The food and service were always consistent here. Great chips and salsa. The lunch menu is great. Good portions. Prices went up slightly in the past couple of years, but only slightly, and understandably so. Still one of the most affordable places in town for great Mexican food. It has been a few years since I've been to El Mariachi. Myself, and my grandparents used to come here often, but had since started to going to El Monte because it is closer to my grandmother. We decided to give El Mariachi some love today since had not been in so long. Right away, the biggest change that caught my eye was the decor, they have gone with a more western style theme and have done away with the paintings that I remember... but I digress, we're here to talk about the food. First, the salsa. The first thing that caught my attention was they use fresh cilantro which gave a nice kick when you take that first bite, followed by the other spicy nuances that you want in any salsa. For my entree, I had the chicken fajitas. They came out promptly and were still sizzling. I also had the salad with refried beans, fresh guacamole, and rice. The fajitas themselves were great without any additional toppings, but blended with the guacamole, sour cream, and salsa, makes for a delectable little bite. All in all, it was a good experience. Service was prompt and attentative, and the food was good and fresh. While it may not exactly be like a fine wine in that it gets better with age, it certainly has not lost it's touch. Not bad but I don't eat inside. Decent, hot food, pricing is good and comes out quickly. If I want quick Mexican, it's one step above Taco Bell. I will admit that it's definitely authentic. So, it's ok but nothing to write home about. read more

This place is as reliable as the sunrise. We don't actually care for Mexican food usually - EXCEPT for This Place. It's has lovely AUTHENTIC Mexican ambiance with REAL Mexican food. Our favorite is double chicken fajitas (you can get other meats). We usually have enough leftovers for another meal at home with soft tortillas from the grocery. And it's just as convenient to eat in as to call it in and pickup within 20 minutes. Except for Rosie's (which our kids like), we never go to other Mexican restaurants - only El Mariachi's on Winchester Road has been wonderful about customizing our orders, never compromising on their attentive service, always bringing great foods, and providing for a lovely dining experience. read more

Ah, El Mariachi. I have so many memories here. I ate here with my family a lot growing up. I may only have one check in on Yelp but rest assured I've been here literally dozens of times before. It's a cute place, easily spotted and accessed from the road. Plenty of parking. Inside, there is spacious seating and bright green walls, interesting paintings hanging up, and other neon-colored flair everywhere. It has a lot of personality. As for the restaurant experience, service is great. Some of their waiters have been there since I was little. They greet you right when you walk in the door, and you are seated quickly and are taken care of the whole time. The menu is big but not giant, so you have a lot of options but won't get overwhelmed. In terms of Tex-Mex style food, this is about as good as you will get in Huntsville. BIG portions at excellent prices. My chicken flautas were excellent. In past trips, I have also been very impressed with all their enchiladas, especially cheese enchiladas. My dad has been ordering the Speedy Gonzales for years and it has the spot for him every time. My only criticisms: the pico de gallo lacked flavor. The water I ordered tasted weird. Also, the guacamole didn't taste fresh, or otherwise was just not made well, maybe both. The guacamole was off-putting enough to warrant a star deducted. However, I have not noticed that in the past. One time thing? Maybe, but should be noted anyway. read more

This place is by far the most Mexican authentic food you can find in Huntsville. The customer service was splendid. The food was so good I got the order of 3 Tacos of carne asada on corn tortilla. The meat was superb, also they put a good amount of meat on the tacos. On the side with the tacos they give you a plate of refried beans with white cheese on top so good. Furthermore the price for the tacos were a little exorbitant but worth the money still. Totally coming again if I visit Huntsville again read more

The first time I came here with a larger party of about eight people, everyone ordered a different dish and everyone absolutely loved their food. I have come back multiple times since and each time the food has been delicious. The prices are wonderfully low and the staff so far have all been very professional. The service staff is courteous and quick. Food quality is okay, served nice and hot indicating how freshly it was cooked, although probably not good enough to warrant the drive to get there unless you live nearby. The restaurant is clean although furnishings and decoration is spartan. The ambiance almost has more of a country-style eatery feel than a mexican feel. I personally prefer Rosie's Mexican Cantina, Phil Sandoval's Mexican Restaurante, and Cantina Laredo (especially if going out with a date or friends); but I'm also content eating at El Mariachi by myself if I'm in the vicinity (I live nearby). read more

Took my mother there to celebrate her 50th birthday, When we were directed to a place to sit down I asked the lady who seated us if they could sing happy birthday as my mother was turning 50, The lady just looked at me and said, "Okay". The food was not as good as other times, the guacamole tasted like it was store bought and not fresh made. The taco meat seemed to be very watery, I mean biting into a crunchy taco should not cause meat juice to come out the back of the taco. Me and my mother were there for a good 20 minutes. I kept waiting for the lady who seated us to show up at the table and have people singing Happy Birthday,didn't even have to be really good. My mother asked for the check at the 20 minute mark and still no one sang happy birthday. I initially thought that they were just waiting till we asked for the check. I went to pay and asked the cashier why no one sang happy birthday when I asked for it and the lady who seated us said, "Okay"? The cashier laughed and shrugged her shoulders. The woman who seated us (my mother and myself) was sitting near the door and said that they had planned to but we asked for the check before they could get something ready. I am thinking to myself, "You had 20 minutes, to just grab a couple people to come sing happy birthday and you failed". Before I left I told her that they need to do better customer service, again met with a laugh. Me and my mother have been going there off and on for 10+ years, not going back after that. Hey, this tex-mex place was pretty tasty and reasonably priced. I have to say my wife and in-laws were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the buffet. Yeah, I know, a buffet? One of the hardest things in the restaurant business to do right is serve a hot, edible tex-mex food buffet. This is most likely the best I have ever tasted. (I stopped eating tex-mex buffets years ago due to their unreliability). El Mariachi, though? Pretty good food. read more
