Last month while visiting family in Huntsville they decided that we should get takeout for all 10 of us! With my young nephew and elderly aunt and uncle in the car we made our way to Taco Mama - Twickenham. We were warmly greeted outside of the restaurant by an employee with green tipped dreads - off to a great start! The hostess let my aunt & uncle sit at a table to take their time reviewing the menu, even bringing them water to make them more comfortable. Once I had all of the orders listed in my notebook I went to the counter and apologized in advance for the long order, but much to my surprise the team member wasn't fazed. Kydarra (I hope I spelled her name correctly!) was warm, friendly, gracious, and patient as I read off all 10 orders. She repeated them back to me at the end to ensure they were correct, and made suggestions for changes to my own meal since it was my first time there (her recommendations were perfect for my vegetarian meal). Before I could barely blink the team was back at our table with all of the orders, each correctly labeled, bagged, and ready to go. There isn't a Taco Mama where I live but this restaurant has a customer for life based on the exceptional service and the quality food. Ive gone to two locations - Twickenham & Providence. Both had helpful, sweet people working there (really nice when dealing with a sick family member). We've had a Build Your Own salad with Tofu as the protein base - added lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, olives, corn, pico de gallo, and two salsas (mild red salsa and hot tomatillo) plus the recommended anjo slaw and free chips. We had the best experience!! The general manager Spencer was awesome - very helpful and knowledgeable. Everything we ate was delicious and the drinks were yummy! If you are looking for some tasty tacos, nachos or a bowl, step right up! The line is out the door for a reason! Last week, my boss got us some catering for lunch, so this week we figured we'd give it a go for dinner. Six co-workers and I stopped in for dinner. I am a nacho lover, so I got nachos with the chips on the side. They put meat, beans, salsa, and shredded cheese in a bowl with a covered cup of queso and a plate of chips. I poured the queso over the meat/bean mixture and mixed (that's the photo) then dipped the chips in. I love doing that so my chips stay crispy. It was as good as I remembered! I got dinner and two lunches out of it. We opened a tab since we had adult beverages and someone stopped by every now and again to check on us. We were far from neglected. This place is super busy, but I see why. The food is worth the wait in line. read more

I've always loved Taco Mama. I loved the food, The atmosphere and the people. I especially loved the fact that they seam to care about the Military community because they gave us a wonderful military discount. They now however have reduced the discount to nothing more than the other restaurants who claim to support the military community by giving a whopping10% which is chump change. They have joined the ranks of the restaurants who really don't care about us. Profits over community. Enjoy the measley profits because you have lost a regular customer. read more

'The Mayor' taco platter, that's what I got.... (Had to write it before I forgot) I walked here from my hotel once during an airline stopover.... I just remembered that it was delicious! So when I came back the 2nd time, it was during a road trip. I had to stop here. I was salivating with anticipation. Have you ever had a great restaurant experience, and you went back to recreate it, but you were disappointed? That was NOT the case here! I think it got better! Yes, I'm sure of it The tacos are fresh and messy and overflowing... perfect. You can choose from MANY additional toppings at no extra cost. I always come here every Tuesday night. The food here is always good and fresh. Sydney is the best bartender here, she makes the drinks real quick and can take your order immediately even when she's busy. You should see her pour the drinks while she takes orders and listens to you at the same time. The lighting and modern touch makes this place a great hangout. read more

We went here with a party of 7 for lunch and it did not disappoint! You walk up to the counter to order and they bring your food and drink out to you. The guy at the counter saw I was ordering for kids and was super helpful and gave me suggestions. I ordered the burrito bowl and my husband got the burrito, both were excellent. The Mexican street corn is to die for! The kids quesadilla was also good, and the rest of the party enjoyed their meals. The staff walked around checking to see if you needed anything as well. ***FOOD POISONING ALERT*** Just spent the last 30 minutes throwing up from this place. Literally throwing up. Seemed fine when I ate there, but I suspect they have severe cleanliness issues. Came here for lunch because my brother has been staying in the hospital right near by. It was SO packed when I went in for lunch that every table was full! I ordered food to go. I got the burrito bowl and chips/salsa. This is your typical American Mexican type food. I got the burrito bowl with ground beef, sour cream, avocado, beans etc. One thing I did like was that they had a ton of different toppings to choose from! My burrito bowl was actually really watery at the bottom for some reason, so I was quite disappointed in that. Other then that it tasted good! The chips they give you are A LOT. Totally worth the extra $2. You receive a huge bag full of thin, hot chips. They are a little greasy but good. Overall, decent Mexican place but I would order tacos or something else. read more

I've seen Taco Mama in various Alabama cities and well, after living in Texas for 15 years, I'm a little gun shy about 'Mexican' food. This place is like a Chipotle with a bar. Or a Torchy's if you will. My sweet girlfriend picked us up dinner from here for when I got to our hotel room. I had a burrito bowl with steak and added some stuff to it. That's one thing I loved, you can add all these toppings, including 'premium' toppings for no extra charge. The whole thing was delicious! I was a little put off by the sauces being on the side without asking for it. Then again, that's a me thing. I also wouldn't order steak again as the pieces are pretty big and difficult to cut with the cutlery they provide, another me thing. It was all very, very good and somewhat reasonable. We catered Taco Mama for our kids college graduation party. We have never catered food before so our first experience was a great one. Ordering was very easy. The young lady on the phone was very helpful with explaining how everything worked and what to expect the day of. On the day of the party we got our food on time. It was nice and hot. The driver set everything up. She went over what things were and how they were laid out. The food was delicious and there was lots of it. Stopped in Huntsville on our way home from vacation and discovered this little gem! Food tasted fresh and the portion sizes were generous -- definitely a great value! Out of 3 adults none of us finished our food, and they could have been easily split. My husband got a burrito bowl, and my sister and I got quesadillas. The pork in mine was very tender and juicy! The staff was friendly and attentive, the only thing I can say that's negative is that there is no changing table in the restroom and we had our 9 month old with us. That made things rather tricky when he needed changed. I still think they deserve 5 stars because this has nothing to do with their food or the overall experience, but you might want to come prepared if you have small children. read more
