    Average Joe ..

    Birria Tacos!

The Birria tacos were definitely above average! The food overall however, is nothing special. We've also experienced an awkward vibe from some of the serving staff the two times we've gone. Not sure why, you never want to seem like an inconvenience to the staff when you first walk in the door. Either way, glad to see new restaurants sprouting up around Knoxville!

Well well well... tried this new spot out and was seriously impressed. The staff was inviting, courteous, and professional. You can tell that they take pride in this restaurant. The artwork inside is gorgeous and the small details were beautifully noticed. We were seated in a booth, and even their seats are the most comfortable I've sat on! The wait staff were quick and helpful - solid recommendations. The food was perfectly seasoned, cooked, and presented. I just want to note that some dishes may be a tad spicy for some ( be sure to ask to try their sauces), but still perfect for most to enjoy the savory flavors. This place is dangerously close to me. I foresee many more visits in my future.

Amazing food! Great service! Opened during the snow storm and were very welcoming! Bre was a great server!

    Chicken Fajitas

This is our go to Mex place. We love the chicken fajitas and the kids love the chicken nachos. People are always so nice.

This was our first time here. The Powell location was just recently built and opened a a week ago. The service was fantastic, and the food was great! Hubby and son had fajitas and I had the chimichangas supremas. Their guacamole was so good!! Will definitely be adding this place in to our weekly rotation.

Great service! Staff is very friendly and attentive. But more importantly the food is incredible!!! My wife is a vegetarian and they have a tons of options. The menu itself is huge. We have already been twice and are really impressed. This may be my favorite Mexican restaurant here in town.

    Pollo con Queso

The Devils on Horseback appetizer is an absolute must, the Blue Crab Crispy Rice is incredible, and the Filet Mignon and Faroe Island Salmon are both beautifully done. But just about every thing to do with our dinner was low quality The Maitre d (or host mgr) has poor customer service skills. He is the wrong person to be in that position. Sometimes I would suggest to have him train at one of better dinner houses in Knoxville, but his attitude is such I'm not sure he would understand his deficiencies. Overall, he does not treat guests as if they are the lifeline for a restaurant. He made no effort to make us feel he was glad we came to The Kennedy and when we left he made no attempt to thank us or ask how our experience was. If he is not replaced the restaurant will steadily lose customers. The food quality was poor. The salmon on top of Brussel sprouts tasted as if someone in the kitchen poured molasses on top of the Brussel Spouts. Then after it was sent back with the request to re-do the dinner without the sweetener it came back (after a very long delay) with a huge plate of Brussel Sprouts that were completely dried out. It seemed like the people in the kitchen attempted to make up for the poor taste by giving a helping size 3 X as normal. The crab on noodles was a "C" at best. The crab was stringy and the noodles were very bland. If people at coming for drinks and appetizers it probably is a good choice but if someone wants a quality dinner experience I was told by 2 locals who come downtown a lot to eat at Lonesome Dove Brass Pearl JC Holdway (the best chef) Oliver Royale ( we ate here and the food quality and service were exceptional) Osteria Stella Emelia

They have some really fun drinks with pop-culture references, a sizable list of mocktails, booze list galore, and keep beer flowing , too. The service is friendly and the prices in line (if not cheaper) with other bars downtown ($11-12 per cocktail). We loved that people are allowed to bring in their own food (they have a few snacks you can order) and that dogs are welcome. In fact, word has it that the bar is named after the owners' dog, Monkey, so it makes sense that they pass along their pup love to our community. Note that huge (but very sweet) dogs may be freely roaming and were knocking into people carrying full drinks and begging strangers for food. Also, we were with a group across from the bar and I will say that it was absolutely deafening. We were next to each other and were yelling, "CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW!?" They could use a few items to soak up some sound like cushions on the bench seating, some rugs, etc. It would also make the space a bit more homey and inviting.

The dark, glamorous aesthetic is stunning--perfect for date night or for impressing out-of-town guests. I loved the gold accents, layered textures, and thoughtful lighting. Everything worked together beautifully. We chose to sit at the bar to watch the mixologists work their magic. They were incredibly helpful in guiding us toward drinks that matched our preferences. I absolutely loved my cocktail--even if I can't recall the name--because it delivered the spicy kick they promised. We also ordered several shareable plates, all of which were delicious. We tried the Carnitas Tamales (shredded pork, ancho mole, fresh corn, masa, cilantro, yuzu arbequina oil), the Vegetable Empanadas (house-made pastry, wilted kale, roasted sweet potato, Oaxaca and cotija cheese, black bean purée, and adobo & chile-lime aioli), and a salad. I'd happily order any of them again. I did find myself wishing for a bit more heat, but I've learned that's hard to come by in Tennessee. At least the staff gave us a heads-up that the spice level is toned down. I'm already looking forward to coming back and exploring more of the menu. The vibe is fantastic--and while they have a nice outdoor space, the interior is so eye-catching I'm not sure I'd want to sit anywhere else.

We ordered the nachos- nothing Michelin rated, but the perfect snack when paired with late night drinks and pinball. We ordered the full serving, but next time would get a half since we were unable to finish it. We spent most of the evening chatting with the friendly bartenders. One of them was newer (I think her name was Cat), and when I couldn't decide on a cocktail, she offered to make me a surprise drink based on what I like. She came up with a sour cherry vodka creation that was absolutely delicious -- spot-on for my taste! The main bartender was amazing as well, I believe her name was Ophelia (it started with an "O"). The music, decor, and overall atmosphere make this place feel like a cool neighborhood hangout. Everyone there was super welcoming, and if we lived in Knoxville, we'd definitely be regulars.
