    Camarones & Chicken Mole
    Malu D.

Food was delicious! I had some "Camarones" and my bestie had "Chicken Mole." It was my first time to eat at Los Moles and it will definitely not be the last! Service was attentive, as well!

This was my second time visiting with a friend who hadn't tried their moles before. I sadly cannot have their moles because of my nut allergy, but they have an extensive menu of mole dishes which all sound delicious. My friend loved her chicken enchiladas with mole sauce which she said had just the right amount of spice, and I decided to try their huarache (corn cake) with shrimp. My huarache dish was light and flavorful, although the corn cake was thinner than I expected (more like a tortilla). The last time I visited I had the Carnitas which were very good. Service was courteous and warm, and my friend said she felt like she was at a restaurant in Mexico with her family with the classic furniture and decor.

Three crispy taco platter. You can have a choice of different protein, such as pork, chicken, beef, and vegetarian. It's all good.

Finally tried Los Moles for lunch and it did not disappoint. I got the three taco platter. You can have your choice of soft or crispy tacos. I chose the crispy tacos, but I found it hard to eat them by hand so I used a fork a knife. It is packed with delicious ingredients. I had the chicken and pork it was topped with guacamole and sour cream and whatever magical ingredients they had in it. It was more than enough food. I will definitely be coming back here. They are known for their moles, however I did not try it so next time I will make a point to try it.

We decided to try a meal here after walking past it for years. The place is beautifully decorated and inviting. Our server was a very friendly young man who answered our questions and took our orders. I chose their Soft Tacos plate, which includes three tacos of your choice, along with rice and beans. My wife was very excited to try their Moles. She chose their Weekend Buffet, which featured a few of their signature moles. Since we were there in the afternoon and knowing that buffet food can sometimes be disappointing because it might sit for a while after cooking, I tried to discourage her, but she went ahead anyway. I was happy with my tacos. The beef taco was my favorite, closely followed by the carnitas and chicken. However, my wife was disappointed with her choice, feeling that the moles she tried didn't meet her standards. I wonder how she would have felt about a freshly prepared plate of her chosen mole. Oh well! I would return here to try other dishes, but convincing my team to join me might be a challenge, if you know what I mean!

They are not lying when they say mole bar. So many moles to choose from and they even have breakfast/brunch buffet. I was craving some chilaquiles tho so I went with my original order which did not disappoint. Everything tasted fresh. The chilaquiles were crispy and every bite drench in the homemade sauce and topped with eggs. The only suggestion I do have is the beans were yummy but a lotto salty. Less salt and they would be ideal. My husband ordered the veggie/pumpkin enchiladas. He devoured his whole plate. I tried a piece and was surprised at the flavors. They popped with the mole sauce. I would get this dish for myself in the future. Fun place inside and lots of seating. This is a great stop if you're in the San Ramon area and craving good Mexican flavors.

Menudo, Pozole and Mole. I just can't get over their buffet with all these available items. The star of the show are the handmade tortillas. Warm, just made and in a basket to keep warm... You're better off with the buffet in my opinion, for the price of about 20 bucks per person it's tough to beat. Don't forget the Spanish coffee in clay pots for that "canela coffee" fix you didn't know you wanted. Pretty authentic if you ask me. You just can't go wrong it seems. I do this weekend deal about every other week now for years and they don't disappoint. The service is attentive and the portions are really just up to you. I bring friends as if to introduce them to the weekend deal and all of us leave satisfied with our own creations. They also have fruit, plantains and Flan for dessert. Enjoy!

At Los Moles, I took a bite, a sauce so rich it felt just right. Chocolate, chili, a spice parade, My taste buds cheered for the art they made. But oh, so many! Which mole to choose? Red, green, or brown--I feared to lose. So I ordered them all and to my dismay, I'll be rolling home by the end of the day! The other night, I had a delicious dinner at Los Moles with my dad and a friend. I had crunchy tacos with beef, which were delicious, and the portion sizes for all three of our meals were very generous. My dad got Mama Elena with enmoladas, and so did my friend. They both thoroughly enjoyed their dishes, and we'll be happy to come back and try new moles soon.

Omg! What a find! Rode the train down from Santa Rosa for their weekend buffet. I'm not an expert in Latin cuisine, so this is the perfect place to try different items. They have lots of different moles to try and many chicken and pork dishes.

Food was okay. On their website it said they are doing a promo for cinco de mayo... probably to get people to show up. When we arrived, they said they are not doing all you can eat tacos even though it was advertised on their website as soon as you open it. Could be a problem if someone called BBB for false advertisement.

Los Moles is an authentic Mexican restaurant in downtown San Rafael. There is street parking nearby the place, and there's plenty of indoor seating. The ambiance is family friendly and good for large groups. The owner treats his guests like family and creates a great environment. The food took a little long to come out, was a little expensive and there was plastic in my chicken quesadilla, but the portion was good and served with flavorful sides.

I have yet to find the best food in San Rafael but this place was ok. Our server was very nice and speedy. He was wearing all hats (bartender, server, food runner and busser) but never missed a beat. The chips & salsa were fresh and delicious. The steak tacos were good. We also ordered Mole Enchiladas but I was disappointed by the mole sauce. Nice atmosphere and setting. I may give them one more chance.

My friend and I have difficulty hearing in noisy places. What is the noise level on weekday lunch?

The place is not very noisy at all so you should be fine at lunch!

Is this a Buffett restaurant? The menu shows plate options but the photo's make it appear that you can walk up and serve yourself.

It's both. The buffet is pretty spot on but you can also order dishes

When is happy hour?? 3-6 or 4-6?

I believe Happy Hour is from 4-6pm.

We had a reservation for Father's Day and waited about 10 minutes for a table to open, as it was the busiest I have seen. The table was nice, big enough for the five of us, and the ambiance is always great here as well. We were quickly greeted by our server, Eli, who provided chips and salsas to whet our appetites, and we soon narrowed our focus to the food and drink menus. We ultimately decided on some El Jefe Tacos, a shrimp and crab enchilada, a three-item combo with two chile rellenos and a cheese enchilada with green sauce, a carne asada taco, and the volcanic Molcajete (served in a warm stone bowl with grilled steak, chicken, and prawns. Covered with a red chile, roasted tomato sauce). For libations, we went with a mojito and a new drink - for us at least - the pineapple mezcal mule! The food came in a timely manner, and the molcajete was still bubbling! Hence, the volcano nickname! The mojito was very minty and refreshing, and the pineapple mezcal mule was an acquired taste for some of the group - I enjoyed the smoky earthiness of the mezcal, but it's not your run-of-the-mill tequila, so if you are new to mezcal, be aware of the difference. The food last time was a bit spicy, but this time it was not an issue. Still spicy, but not to the point of being overpowering. Even the salsas were not as extreme. Good for some of us! All the food was delicious, and the three-item combo was great to look at as well. As we say, "the eyes eat first," and indeed my eyes were little piggies that meal! Overall, the service was great, the food great, and the entertainment a perfect background for what would have been just a noisy bunch of chatter. Overall a great Father's Day lunch.

That said, I've been here twice and unfortunately had the same experience both times. The first visit, I ordered a regular chicken burrito, and it was pretty bland. I figured it might have just been an off day, so I gave them another try and ordered a super burrito the second time. Sadly, it was also bland--even with sour cream and guacamole, which I didn't really see or taste. Their burritos are long but not very thick, and flavor-wise they just didn't hit for me. I was hoping for something more seasoned and bold. I truly hope this is taken as constructive feedback, because I do want local spots like this to succeed. The service is good, and the people are kind--it's just the food that needs more flavor. Unfortunately, based on my experiences, I can't recommend it and probably won't be returning, but I wish them the best and hope they continue improving.
