Enchilada and tostada con frijoles...had finished the rest!
    Monica B.

Was in San Rafael on a random errand and had no idea there was such a large Guatemalan community...and with that Guatemalan restaurants!!! Ordered: -Pepian entree. (VERY GOOD!) =comes with rice, beet salad & fresh tortillas -Garnachas (order of 4) (SO FLAVORFUL!) -Tostada/Enchilada plate (MY FAVORITE PLATE) So simple but so delicious!!! -Gallo Beer (my husband ordered a beer & when we saw the bill, regretted the order---$15!! gulp Service was wonderful-- friendly, accommodating & checked on us just enough. Ambiance was great-- marimba playing in the background at perfect volume, clean, simple decor. When in San Rafael, we will surely return!

My friend kept telling me about this spot and we never had time to try it. Well we finally did and im glad! We came around 4 and asked to be seated outside. I let my friend take over and order. As a half Guatemalan I always am surprised to see such authentic restaurants since I would only see and taste the food when I would travel to Guatemala. the food was delicious and the vibe was great too, we sat outside and we would get checked on frequently. When all the food started coming out I thought we would probably need a bigger table. We ordered agua frescas, garnachas, carne asada and a salad with shrimp (that probably was the most expensive thing on the menu) and rellenitos so maybe I won't order the salad next time. The location has no parking lot but there is plenty of street parking so that's ok.

Not the best presentation but food was alright can work on presentation and quantity

The food was amazing the agua fresca de guanaba and fresh hand made tortillas with beans and plátanos and atol de elote to die for. The prices were super reasonable and the food taste was amazing we payed $100 for a lot of food lol it's definitely worth the 1 1/2 hour drive from Sunnyvale Delisioso y muy amables they were super nice and attentive

Possibly one of the best Guatemalan restaurants I've been to. I always have to go back when I'm in the Bay Area. The food is delicious and truly highlights the comida típica Chapina. When you visit this place, make sure you are very hungry because the plates are big! If you are missing our home country's churrascos, garnachas, enchiladas, a cold Gallo, platanitos fritos, pepian, or other dishes Chapines, El Lucerito is the place to go.

I enjoy this restaurant, come time to time for lunch. It must have changed recently has a more fancier feel has nice new tables. The service is a little slow a times could just be super busy and low staff but the food is always incredible. I always enjoy the cara asada swap the plantains for fries. Its always flavorful and cooked to perfection every time. Just waiting for them to get a liquor license so we can upgrade the beer to a cocktail.

They do have a to-go area where you can place order and pick it up, rather than going into the actual restaurant. My go to dish is the bistec sandwich, paired with their house special hot sauce, it is soooo good!!!! They also sell bottles of their hot sauce and salad dressing which is amazing. I recently tried their plantain burrito and it was also very delicious. My go to drink is their ponche which is super refreshing, especially during their summer months. I always forget to take photos of the food before I eat here because I am so excited to always dig in! I'll aim to come back soon to take photos and update my review. I love that they also have a mill valley location as well as Petaluma!

One of the best dining experiences we've had in the area…read more There's almost always a line when we visit, but it moves surprisingly fast and never feels frustrating. The restaurant uses community-style seating with shared tables, which adds to the lively and welcoming atmosphere. The staff is consistently friendly and helpful. The ordering process is simple--you place your order at the counter when you enter, find a seat, and the food is brought out shortly after. Despite how busy the restaurant can get, the food arrived quickly. On this visit, we ordered the Mariquitas, Tostones con Mojo, Camarones a la Diabla, and the Sándwich de Pollo. Every dish was excellent. The portions were generous, the ingredients tasted fresh, and everything was packed with flavor. The Camarones a la Diabla had just the right amount of spice, while the sides and appetizers were equally enjoyable. What stands out most about Sol Food is the consistency. Great food, friendly service, reasonable wait times, and excellent value for the quality and portion sizes. This has become one of our favorite spots, and it's a place we make sure to visit whenever we're in town. Highly recommended.

The outside was grilled to perfection--well done... *not* undercooked like some pupuserias. Lively Latin music played at a nice volume where you can talk with your companions. Merengue and more. Signs are bilingual--mostly Latin patrons, which is my usual litmus test that usually means the food has authentic flavor, which I love and look for from ethnic dining experiences. Came here by chance with a hunger inside me. Discovered a little gem! Looks iffy from the outside…read more It inside it clean, sunny, and smells warm and delicious. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. It's like a cute little burger shop but for pupusas. The vibes are great. Clearly a lot of regulars here, stones throw from Marin Civic Center. Side-note -- you can freely roam around inside the civic center which is one of the most mind-bendingly beautiful public buildings, a Frank Lloyd Wright masterpiece that inspired a George Lucas for Star Wars. But anyhow, yes, the smell, the happy chatter, the bright windows, lots of little tables, very clean, it just feels right. I don't know Blankita but I can tell she's great. I got three pupusas, cheese and bean, revueltas, and cheese and loroco made with rice flour instead of corn. All were excellent, 5-6 bucks a piece. There are not many places like this in Marin, that feel they could be in the Mission. It's definitely going to be a tempting exit on my way home from work.
