Ate at El Cactus for Father's Day. Food was awesome, but service was terrible. We got seated quickly and our order was taken in a timely manner, by a very efficient and nice waitress. It took forever for our food to be brought to us and one of the dinners was not as ordered. They gladly took it back to correct their error. It took some time to get it back, as we were about to leave when it was delivered. Would go back to try again, but will never go back if service is not improved. Been there several times and this is a first, but hope it's not the norm. read more

Only reason I am giving two stars is because my sons burrito was good. I tasted the chicken in it and it was tasty. I ordered a steak and eggs meal from lunch menu. The eggs were EXTREMELY overdone. I asked the waiter and he said that is how it is supposed to be cooked. The steak was like rubber and I never got the corn tortillas I asked for. Got flour. Only thing on my plate I was able to eat was the beans. We came in a Saturday afternoon. We will not be coming back. read more

This place gets super busy & actually has a wait sometimes to get in. I went Sunday afternoon at 11, and by noon there was a wait outside. Cheese dip was basic but good. They have a lunch menu 7 days a week so I went ahead and ordered the Steak lunch fajitas, and the hubby order the single size pineapple/shrimp fajitas pictured below. Wow! Everything was seasoned great! The shrimp were perfect, and that's hard to find a good shrimp fajitas without them being over cooked or under seasoned. Looked up the closest Mexican restaurant to where I was after attending a function in the area and ended up here. There was a total of 7 in our party. We got seated really fast but we thought maybe we should have went somewhere else when we saw it was in a shopping center and not very large. I must say, even though the service was a little slow (I kind of over look that these days with the food service industry having such a hard time getting employees) the food was very good. We tried a variety of dishes and everyone was very pleased with the taste and freshness of their food. Their chips came out warm and the salsa was great! Margaritas were only $2.95 and were very good. Didn't just taste like the mix when you normally get them this cheap. They have extended Happy Hours so a great place to go for beer and Margs! El Cactus has been on a slow steady decline for the past 6 months or so, but the "little things" prior to last night weren't unforgivable sins, so to speak. Our visit on 3-19-2022 was a new low, and yes, had sunk to the low level of "deal-breaker". Our waitress was out in la-la-land, but 2 others of the wait staff did step in when we asked for help. #1. No silverware. It was brought to our waitress's attention, but she never brought it. Finally, a waiter from another area got our silverware, several minutes after our food was brought to the table. #2. Two of our party ordered soft drinks. They never got refills. Our son had been flying internationally throughout the day and was very VERY thirsty. He had to eat over half his meal with nothing to drink. I ended up sharing my water so that he wouldn't choke. If I'm paying $2.75 (each) for soft drinks for 2 in my party, a refill should be brought very early on. She didn't bring their refills because she was too busy in the back of the restaurant on her phone talking, and then texting. After we had finished eating she passed by the table when I stopped to ask if they don't give refills and she said, "oh yes I was just about to ask if you wanted them." But we were FINISHED eating. #3. At check out, the manager asked "How was everything?" After telling him of our experience, he had NOTHING to say. We've been regulars there since they opened so now they've lost our business. And we will continue to give him some advertisements (like this one) to make people aware that management at El Cactus doesn't give a rat's behind about their regular customers. read more

I really like this new place. Food is always good no matter what we've had. My favorite chips of any around and good salsa. Decent vegetarian selection. I haven't tried drinks here yet so I can't comment on this most important item- the margarita! Fajitas were a little greasy...they could cut back on the oil in probably all dishes! We have eaten here so many times and always had a good experience. Tonight we ordered 2 orders of chicken fajitas to go and I'm sorry to say it was pretty much inedible. The tortillas had a brittle, cardboard like quality and they were near impossible to separate. The chicken was a dry, chewy mess. Disappointed. read more

As you walk in i quickly noticed the nice mordern mexican design and decorations, very coloful. The colors festive and the art contemporary and cheerful! So the ambiance gets a thumbs up! Was seated imidiately so no waiting time! The chips and both salsa and salsa verde were very good, great flavor and mild, the queso was delicious but to watery. For main course - the grilled tilapia with grilled tomatoes, onions, n peppers. The fish was perfectly cook!!!! I hate when this simple fish is served over cooked@$! Grrr! But i have to admit it was PERFECT! The rice was very good, the flavor was savory n very delicious. The nachos al pastor were savory, meat was perfectly marinated and authentic on flavor to the pastor seasoning...very delicious and super flavorful dish...all our food was served with fresh ingredients n at perfect temperature The staff- helpful, friendly and efficient! I honestly would have given four stars for the food. It is extremely tasty, but also very salty and oily. I ordered the fajita taco salad and there was more sour cream, cheese, and oil from the meat than lettuce but it was extremely good. Just don't expect health food. However, the service is absolutely exceptional. My waiter was extremely efficient and quick, and was always on top of it. For that I raised it up to five stars. read more

Let me first start off by saying the two stars is definitely not for the food or the waitstaff. They deserve 5 stars. First impressions can either make or break your business. The hostess is incredibly rude and doesn't have a stitch of personality in her . She obviously is more interested in her phone not your customers she barely even looks at you or addresses you when you arrive. She proceeds to seat you and leaves the menus on the table and doesn't say a word and walks away. I guess maybe her fake eyelashes are glued on a little too tight. We have no negative comments at all about El Cactus. That being said, nothing about this restaurant "wowed" us either. It is a good restaurant with good food and good service. They were very busy on a Sunday afternoon; which is to be expected. I hope this isn't viewed as a criticism; but, my opinion of El Cactus is that it is your average Mexican restaurant. My husband and I frequent this establishment quite often and the more we go the worse the service has become. The food is delicious but that's the only thing I can say about that. There is a bar but there isn't a bartender so you have to wait for a waitstaff to come a serve you but most times they won't and just pretend that they don't see you. The worst service I've ever had, food over priced for the amount you get compared to other local Mexican restaurants and the floor under our table was disgusting. Husband got his meal and it was disgusting and wanted to exchange it but literally our waitress got our drinks and food order and we never saw her again nor could we get her attention to get refills or any service. My husband had to go up front to speak to someone and when she came to our table was rude. When I asked for the manager and was speaking to him our waitress then decided she wanted to come to our table to hear what I said. And rudely she said y'all just got your food .. literally me and both my kids were done eating already. This place was the rudest Mexican place I have ever been to. I found two hairs in my food (I'm usually not the type to make a fuss over such and just stop eating and just pay for my food anyways) but this time I felt like I should say something just Incase it should happen to someone else's food. My hair is a long blonde and the hairs I found were short curly brownish black. The manager came out with a nasty attitude and tried to blame it being my own hair and with a nasty face picked up my food and never returned. Along with the rude manager the waiter came back soon after and hurried up the bill even though we weren't even there that long! And nobody looked or even came back to the table.
