El Mercat was good but a bit overpriced. This was my first time eating paella, and I thought it was fine. The montadito de carne was my favorite dish, and the churros were great, but I LOVED the crema catalana dessert. We realized we were there during happy hour after we ordered when another couple walked in and asked the server about it. No one had mentioned it to us, which would have been nice. I believe happy hour is only for bar seating though, so be sure to ask about it. Overall, it's a good meal, so you'll leave satisfied. But it's small, tapas portions for a high price.

Good food, efficient and fast service. Located in Pentagon Row, our family liked their Paella, Gambas Al Ajillo, Monteditos de Carne and a tapas sampler. They were all delicious. It's a good place for date night or family group lunch/ dinner outing.

We had a wonderful large happy hour here a couple of weeks ago. Ordered a bunch of shared plates and drinks. The service was great. We had over 20 people and filled up the bar and a couple of tables near it. The tapas were a perfect to share at happy hour. I look forward to coming back for a full meal!

El Mercat is a tasty new addition to the area! Some dishes were definitely better than others, but overall the service was fast, the atmosphere was pleasant, and some of the dishes stood out enough to make me want to return. The crab and artichoke dip was definitely more artichoke-forward than I've had in other similar dips in the past, but it was still rich and filling nonetheless. The cheese plate, patatas bravas, and simple but delicious tomato bread were my favorites of the night. The paella was fine, but it didn't have the crisp bottom/sides of rice that I typically expect from this dish. TLDR: Worth it, dishes vary, but get the cheese plate and patatas bravas

Came here for dinner and absolutely loved it. The restaurant is so clean and their service is super friendly. I felt like they should've been more busy for a Saturday night, maybe this is more of a hidden gem. What really stood out to me is their mocktails - they were beautiful and you would've never known that they didn't have alcohol in it but they also tasted so fresh and delicious which most restaurants skip on. Their crab dip is absolutely a must order. Will be back here because I wanna try their brunch.

New to the pentagon row/westpost area, this spot serves tapas and drinks. We came during happy hour the week they opened and ordered a few apps and drinks. The patatas bravas was the best thing we got, delicious fry and the sauce was perfect. The pan con tomate was a bit stale and too salty, but we came around 4 and maybe their bread had been sitting out for a bit that day. Croquets were solid but probably personal preference, it came with a sweet jam that I didn't love paired with the salty croquets. Drinks were definitely good! We sat at the bar and got very good service. Ordered the apple fizz mocktail and the red sangria was delicious. Would like to come back and try some of their mains now they've had a bit longer to get organized

We stopped in after a neighboring bar was unable to accommodate our small office gathering, and we were pleasantly surprised. The staff was absolutely friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome right away. We enjoyed some adult beverages and appetizers, which was a perfect way to spend a Friday afternoon heading into the holiday shutdown. The bathrooms were clean, and parking was easy to find in the nearby mall area with just a short walk to the location. Overall, a very enjoyable experience.

They have a great variety of tapas options and mocktails as well. I got a reservation for a Saturday dinner but it wasn't super crowded inside. The service was great and food came out fast.

Food was and has been amazing! I have been here 4 times already. Stellar drinks, food, service and look of the restaurant. I got the steak and my husband got the chicken and both were very good! The winter daiquiri drink is very good, and I highly recommend! Absolutely well done restaurant!

Absolutely delicious. The chimichury is so tasty on both the steak and roast chicken. The Winter Daquiri is so fresh and crisp tasting, we get at-least one every time we come! Took one bite of my meal and had to post.

What a fun bar set up

I'm not sure if the gentleman who greeted us was the manager or the owner, but he immediately made eye contact, welcomed us with a smile, and seated us right away. That first impression set the tone for a wonderful dining experience. Our server, Eduardo, was outstanding professional, personable, and attentive throughout the evening. He took the time to explain the menu and offered excellent recommendations, which made it easy to try a variety of dishes. The ambiance was warm and comfortable, with music playing softly in the background, making it easy to relax and enjoy a conversation without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. We ordered several appetizers and tapas, followed by dessert, and every single dish was absolutely delicious. The quality, presentation, and flavors exceeded our expectations. Overall, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. We truly enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommended!

Very easy 5 star review to write - I'll definitely be back for their weekend brunch special!…read more I met with a group of friends for their $35 bottoms brunch on a Saturday; this includes a wide array of bottomless tapas and greatly discounted drinks ($1 mimosas, $5 margaritas, $5 sangrias). The food was really really delicious. While the first wave of tapas took a little longer than expected to come out of the kitchen, the rest of our dining experience was smooth as butter. Every dish I tried was wonderful - the steak breakfast bowl, chicken tostada, and beef sliders really stood out in a special way. Each dish was seasoned well and came out hot; some of the tapas came out in fairly large portions (like the beef bowl and papas) and should be shared between a few people. I appreciate how expansive the menu is; we ate like kings and queens and barely got through tasting half the menu. The drinks came out quickly and were well made. They offered all sorts of flavored mimosas and margs (at a small upcharge); I stuck with classic OJ mimosas but friends at the table loved trying the variety of options. Overall, service was great. Our waitress was attentive, quick, and kept great track of all the tapas we ordered. As I mentioned, the flow and timing of receiving our first round of food could've been improved - but it didn't ruin the experience. Looking forward to my next brunch here!

That thoughtfulness is one of the many reasons I was excited to try it. When we arrived, I was initially concerned after learning that the "G" on the menu indicated dishes **containing** gluten rather than being gluten-free. Since many menu items were marked with a "G," I worried my options would be very limited, especially for the unlimited brunch experience. Thankfully, our server, Emma, immediately put me at ease. She brought me the food allergy menu, answered my questions with patience, and made sure I understood what was safe for me to enjoy. While my husband and I were deciding whether to stay, the manager, Antonio, came to our table after Emma shared my dietary concerns. His kindness completely changed the experience. He took the time to explain my options, offered to have the kitchen modify several dishes, and reassured me that their goal was for me to feel safe and enjoy my meal. Thanks to Emma and Antonio, what started with uncertainty became one of the most enjoyable brunch experiences I've had. I was able to enjoy a variety of delicious dishes, the mimosas were a great value, and the restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful, with floor-to-ceiling windows that fill the space with natural light. What I'll remember most, though, is how genuinely cared for I felt. Before we left, Antonio stopped by one last time to make sure I was happy with my meal and that all of my needs had been met. My husband had put so much love and intention into choosing this restaurant, and thanks to Emma and Antonio, we both left with happy hearts and full bellies. If you have food intolerances or dietary restrictions, I hope this review gives you confidence to visit Ambar. Their team didn't just accommodate my needs. They made me feel welcome, respected, and cared for. That's the kind of hospitality that earns five stars from me.

Drank the Valencia sunset, which I would have liked more without the red powder that was sprinkled in it- I want to say it was tajin or similar. If it were in the description of the drink I would've skipped it. Then focused on the descriptions, I ordered the orange wave before the realizing it was a mocktail, and a pricey one at $16!!! As it was my mistake I didn't mention it to the server but don't think that's a reasonable price for a mocktail. The goat cheese dip is as great as others rave, but the chicken albondigas lacked real flavor and I did not like what accompanied the lamb chops. The service was excellent but the overall experience didn't quite make 5 stars, unsure if I'd return.

Started off with the "Taste of Spain" which included Pan con tomate, Aged manchego, Jamón Ibérico de bellota, and Boquerones con naranja. Since I couldn't eat the latter two, the server said they could double the first two, which was so appreciated. For my first course, I chose the Escalivada (fire-roasted eggplant, red pepper, labne yogurt, fresh herbs, olive oil, served with focaccia) and Croquetas de setas (creamy mushroom croquettes with truffle aioli). The Escalivada was tasty, but more on the tangy side; the bread was more crostini-like than focaccia. The Croquetas were so good: creamy, savory, umami inside and crunchy outside. Next, I got the Zanahorias (spiced baby carrots, sweet and sour reduction, orange honey yogurt, mojo verde, Marcona almonds) and Patatas bravas (crispy potatoes, salsa brava, pimentón, garlic aioli). When I tell you those carrots had me dreaming about them later, I'm not kidding- all of the different flavor combos paired with the perfectly cooked carrots were amazing. The Patatas bravas was pretty classic- crispy potatoes with creamy aioli and tangy tomato sauce. Finally, for dessert, I had the Tarta de naranja (orange olive oil cake, citrus-honey yogurt), and my friend had the Tarta vasca de chocolate (Basque chocolate cheesecake, macerated strawberries, chantilly cream). Both were tasty, but the Tarta de naranja was so good: perfectly dense cake, refreshing citrus, and great contrast with the yogurt. For my drink, I got the Forget-Me-Not refrescante (butterfly pea flower, thyme, honey, lime, ginger beer). Very interesting drink, not sure I'd order again but it was good. Service was great, super willing to accommodate my vegetarian dietary restrictions. Ambiance is really nice, very modern and elegant.
