyed our dishes well enough though the cheese on mine was sparse. Why cannot a place serve decent salsa in this town? My wife makes much better at home than they serve here which seems to be just tomato sauce. That is your first impression and they blew it here. Sad. I thought the chips were fine but my wife prefers a thinner type. Tortillas seemed to not be homemade but could be wrong about that. We ordered the Jinete Special which was supposed to be a cheese dip with ground beef and pico. It had a thin, almost imperceptible, layer of cheese on top and the rest was mush, greasy ground beef. Was a huge disappointment. Service was fine and drink specials looked good though we did not partake. Will we go back? Probably someday but in no hurry. Great salsa! Love the California Burrito. Same owners as a middle Tennessee franchise called Camino Real. Great to have them here.

This has become our Go-To Mexican Restaurant! I like the fact that it is VERY clean and the service has always been fast and friendly. I have not had anything bad here so far. Whatever cheese they use in their Quesadillas is the best we've ever had! The prices are great and you leave full! If you order one of their mixed drinks, it WILL have a lot of alcohol in it! I thought restaurants in this area would be vegetarian-friendly because of the Adventist college nearby. I was 100% wrong. I ordered from the vegetarian section of the menu but the refried beans from the vegetarian section of the menu have lard (pig fat) in them. We were starving and exhausted from driving 10 hours, and had more driving ahead of us. I spoke with the manager who was very rude and confrontational with me. The manager told me that if I actually wanted vegetarian food, I should have ordered the WHOLE BEANS instead of refried beans. How was I supposed to know that???? I mean, the refried beans were on the vegetarian section of the menu. They did replace our lard beans with whole beans at no cost. We were starving and didn't have the energy to ask about the rice, which I'm guessing is made with chicken stock. Unfortunately, my nachos with steamed veges were terrible, soggy and tasteless. The white sauce had no flavor at all. I so wished we went to Taco Bell or driven a little further to Chattanooga where there are lots of amazing vegetarian-friendly restaurants to choose from. read more

The shrimp was excellent I enjoyed the outside area. We had a lot of fun and the service was very good. The chips and salsa were good we also had what they called the el real dip and it was excellent. I would go back again for sure. Cobo margarita is also a winner. read more

So we've eaten here twice. The first time we had good service and were surprised on how well the food tasted. Granted we had low expectations. Living in the area for five years we almost never leave a restaurant and say "that was as good as the reviews on Yelp." Went there a second time stlll skeptical. The salsa was watery and bland. I had the steak fajitas and they were awful. The steak was over cooked and dried out and the whole plate was bland almost flavorless. The service was not good either. We almost left before we even got asked about drinks because we had waited so long for someone to notice us sitting there. Our cups were never refilled either even though they sat empty for at least half the time we were there. Sad I had high hopes. The service was amazing. The food took a little long to come out because the place was packed but the server kept bringing more chips and salsa while we waited. I had customers standing over me on both sides of my table talking loudly back and forth. 5 mins later one of the same customers hollered at another customer who was walking by the other side of my table, they then proceeded to reach over my head to shake hands and talk. The service at this place is not very good. If you are there with more than one person they will bring your food out one plate at a time. When a group is polite and won't start eating until everyone is served then the first plate brought out is cold. There is a girl that waits tables that is very rude. We went there 2 days ago. We asked for more chips and salsa. She copped an attitude and never did bring us any. She did not even bring our food we ordered. Another waiter did. The only time she showed back up was to bring us the ticket to pay and it was not even correct. I guess you can tell she did not get a tip. Another person in our family left her .25 cents. This is average Mexican Food for our local area. It is Tex-Mex the tamale's are pretty good. They have several beers on tap and happy hour Monday through Thursday. It is always consistently average.... never bad never outstanding. I would recommend if in the area but not worth an out of your way drive. read more

We go here regularly (once a week). The food is good but the service is terrible compared to most restaurants. We also have to scrutinize the check as it is wrong in their favor all of the time. We went here last week. Both of us had the flautas. They were excellent, the service was good and the margaritas were also good. Now to the others. The salsa was absolutely the worst I have ever had in a Mexican establishment. My God don't they know that it is more than tomatoes! Now comes the bill. It is just a cash register recipe with no notation as to what we had. Dah, we do,live in the computer age. I could not take that to my company and get reimbursed for a business event. I'd like to begin by saying that the service was excellent. The waitress was what you would expect, kind, welcoming, and helpful. The restaurant in itself is well done, and the environment is great. Our group of four ended up sitting outside which is well done also. The food came in a timely manner and all four of us enjoyed our meal. While I have to say the price is just a tiny bit higher than I would like it, it was still good. This was my wife and I second time here. I am pleased to have some yummy mexican food in Ooltewah. However their salsa is a little to much of a tomato taste, could use some cilantro and jalapeno. Their proportion are huge, I love their shrimp they serve the big ones the size of a half dollar. We came in for lunch I got the $7 fajitas and blown away by the porpotion. Also if your drinking draft beer, it is cheaper to drink the 16oz. I.e. the dos equis on draft is 2.25 per 16oz or 4.50 per 32oz. You can do the math on the .75 up charge. Over all a few tweaks and this will be a prime spot in ooltewah. read more

My husband and I had lunch on a Friday, we were there at 1:00. It was not very busy at all- that should have been our clue. As others have mentioned - the terrible salsa. It is not salsa at all, hello if you are a Mexican Restaurant and you don't have good salsa, what else is wrong. LOTS. My husband had the special which was fajitas. It was burned over -cooked dry tough chicken. No real Mexican flavors at all. Tasteless guacamole . We asked for lime with our Diet Coke and they were so old and dry that there was no juice in them. I never take the time to write a bad review because I try to be respectful, but this was just so bad on so many levels that I hope they will try to be better. It is a really cute restaurant in a great location and they could have a dynamic business but they have to serve Real Mexican food and most of all good quality and fresh food and good Salsa. read more
