    Chicken Patatas bravas
    Ashlee S.

Listen, when it's still 95 degrees at 9:30 p.m. in DC, any restaurant requiring outdoor seating only is automatically disqualified. After striking out at two other spots, we landed at Barcelona Wine Bar, and honestly, it ended up being a pretty good save. As expected on a Thursday night, there was a wait for indoor seating, so we did what any reasonable adults would do: grabbed a drink at the bar and waited it out. I started with a Sauvignon Blanc while my friend ordered an espresso martini made with tequila, which was surprisingly delicious. Since we'd already survived happy hour elsewhere and had plans to continue the evening, we responsibly switched to water during dinner. Hydration is self-care, ladies and gentlemen. For food, we ordered the garlic shrimp, crispy mushrooms, chicken thigh, patatas bravas, and branzino. The stars of the evening were definitely the garlic shrimp and the patatas bravas. The chicken thigh was also flavorful and well-prepared. The crispy mushrooms, however, didn't quite do it for us. The flavor itself was good, but there was so much breading that we felt like we were eating the concept of a mushroom rather than an actual mushroom. Now for the plot twist. Everything came out fairly quickly except for the branzino. After waiting about 30 minutes, our server kindly informed us that it would be another 30 minutes before the fish arrived. At that point, we collectively decided that while we enjoy seafood, we do not enjoy it enough to wait an hour for it. So, we politely waved the white flag and called it a night. The service throughout the evening was genuinely good. The hostess was friendly, our server was attentive and communicative, and the bartender was cool despite operating under what appeared to be combat-level crowd conditions. It was packed, so ordering required decisiveness and a strong sense of purpose. The restaurant itself isn't huge, but it's a great size with a lively atmosphere and plenty of outdoor seating--which I'm sure is wonderful during the approximately three weeks of the year when DC weather is actually pleasant. Would I return? Absolutely. I'd just skip the mushrooms, order strategically, and maybe avoid arriving after spending several hours participating in Happy Hour Olympics beforehand. As I always say: I'm not difficult to please. I just have standards.

One of my all-time favorites. So fun, best place to gab with your girls and share delicious food. Feels like a party. I love how everyone thinks it's local despite it being a large chain. My oneeeee complaint is I think it's actually so insane they don't have non alcoholic wine options! Unacceptable & I hope they change soon-- such an untapped opportunity.

I came to Barcelona Wine Bar with a few friends for a late dinner and drinks. We made a reservation, but unfortunately still had to wait about 30 minutes before being seated. I also wasn't expecting the restaurant to be as chaotic and overstimulating as it was. The downstairs area was extremely crowded and the music was very loud. Thankfully, we were seated upstairs, which felt more like a traditional dinner setting, although it was still a bit noisy. We started with both the red and white sangrias, and they were honestly delicious. For food, we shared several tapas along with the seafood paella, which was one of the highlights of the meal. The paella tasted very authentic and was full of flavor. Overall, the food and drinks felt true to the Spanish-inspired concept, and the atmosphere did capture the lively wine bar vibe you'd expect to find in Barcelona. While I enjoyed the meal, I think I was just caught off guard by how energetic and loud the environment was. If you're looking for a lively spot for drinks and sharing plates with friends, this is a great option. Just be prepared for a more bustling and high-energy atmosphere than a relaxed dinner experience.

Get a reservation - this place is hoppin! Great food and good service. It's super loud mainly because of the volume of the music. We couldn't carry on a conversation most of the time. Tables are packed in tightly. Too tightly. I had staff and guests bump into my chair no less than a dozen times. Super annoying.

I had some time to kill before an appointment so decided to stop in for happy hour. I've only dined in for dinner and brunch, so was happily surprised to see that they had a happy hour. I was able to snag a table on the patio and it was just perfect weather. Service was very quick and I was able to order pretty fast and receive my food and drinks very quickly. I had a great time, but one area that I found extremely difficult was getting my check. 20 minutes prior before I had to leave, which was 30 minutes after I've been there, I went ahead and just asked for my check since I knew I wasn't going to be ordering anything else. It took 25 minutes to be able to get my check. Following asking for my check, I saw the server print it, bring it out, put it under his arm, and then walk by me to take multiple tables orders that were seated next to me. I was a bit dumbfounded at this, but after giving him my card, the same thing happened with my copy to sign. It was very odd and time consumptive to say the least. Due to this, it took way longer than it should've to get that check, and I was quite literally speed walking out of that restaurant. Food and service was good, I did find the salmon crisp to be too salty, but overall fine. I would recommend improving the process of check disbursement and signing.

Barcelona was okay but has room for improvement. I checked out the menu and other Yelp reviews before visiting. Many of the reviews mentioned the loud music, tightly packed tables, and lukewarm food, which is exactly what I experienced. I don't want to feel like I'm in a club, watch servers barely squeak by my table, or eat room temp food. We visited on Sunday night for a 6 PM reservation. The place was busy but not full, and got a little busier by the time we left around 7:15 PM. There was a small line at the host stand, but people were quickly seated. The host initially took us to a two-top next to a four-top that had a baby in a high chair and some kids books/toys nudging into our table space. We politely asked for a different table, which the host accommodated, but we shouldn't have to ask; they should give guests more space proactively. Our waiter was not particularly friendly or helpful. He asked us about allergies, but did not offer to explain the menu, make recommendations, or anything else. I overheard the waiter at the table next to us telling his table all about the menu and warning them to order any large dishes early, because they can take up to 45 minutes to prepare. We got no such advice; thankfully, we didn't plan to get any large dishes. I do appreciate that the food pacing was pretty good, all the dishes came out quickly and were cleared quickly, and our waiter offered us another piece of bread later (for a dish that only came with one piece and should have come with two...). We got a pitcher of red sangria ($38) which was 4 glasses worth. The sangria tasted fine but was very generic; nothing special, not much fruit, lots of ice. The server who poured it for us did it in a very noisy, distracting way -- shaking it a lot to get the ice to settle, struggling to balance the amount of ice in each glass, spilling some ice on the floor. It was unpleasant and almost comical. We tried eight different tapas dishes: Eggplant Caponata ($7.5), Rainbow Carrots ($8.5), Whipped Sheep's Cheese ($8.5), Cauliflower ($9.5), Grilled Chicken Thigh ($10.5), Bacon-Wrapped Dates ($8.5), Jamon and Manchego Croquetas ($7.5, four pieces), and Lamb Merguez ($10.5). Everything was pretty good. The best dishes were the Sheep's Cheese and Chicken Thigh. The cheese was a nice portion and worked well with the honey. It only came with one piece of bread and should have come with two. Also, although the bread had grill marks on it, it was not warm at all, barely room temperature. The chicken was excellent all around -- tender, salty, spicy, with a very nice green sauce. All the other dishes were ok but had room to improve. The croquetas -- which I love in any form -- had a nice, crunchy exterior and a soft interior that reminded me of mashed potatoes. I wouldn't say they tasted particularly like jamon and manchego, though. The bacon-wrapped dates -- also a favorite dish -- were fine if a bit sweet; the blue cheese on the plate cut this a bit, but I wanted more flavor from the bacon, which was lost against the sweetness of the date. The carrots looked pretty but had different levels of doneness -- some softer or harder than others -- and I wanted more flavor from the sauce. The lamb merguez came with fava hummus and both tasted bland. The eggplant did not have a uniform heat level -- some pieces hot, some room temp -- and I disliked the sauce, which reminded me of sweet BBQ sauce in a negative way. The cauliflower was underwhelming; the sauce needed to be punchier and the dish needed another ingredient, like a few crunchy nuts. I would like to see the restaurant turn down the music, give diners more space, and tweak many of the dishes. It was an okay meal but I wouldn't return.

A must-try in Washington, DC. The perfect place for a night out, date night, work dinner, etc. The staff are extremely attentive and kind. Our waiter was Diego, and he was such a great spirit. The tapas at this restaurant are the best thing in their menu. I highly recommend the meatballs, sheep's cheese and patatas bravas. If you are in DC, please give this spot a try.

Thoroughly enjoyed everything we ate and drank here. It is small plate style food so 4 of us ordered a bunch and shared. We have one friend with specific allergies which they were very accommodating of. My only negative is how loud it is and how crowded to other tables. It makes it very hard to have a conversation with those you're with. Wait staff were great. Would probably come back in the middle of the week when it is hopefully not as crowded.

Pablo was the best server ever! He was very informative, helpful, and accommodating to the parties allergies. To the point where he circled what food could be eaten/be modified/to avoid. He was awesome all around, please give this man a big fat raise. The place was super loud but if you II sit away from the bar (ex. Inside/outside) you can still have a great time. Went on a Thursday with a 9:45 reservation and did not get seated until 10. Do with that what you wish. Regardless the hostess was very nice! Food was amazing and very quick service with both drinks and tapas. Next time I go I will be trying some more tapas because everything u had was amazing. Perfect place for a social scene, I would not say first date vibes only cause it's blaring loud. But blaring loud with chatter because the place host the best vibes and environment. Will be back. Went there last night for my birthday! Although the overall experience was good, there are reasons why I gave it 4 stars: Location: We visited the Logan circle location and parked in the garage. The entrance is right next to the restaurant, so very convenient ! First impression: VERY BUSY!!! We came on on a Saturday night and I had read the reviews about how busy it can get so I was sort of prepared in a sense. We had reservations for 7:00 and arrived on time, but waited an additional 30 minutes to be seated. There were quite a few people also waiting for a table. We were offered a chocolate truffle during our wait so that was nice ! Overall, we were greeted with a smile by everyone but the wait time could be improved somehow. Music is played throughout the night and it can get a bit loud. I wasn't bothered too much by this, but I can see how it can be a nuisance for some. Lights were dim as well with rustic decor. Tables are small and very close to one another, so be prepared to share your space with everyone there. Food/Service: Our server was wonderful! She greeted us right away with the biggest smile and checked on us throughout the night. Food came out quick! Which was nice too! We tried a few tapas: Charcuterie- Jamón Serrano, chorizo picante, manchego cheese. All very good! Whipped sheep's cheese with honey SO GOOD! Ham and cheese croquetas- Delicious! Patas bravas- Very tasty! Crispy and flavorful. Mussels- Yum! Full of flavor and a little spice. Scallop crudo- yummy, but could use a bit more acidity in my opinion, but still very good! Flank steak- presentation could've been better and we were expecting chimichurri with it. But it was still tasty. Dessert- We tried the Basque cheesecake with a beautiful happy birthday design on it and a candle. It was yummy ! White wine Sangria- Refreshing and tasty! I read that many people thought it had too little alcohol, but it was perfect for me. Overall, we had a wonderful time and enjoyed all the dishes. I will definitely come back and want to try the paella!

I liked the food but the service was a bit interesting. Our waitress didn't come around with water or drinks for a long time especially after we were relocated to a different table. It was a bit overpriced for okay food. The ambiance was nice during happy hour.

I have been wanting to try this place for a long time and I am so excited to finally write a review! My girlfriends and I had a lovely time visiting this intimate, cozy eatery in DC. We enjoyed sitting outdoor with the heated lamps. The food was delicious, no doubt the food was prepared with thoughtfulness and care. I would highly recommend the fried oyster mushroom tapa! I loved the sangria, highly recommend sharing a pitcher with friends! The one thing that can be improved is execution of plates. Initially, they only brought 1 plate, but it would have been nicer to have 3 plates brought forward to maintain the family style ambience with tapas

Don't hesitate. Try it out!! My family and I were looking for a place that were completely wheelchair accessible, delicious and nice , and we couldn't have picked a better spot! We made a reservation for a party of 10 prior to arriving, and they had everything ready in a heartbeat for us. We sat indoors, but I have to mention the outdoor area! It was gorgeous and they have those heating stands for nearly every table + some blankets for te cold. This would definitely have me coming back for the outdoor even later this season! The decoration and music in the indoor area is wonderful. Modern and fancy feel to it. The staff was so nice and they were fully bilingual too. Our waiter was really helpful with recommendations on portion sizes and amount of tapas to order for the table. The menu was great! Since we were such a large group we got so many tapas and they were all great! The Papas Bravas were crunch on the outside, the sauce was really flavorful and not too spicy. The octopus was perfectly cooked, the sweet and sour fig with chorizo was incredible. Another favorite were the whipped sheep cheese and the dates wrapped with bacon . Omg it was so good. All of it. You really can't go wrong with this place! The drinks were awesome too. We ordered white and red sangrias, and I think it's the first time I've ever liked a white sangria! I kid you not. Oh and if you still have room for dessert, we shared a flan and it was so creamy and good! I will definitely return! Don't hesitate. Try it out!

The standout in the Neri were the shellfish for me. Even though they were small bits, the pieces tasted fresh. In the Gnocchi, the saltiness of the prosciutto, though not overwhelming, paired well with the basil sauce. When you walk in someone will help you find a seat and once you you're ready to order, you go up to the bar to order drinks or food. Although wine isn't my main thing, they do offer a small and limited selection of alcoholic options just no cocktails. Enough to do the job. I loved the music and the dim, chill, laid back decor really complimented the overall feel. It's definitely a spot I'd come back to especially to try out some of the food. Really dope spot.

Plus, the ambience is a mix of relaxation and class. I ordered the Lychee Martini to start, followed by the Tom Yum Fried Rice with Shrimp. It was cold, fresh, and so flavorful. Plus, it packed a punch. Although I normally eat the pork belly with fried rice, I decided to go with the Tom Yum Fried Rice with Shrimp, which did not disappoint. The freshness and spicy/sour flavors really delight the pallet. Plus, the pepper tray provides vinegar and hot sauces to supplement, if needed. The owner not only cares about the quality of the food in this restaurant, but about his customers and the community. I haven't visited for a while, and the staff still remembered my standard order. That attention to detail is something that makes people feel appreciated and want to come back again and again. Kudos to Baan Siam for their success year over year!

The khao soi had good flavor, and it came with rice. The chicken wings were for my son, he said they were the best wings he's ever had. The beef curry had good flavor, but the beef was a bit overcooked. Service was a little bit of a miss. When the waiter first came, he asked us for our food order. However, we wanted to order drinks first. I was able to order my cocktail, however, the waiter left before anyone else at my table could speak to order a beverage. Food came out very quickly. This is not the type of place where you would want to enjoy drinks and food over a period of time. However, if you are super hungry, your food will definitely get to you quickly. Restaurant was crowded, but not super loud. Overall, I would come back for the food, I just wish that I could have more time to enjoy my restaurant experience.

I was already impressed by the weekend happy hour deals. I started with the Aromatic whites wine flight (great pours for $12!!). All 3 wines were delicious and the bartender, Fabio was the best and very engaging throughout my time at the bar. I had the beef tartare and it was the best I've ever had! I then ordered a glass of the Domain du Somail Red Blend paired with the steak frites, which was the best pairing. I was stuffed but decided to get the crème brulee, which you could never go wrong with. It was the best CB I've had in a while. I will definitely be back for restaurant week or just an impromptu happy hour.

My counterparts enjoyed their Long Island Duck Breakfast (with seared asparagus, cumin carrot puree, cippolini onions, and port sauce), the Maryland Rockfish (with artichoke barigoule, carrots, brasied fennel, and noilly prat sauce), and the Local Roasted Chicken (with English peas, carrots, baby potatoes, and truffle jus). These are small bites, but for very small prices. Food specials on a happy hour menu always get me excited. The chicken sliders were the consensus fave and will definitely be our go to. The drink deals are even better, though. I had a delicious old fashioned for just $7, and for round 2, the preparadas up is amazing. It is a bright red draft milk punch that is a little sweet, a little tart, with gin, lime, a touch of spice, and a sour candy garnish. Very fun, but very delicious, too. And it packs a punch. Plenty of other options are discounted, too. If you are reading this during the government shutdown, they have additional shutdown deals (available for everyone, all day), so it's almost like all day happy hour. Don't miss it!

However, when we walked in and saw only a couple of tables occupied, I had a feeling it might not live up to its appearance. Unfortunately, that feeling turned out to be justified once we looked at the menu and tasted the food. Overall Ratings Atmosphere - 4/5 Service - 3/5 Food - 1/5 Parking - Street Parking Atmosphere - The restaurant is modern, clean, and well maintained. The dining room is attractive and comfortable, and it feels much more upscale than your average Korean restaurant. Service - Service was adequate. Nothing stood out as particularly good or bad. The staff took our order, brought out the food, and checked on us occasionally. What We Ordered - -Galbi - At over $40, this was by far the most disappointing dish of the meal. I've had galbi at countless Korean restaurants, many of which charge under $30 while delivering significantly better flavor and quality. The seasoning was noticeably different from what I'm accustomed to, and not in a good way. For the price, it felt extremely underwhelming. -Pa Jeon - Just okay. It was a standard Korean pancake that didn't stand out in any particular way. -Tofu Stew - We ordered it mild, but it was surprisingly spicy and excessively salty. The saltiness overwhelmed most of the other flavors in the dish. -Korean Fried Chicken - Unfortunately, this suffered from the same issue. The chicken itself was decent, but it was far too salty, making it difficult to enjoy. Final Thoughts - The biggest issue for me was the value. Nearly every dish felt overpriced for the quality being served, and the excessive saltiness across multiple items made the meal even more disappointing. While the restaurant looks great and has a modern atmosphere, the food simply did not justify the prices. Considering how many excellent Korean restaurants I've been to over the years, this was one of the more disappointing experiences. Unfortunately, I wouldn't return.

I visited on a Friday around 6:30 PM and sat at the bar to catch the end of happy hour (Mon-Sun 5-7 PM). The bar was empty at the time, but a few other people showed up later. The dining room had a handful of tables occupied. In short, easy to get a seat. Drinks were good. I like the Somaek ($6) which is a small beer and a shot of soju. Beer ($7) was beer. We got some beef and pork mandu (dumplings) that were pretty good. 6 pieces for $10 on HH. We got two entrees, the Ddukbokgi ($28) and Yukgaejang ($29), which came with four banchan. Ddukbokgi is chewy rice cakes, gochujang, onion, and bulgogi. We thought it was only ok -- we've had better, including at Mandu in the past. Yukgaejang was a new dish for me. The menu described it as a "spicy beef stew, brisket, noodles, shiitake, bean sprouts, and egg." I expected the brisket to be sliced and recognizably brisket, but it was pulled -- it looked and tasted more like pulled pork. The dish also didn't have any noodles in it. I didn't like it. The banchan was seaweed, bean sprouts, kimchi, and cucumbers. It was okay. Service at the bar was fine.
