Had some good Mexican food here. As is typical of Mexican restaurants they have a large menu. So hard to decide. I ended up ordering a spinach quesadilla and corn/chicken nachos. I know weird combo but I really liked both things. Hubs got carnitas and they were tasty as well. Can't speak to the margaritas because unbelievably we didn't have one! Service was good and we didn't have to wait long for our food.

Service was fast - ordered, had our food & was leaving in about 40 minutes. Food was average. Chips & salsa before meal was ok but the salsa was so bland. Restaurant was clean but dated. It was not a memorable meal.

Would recommend this spot if you're around. Pretty outdoor seating area. Friendly staff. Meals came out quick and hot. Great portions. Reasonable prices. Complementary chips and salsa.

I wasn't sure what to expect from a Mexican restaurant in Cave City, KY. It was surprisingly delicious. The queso was good, especially the choriqueso (queso with chorizo in it). The fresh guacamole was really good, with big chunks of avocado. That's just the way I like it! Our kids ate the plain cheese dip, one had a taco and the other had a cheese quesadilla. They liked their food too. The star of our meal was the Maza Molcajete. The marinated meat was really good and tender. The sides were fine and went well with the meat. It comes with 3 tortillas but you can get more for $1.50/3 of them if you need any. My husband and I shared it and there was more than enough for two of us with the queso and guacamole we ate before our food came. The service was fine, our server was nice. The ambiance was great as well. Well lit to see when talking to your table mates and decorated tastefully. If we come back to the area to do the crawling cave tour, I'd come back.

    Burritos Mazatlan .. steak

Actually still sitting in restaurant.. the food was delicious. I had the Al Padtor quesadillas and my son had steak burritos. The portions were great. Love that mine came with a salad and rice. I am over beans. Our server was very friendly and efficient. Prices were very reasonable. Sound level was great .. boisterous happy people, but not so loud you cannot hear others at your table. Not to be funny but the customer next to us ordered Mexican. Street corn and said it was also excellent.. overall great experience.

    Shrimp fajita

Seated immediately with chips and salsa. My drink was delivered quickly and delicious (Sangarita). My food order was taken with care and then delivered quickly. And wow! The food was delicious. I ordered the shrimp fajitas and it was incredible. The shrimp were huge but grilled to perfection, tender and flavorful. This place is a GEM.

Came here to grab a dinner unfortunately we were given lunch portions the Pollo Loco. My husband said tasted like it was made on a dirty griddle unfortunately and the portion again was small because I think they served us lunch portions the chips and salsa the chips needed to be warmed before we brought toast and salted, but they weren't. The salsa did not taste like anything really it almost taste like tomato sauce. I was very dish tasted by that the waiter did not really come off inviting he didn't help us with the menu. He just kind of sat there and stared at us my fajitas. The meat was tough. There was hardly any meat on it by guacamole that came with it was brown, but it's very disappointed. Won't be coming back to this restaurant.

We love the food ! Octopus fajita is so good. Tacos are ok. But the derives are nice. So close to the national park. Price is good too.

The initial salsa was interesting, but not bad. My daughter's cheeseburger was what I expected in a Mexican restaurant. They even had good quality bun for it. My husband enjoyed his enchiladas. Probably some of the best Mexican food we've had north and east of El PasoTX and Costa Mesa CA! Start off with margaritas. I went for the top shelf and my wife for their regular. Must say the top shelf margarita had some terrific flavors! We also ordered the chunky guacamole to go with the chips and salsa. The chunky guacamole is the way to go! For our main courses, my wife decided on the Los Yolanda's (really chicken enchiladas) while I decided on their Carnitas platter. Our dishes came out surprisingly fast and were truly delicious! We were talked into an order of fried ice cream for dessert, again happy that we did as it was very yummy! An unexpected treat of complementary tequila shots and celebration of Cinco de Mayo was also truly appreciated. We did like the decor having a nice flare. We were so happy that many of the wait staff stopped by our table to ensure all was good. If we visit again, I'm sure we'll stop by! Keep up the great work!

That being said, El Mazatlan remains my number one choice, hands down. Their staff are always well-dressed, professional and friendly. their food is always fresh and hot. And their prices have always been consistent and fair for the 10+ years I've been a customer. The restaurant itself has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and is always kept in good order with clean tables. There's an extensive menu that has something to offer everyone (even the pickiest of eaters). Once you're seated, you'll never wait longer than a couple of minutes to get your drinks, chips and salsa. The staff will usually take your order within five minutes of when you're seated and the wait for your order is usually no longer than 10 minutes (unless they're busy or you have a large party). If you're passing through on I-65, go where the locals go! El Mazatlan is sure to have something to satisfy your appetite for Mexican cuisine!

Service was fast, and they brought chips and salsa quickly. I had the veggie fajitas, which had a ton of vegetables beyond the normal heavy carrots, peppers, and onions you get at most Mexican places. Overall, this was a good value and way better than getting fast food if you are driving on the highway.

Street tacos, empanadas, quesadillas Tortas, burritos and tamales- I think that is the whole menu. No Tex mex, no chimichangas, no Speedy Gonzalez special- this is more authentic. In fact, the waitress/cashier was the only other person in the building that spoke ANY English- including other patrons. Is this fancy? Nope. Is it clean? Yup. The shrimp street tacos were the best food in our opinion- tied with the chips and salsa. Also had carne asada and chorizo tacos and Burria empanadas and the shrimp was the best. It is in a little outdoor mall area, at the back, so you'll need to park and go maybe 100-150 yards to the door.
