Came here on a Friday night as it was close to where I live and wanted to discover that amazing place that just doesn't get enough attention. The food was made quickly; done within 5 minutes of calling our order in. They do accept credit cards! I may be a bit biased, growing up with Mexican food living in Southern California, but I wasn't all too impressed with the quality of the burrito. The flavors of the carne just didn't make a huge impact for me and the flavors of the guac, rice, and beans were a bit bland. The quantity of the burrito was very generous, and the proportions of ingredients within the burrito was good as well. Overall, a decent burrito, but just left me feeling demanding a bit more. read more

Pleasantly surprised at these tacos. Good price, came out fresh and super hot. Tortillas were solid and the meat was super moist. Flavor was great. We got the asada, pastor and carnitas. The carnitas were the star of the show and were phenomenal. El pastor pretty good, just wished they had more pineapple. the carne Asada was decent, meat quality wasn't the best but not dry which I appreciated. Staff was friendly, no complaints read more

First time trying El Jalisco. The food truck looked solid from the outside and the staff were friendly. I ordered the supreme carnitas burrito. It was ready pretty quickly And I was home eating in 15 minutes. The burrito was big but not absurd. There was a good balance of meat, beans, rice, guacamole and sour cream. Good taste but not as much seasoning to the carnitas as would prefer. Still a solid burrito! read more

Best breakfast burrito I've ever eaten period. The most efficient way to get them is by ordering ahead online and picking it up fresh. Also get extra green sauce. I'm excited to try their normal food, so I'll check back in with an update after that. read more

I've been going to El Jalisco since it started at this location (Barbur/26th) and regularly ordered their version of a torta mexicana. Today, I went and ordered one and the guy working the cart asked which meat I wanted - it comes (and always has) with both steak and ham. I was a bit perplexed and couldn't figure out why he was asking this. I told the guy I wanted both steak and ham and he started to tell me I could only choose one, despite the posted menu that's been there since day one listing both and every one I've had the past 5 years have always had both. After some back and forth, it was apparent he didn't know either the menu or how to prepare the items on it. This visit was a hard pass for me. I told him I'd be happy to go elsewhere and did. I really like the owner/operator, but the guy he hired and was working today is going to kill his business - especially repeat customers like me - on shifts he works. It's too bad. read more

go to spot for breakfast tacos - fair price, quick and friendly service, and grab and go makes it easy for a quick bite. I eat here at least every other week. The burritos are also really good - and for the price you cannot complain!! The space itself is a taco truck, but there is a huge parking lot and a few picnic tables if you choose to eat around. read more

I love this place! This is my go to for dinner when I'm too lazy too cook. I just call the number, place my order, and it'll be ready 5-10 minutes. I have only been ordering "vegetarian burrito mojado." Only "vegetarian burrito" is on their menu but if you like your burrito wet, just add to your order the word "mojado." The sauce is super spicy so just a heads up. I eat the spicy sauce with tortilla chips. Even though I have to do a U turn to get to SW 26th from Barbur Blvd. coming fron north bound, it's worth it. That's the fastest way to get there. Street parking is available. There's a parking lot for the business complex which you can use also. They accept cash, debit card and credit card. I was introduced to this place by a friend. I got the al pastor burrito, and it was impressively fresh. It's definitely no frills and authentic. The guacamole was chunky and had perfectly ripe pierces of avocado. The al pastor itself was a little salty for my taste. However, with that said, I demolished the whole thing and was quite happy with it. Look forward to trying some other things in the future. read more

I'm from Texas so I'm pretty critical of tacos around the country. This place is by far the best tacos I've had in Portland this far. Staff is super fast and even more friendly. Standing by itself makes the congestion of other taco trucks seem unbearable in comparison. Nice well kept eating area. read more

Was looking so forward to getting burritos here. I am sure it would have been great if I got what I ordered. Ordered machaca without beans, what I got is rice and beans, with bits of dried up ground beef!!! I hate beans so couldn't eat it. My son got carne asada supreme burrito and that was 5 star burrito! Legit tacos. Good Mexican food is hard to come by so I'm happy to have found this spot. Although I could only speak to the tacos but they have all the meats and they're well seasoned. Prices are reasonable. Never charged for extra salsa or card fee. Only complaint is they close early on weekends. read more

The tacos are where it's at! Do yourself a favor and grab a plate full of tacos from here - you won't regret it. Maybe regret not getting more. We got 2 carne asada tacos (omg these were unbelievably juicy), 2 lengua tacos (yum!), and 1 pastor torta (my mouth is watering just thinking about it...). Needless to say, we'll be back next time we're in the area. The only downside is the location - the truck sits on a one way road that's easy to miss. We had to do a few loops before we were able to get on the right road and the truck was very easy to miss since the signs were so small. That and, as with all food trucks, the hours aren't always accurate. The first time we tried eating here they were closed an hour before the listed time so had to find food elsewhere. Best to call and order ahead to make sure their open before heading out. Still worth it though! read more

This is the best burrito I've had since moving to Portland. We found our new go-to! So yeah, I'm from California. There's a difference between the flavors from the taquerias we frequented down there. There have been a lot of great Mexican restaurants that I've visited up here, but this is the first time I've been able to get the pastor burrito I've been craving since moving. While I understand you might want to hate on me for being from California, don't hate on El Jalisco, because their burritos are amazing!!! read more

The El Pastor is very good, I had the wet version, can't recall their name for it but you probably know what I mean. I also tried the lengua tacos, my normal barometer of a place (if they even have lengua is usually a sign of what they're all about), and it was also very good, tender without being chewy. They also have a few other of the more adventurous bits like cabeza and tripe, along with the standard pollo and carne asada, carnitas, etc. They all looked much better CabezaBeef CheekLengua TacoPastor Burrito it. The first thing that was a huge red flag about this place was that the Steak Burrito that I ordered was advertised for $5.50 on Yelp and when I arrived they charged me $10.50 which is pretty much double the price. I showed the guys who took my order that Yelp has the Steak Burrito listed for $5.50 and they pretty much laughed in my face. The owner told me that Yelp has had the incorrect pricing for about 5 years now. I ended up paying $10.50 for the burrito and I still tipped them because I'm a big fan of local businesses and when I got my burrito it was terrible (respectfully). There was hardly any steak and it was literally mostly rice and beans and honestly it just wasn't good. FYI this is the first negative review I've ever left for any establishment in 40 years. I just wanted to help out the next person who thinks they're going to pay $5.50 a burrito and then show up and pay $10.50 for a burrito that is not really good at all in my opinion. read more

I'm not sure why the reviews are so good for this establishment (food truck), the food is not. I have tried this place on the multiple occasions, all of them sub-par, boring, the customer service is lacking and they charge exrea for any salsa over 2 tiny portions. There is no cover & one table. Have tried the"street tacos", they were boring, gristley and lacking a reasonable amount of meat, definitely not a generous portion, flavor was lacking. Especially for the brick and mortar prices they are charging. The "wet burrito" was pretty good, not $10.00 good. Lastly, I ordered the "breakfast burrito". They charge for a couple extra hot sauces, charge for condiments......WTF! What a great way to chase off customers by nickle & diming them. I asked them for a refund food and that I'm not paying extra for a couple of hot sauces, they refused. (Credit card dispute coming soon) When I got home to eat my food, the bacon in the burrito was severely burned. The bitter, burned bacon ruined my burrito.... horrible!! Buyer beware.....in the future I will go spend my money somewhere else. I can't imagine how this place can stay open by operating in this manner. read more

This spot takes some navigating to get to, even though it's just a few feet off Barbur Blvd. All menu options will leave you satisfied. Sauces are flavorful, meats are well seasoned and tasty, flour tortillas are grilled and flaky. I get the pastor super burrito, and am never hungry after. My family have had tacos, quesadillas and just about every burrito option. All are very tasty. My only complaint is that they didn't wear masks while preparing the food and serving customers, throughout the whole pandemic. Made me think twice about going back, but I will now that COVID has calmed down. read more

So happy to have found this place! I love street tacos! Always my go-to when I am too lazy to cook. And luckily- this hits the spot! It's in our neighborhood and the service is so quick and the food comes out fresh!! Oooh and those sauces.... Just the right amount of spicy-goodness! I also love burritos! Big, meaty burritos! This is where I had to give this truck 4 stars vs 5. They're delicious- don't get me wrong. And filling. But a little more meat and I would have scored this spot a 5! Good, but... $9 for a burrito is a little steep for a business with very little overhead. Also the food was good, not great. I was hopeful, again. Based on the reviews, I returned for a second chance. Too salty for my taste. Can always add salt to taste, but once overly done can't do anything about it. To be competitive with other local fare, bring the prices down and leave some of the salt out. read more

Been getting burritos here a long time. They're good. Although, recently I've noticed the prices went up from like $5 to $7 a burrito and they've gotten much smaller.... like really small. Almost kid size. Pretty disappointing. I guess it's Muchas Gracias giant $5 burrito from now on lol read more

By the time we left around 6 PM, the dinner rush had started and a line was forming at the door. The interior is well decorated, modern, and clean. The server was friendly and service was fast. We ordered the bowl, one with carnitas and other with avocado. Both were very tasty! You can tell that the ingredients were fresh, the carnitas were tender and well seasoned. They also had a mango hot sauce brought to the table in a bottle that is amazing. I drenched my bowl with the sauce for the extra kick and flavor. The bowls are very filling. We ended up boxing up half of our food to bring home and finish for a late dinner. Would definitely come again and try their hot sandwiches. Will have to look into whether they sell their mango hot sauce separately as well. I'd buy a bottle!
