Homemade tortillas. Do I really need to say more? Well no, but I will. I was at work a few weeks ago speaking with a co-worker who happens to be Mexican and we were talking food. I brought up one of my favorite Mexican taco trucks and she told me about El Mas Chingon and their homemade tortillas. Hidden over on Canyon Lane, diagonally across the street from the Canyon Grill ( a really good place for ice cream shakes) is a bright green food truck serving some really good Mexican food. It's in the same parking lot as the West Slope liquor store and there happens to be a smaller coffee cart right next to it. $4 for a taco, $13 for burrito and $18 for the Mas Chingon torta which seems to have everything but the kitchen sink on it. They have the usual meat choices plus lengua, cabeza and fish options. My buddy got an asada burrito and the thing was gigantic. He's not exactly a small individual and he could not finish it. I wanted to try a few different meats and so I got tacos. Each taco came on a different type of tortilla. That was impressive in itself. All the tacos came with onions and radish and wedges of lime. They don't offer a taco plate with rice and beans and so I had to get those on the side and it was just regular black beans not refried beans. It didn't really matter it was all good. Their habanero salsa was slightly thicker than other salsas that I've had at food trucks in the area and it was really good. All three meets that I got, asada, lengua and pastor with pineapple on top were really, really good. The food came out pretty quickly and there were 3 tables under a tent for us to sit at right there. Everything was great and I can't wait to try more of it. Torn. Their breakfast burrito was delicious. They include cabbage in their burritos, which is a plus when I'm in the mood. My wife loved the breakfast burrito but the carne asada left a lot to be desired in my burrito. Well give it another shot but with el paisano across the street, the carne asada just doesn't hold up. read more

Beaverton's hidden gem for taco's - El Más Chingón! After moving from Southern California, I've been dying to find a taco spot that me and my fiance would absolutely love. Based on the rave reviews on Yelp, my fiance knew we had to give it a try. The menu included - al pastor, carnitas, lengua, cabeza, you name it. I always go for lengua. But there was also a day they ran out, so I tried their cabeza. SO GOOD. The tortillas were perfectly warm and soft and the salsa was perfect. Their tacos are about ~$4 a pop. So, if you're ever in the Beaverton area, do yourself a favor and skip the chain restaurants. Head to El Más Chingón for some seriously delicious and authentic Mexican food. read more

Our favorite neighborhood food truck, serving food that's better than most bricks and mortar Mexican restaurants, at a much lower price point. The enchiladas are ok: kind of "deconstructed", sparsely filled with cotija cheese, lettuce and more cotija on top and the potatoes and meat of your choice on the side. The tacos are good, with plenty of filling, but the best by far are their burritos. These babies are over 1-1/2 pounds (I weighed one when I got home with it), and big enough to feed two people, unless one person is absolutely famished. The chicken can be slightly on the dry side, but salsa helps with that. The carnitas and asada are both excellent. Updated menus are posted, as their prices have gone up a bit, but those burritos are still a great bargain. read more

Just an absolute BANGER. The best tacos i've had in the PDX metro by far. Their tortillas are made to order which tells you how much they care about their food. Their meat is seasoned & cooked to perfection, then they give you some of their delicious red or green salsa to top it all off. I told the owner that I would eat here every day if I could. We discovered this place while waiting for Canyon Grill one night. I had a hankering for a torta, and this place has pambazos. I love pambazos! The place I used to get them from charges something ridiculous like $21 for it now. There's no way. So we decided to try here. I ordered it with carne asada. It was very large, and I couldn't finish it. But pretty tasty. My husband ordered a chicken burrito. That thing was as long as his arm!! Huge! I love the carnitas in tacos, burrito or in the bowl, it's fall apart tender and moist, it's so good. On my first stop by the truck I had the Pamboza. I'm not usually a heavy food person, but man, soooooo worth it. They take a torta fry it, then dip it in gajillo sauce, then stuff it. My mouth is watering while I'm writing this, it's that delicious. In addition to the fabulous food truck, El Mas Chingon does catering. They brought a truck and catered a large event I was at over the weekend. They did a wonderful job! First, let's talk about the size of my $11 burrito. It was huge! I added a photo and it's easily the size of my wrist and would def go toe to toe with any subway foot long in terms of size. Second, this place's chingon is the way they melt the cheese inside the burrito. This provides a quesa-burrito vibe that signifies superiority. The beans, rice and chicken I got were decent. I will certainly be back to try other options. I had to look up it's location on its Instagram page since it's mobile. I found it in the parking lot at 8805 SW Canyon Rd. This spot is a national treasure and they do justice to their food by using fresh and homemade tortillas and chorizo, and a perfect blend of seasoning and ingredients. We had a variety of items from the menu. Carne Asada was good quality without a lot of fat and gristle and was slightly seasoned, Pastor was extremely tasty with small chunks of pineapple (his favorite) again good quality meat. The shrimp taco was one of my favorites with perfectly cooked shrimp, and delicious toppings. Lengua was off the hook delicious! Choriquesso was another favorite. The flavor and texture!!
