Puerto Rican/Dominican/Cuban I found the restaurant with the best combination of traditional foods with excellent flavor, and nobody leaves hungry. When I walked in, I found a cozy, home-like atmosphere that was very clean. The workers are very cordial and serve you with pleasure and joy. We stopped here on a late night when we were craving coffee. Sign says they are open 24 hours. We tried their cafe con leche , cheese torta and jamon and queso torta. Everyone was super happy with their choices. They have a massive menu, will definitely be back to try more of their menu. The quality at best, was poor. We ordered the Alcapurias, had they bern fried jn used motor oil, they would've tasted better. The Mofongo was dry and tasteless. My wife had the chicharon de pollo, which was overcooked and tasteless. I had the pork chicharon which was the worst I've ever had. When we mentioned the Alcapurias, the service said she would tell the chef. She said, he appologized because he was busy and forgot to change the oil. A young man claiming to be the owner camebover to apologize Hid apology was simply to say that the oil was changed every day. This was not our first visit, needless to say it will be our last. We just had the worst experience at this place. We arrived at 2:14pm and did not receive our food until 3:34. We ordered waters to drink and waited 30 minutes just for the waters. Since the menu looked good and many people were in line to order from the outside counter, we thought the food would be worth it. It was not. The beef empanadas and the beef tostones were very bland. In the dining room, there was only one other table with two people, so it's not that it was crowded. The service was terrible because it was so slow and she rarely checked on us. Pero, que la Vaina? I am SO happy to have found this tiny hole in the wall Dominican/Cuban/Puerto Rican Gem! I love their Mangu and my Husband loves the Mofongo! 1st time, I called ahead and picked up the food. I ordered Mofongo with Lechon for my Husband, I got a Palomilla steak with rice, beans and very well fried plantains, which is the only way I like them; and an order of 4 Beef empanadas. When I arrived only 15 minutes later, the food was ready but they were making the empanadas fresh to order, so nice! We enjoyed the food so much, we came back the following day for breakfast and sat outside to eat. They have inside seating but it is restricted at the moment due to COVID-19. For breakfast my Husband had the traditional Dominican Breakfast with Mangu and Salami. While I ordered the Cuban breakfast that came with scrambled eggs, Cuban Toast, French fries & Cuban Coffee. Needless to say, the food is authentic, served piping hot and delicious. The staff is a delight and I feel good about supporting our local businesses. Yesterday I bought a couple of soups a this place. To my surprise the soups were homemade great. This morning I went back again for coffee and Midnight sandwich. At first, it was cold and not pressed. I asked the girl to press it. When I got it back the wax paper was stucked to the sandwich. Making it impossible to eat. I went back to see if they would make it right. The lady in charge said that because I requested it pressed, that was the reason the wax paper was stucked to it. I explained to her that 37 years in Miami, never had a Midnight sandwich like that. She apparently didn't give a f$#@ if I was satisfied at all. Or to make it better. I always go for the steak & eggs combo - it comes with cuban toast, fries, and coffee. All for about 6 or 7 bucks. Amazing. Their coffee is delicious, and the same goes for the pastelitos, the fresh juices (passion fruit FTW!), and everything else that I've tried here.
