I came to Barcelona Wine Bar with a few friends for a late dinner and drinks. We made a reservation, but unfortunately still had to wait about 30 minutes before being seated. I also wasn't expecting the restaurant to be as chaotic and overstimulating as it was. The downstairs area was extremely crowded and the music was very loud. Thankfully, we were seated upstairs, which felt more like a traditional dinner setting, although it was still a bit noisy. We started with both the red and white sangrias, and they were honestly delicious. For food, we shared several tapas along with the seafood paella, which was one of the highlights of the meal. The paella tasted very authentic and was full of flavor. Overall, the food and drinks felt true to the Spanish-inspired concept, and the atmosphere did capture the lively wine bar vibe you'd expect to find in Barcelona. While I enjoyed the meal, I think I was just caught off guard by how energetic and loud the environment was. If you're looking for a lively spot for drinks and sharing plates with friends, this is a great option. Just be prepared for a more bustling and high-energy atmosphere than a relaxed dinner experience.

Get a reservation - this place is hoppin! Great food and good service. It's super loud mainly because of the volume of the music. We couldn't carry on a conversation most of the time. Tables are packed in tightly. Too tightly. I had staff and guests bump into my chair no less than a dozen times. Super annoying.

One of my all-time favorites. So fun, best place to gab with your girls and share delicious food. Feels like a party. I love how everyone thinks it's local despite it being a large chain. My oneeeee complaint is I think it's actually so insane they don't have non alcoholic wine options! Unacceptable & I hope they change soon-- such an untapped opportunity.

I had some time to kill before an appointment so decided to stop in for happy hour. I've only dined in for dinner and brunch, so was happily surprised to see that they had a happy hour. I was able to snag a table on the patio and it was just perfect weather. Service was very quick and I was able to order pretty fast and receive my food and drinks very quickly. I had a great time, but one area that I found extremely difficult was getting my check. 20 minutes prior before I had to leave, which was 30 minutes after I've been there, I went ahead and just asked for my check since I knew I wasn't going to be ordering anything else. It took 25 minutes to be able to get my check. Following asking for my check, I saw the server print it, bring it out, put it under his arm, and then walk by me to take multiple tables orders that were seated next to me. I was a bit dumbfounded at this, but after giving him my card, the same thing happened with my copy to sign. It was very odd and time consumptive to say the least. Due to this, it took way longer than it should've to get that check, and I was quite literally speed walking out of that restaurant. Food and service was good, I did find the salmon crisp to be too salty, but overall fine. I would recommend improving the process of check disbursement and signing.

Pablo was the best server ever! He was very informative, helpful, and accommodating to the parties allergies. To the point where he circled what food could be eaten/be modified/to avoid. He was awesome all around, please give this man a big fat raise. The place was super loud but if you II sit away from the bar (ex. Inside/outside) you can still have a great time. Went on a Thursday with a 9:45 reservation and did not get seated until 10. Do with that what you wish. Regardless the hostess was very nice! Food was amazing and very quick service with both drinks and tapas. Next time I go I will be trying some more tapas because everything u had was amazing. Perfect place for a social scene, I would not say first date vibes only cause it's blaring loud. But blaring loud with chatter because the place host the best vibes and environment. Will be back. Barcelona was okay but has room for improvement. I checked out the menu and other Yelp reviews before visiting. Many of the reviews mentioned the loud music, tightly packed tables, and lukewarm food, which is exactly what I experienced. I don't want to feel like I'm in a club, watch servers barely squeak by my table, or eat room temp food. We visited on Sunday night for a 6 PM reservation. The place was busy but not full, and got a little busier by the time we left around 7:15 PM. There was a small line at the host stand, but people were quickly seated. The host initially took us to a two-top next to a four-top that had a baby in a high chair and some kids books/toys nudging into our table space. We politely asked for a different table, which the host accommodated, but we shouldn't have to ask; they should give guests more space proactively. Our waiter was not particularly friendly or helpful. He asked us about allergies, but did not offer to explain the menu, make recommendations, or anything else. I overheard the waiter at the table next to us telling his table all about the menu and warning them to order any large dishes early, because they can take up to 45 minutes to prepare. We got no such advice; thankfully, we didn't plan to get any large dishes. I do appreciate that the food pacing was pretty good, all the dishes came out quickly and were cleared quickly, and our waiter offered us another piece of bread later (for a dish that only came with one piece and should have come with two...). We got a pitcher of red sangria ($38) which was 4 glasses worth. The sangria tasted fine but was very generic; nothing special, not much fruit, lots of ice. The server who poured it for us did it in a very noisy, distracting way -- shaking it a lot to get the ice to settle, struggling to balance the amount of ice in each glass, spilling some ice on the floor. It was unpleasant and almost comical. We tried eight different tapas dishes: Eggplant Caponata ($7.5), Rainbow Carrots ($8.5), Whipped Sheep's Cheese ($8.5), Cauliflower ($9.5), Grilled Chicken Thigh ($10.5), Bacon-Wrapped Dates ($8.5), Jamon and Manchego Croquetas ($7.5, four pieces), and Lamb Merguez ($10.5). Everything was pretty good. The best dishes were the Sheep's Cheese and Chicken Thigh. The cheese was a nice portion and worked well with the honey. It only came with one piece of bread and should have come with two. Also, although the bread had grill marks on it, it was not warm at all, barely room temperature. The chicken was excellent all around -- tender, salty, spicy, with a very nice green sauce. All the other dishes were ok but had room to improve. The croquetas -- which I love in any form -- had a nice, crunchy exterior and a soft interior that reminded me of mashed potatoes. I wouldn't say they tasted particularly like jamon and manchego, though. The bacon-wrapped dates -- also a favorite dish -- were fine if a bit sweet; the blue cheese on the plate cut this a bit, but I wanted more flavor from the bacon, which was lost against the sweetness of the date. The carrots looked pretty but had different levels of doneness -- some softer or harder than others -- and I wanted more flavor from the sauce. The lamb merguez came with fava hummus and both tasted bland. The eggplant did not have a uniform heat level -- some pieces hot, some room temp -- and I disliked the sauce, which reminded me of sweet BBQ sauce in a negative way. The cauliflower was underwhelming; the sauce needed to be punchier and the dish needed another ingredient, like a few crunchy nuts. I would like to see the restaurant turn down the music, give diners more space, and tweak many of the dishes. It was an okay meal but I wouldn't return.

A must-try in Washington, DC. The perfect place for a night out, date night, work dinner, etc. The staff are extremely attentive and kind. Our waiter was Diego, and he was such a great spirit. The tapas at this restaurant are the best thing in their menu. I highly recommend the meatballs, sheep's cheese and patatas bravas. If you are in DC, please give this spot a try.

Went there last night for my birthday! Although the overall experience was good, there are reasons why I gave it 4 stars: Location: We visited the Logan circle location and parked in the garage. The entrance is right next to the restaurant, so very convenient ! First impression: VERY BUSY!!! We came on on a Saturday night and I had read the reviews about how busy it can get so I was sort of prepared in a sense. We had reservations for 7:00 and arrived on time, but waited an additional 30 minutes to be seated. There were quite a few people also waiting for a table. We were offered a chocolate truffle during our wait so that was nice ! Overall, we were greeted with a smile by everyone but the wait time could be improved somehow. Music is played throughout the night and it can get a bit loud. I wasn't bothered too much by this, but I can see how it can be a nuisance for some. Lights were dim as well with rustic decor. Tables are small and very close to one another, so be prepared to share your space with everyone there. Food/Service: Our server was wonderful! She greeted us right away with the biggest smile and checked on us throughout the night. Food came out quick! Which was nice too! We tried a few tapas: Charcuterie- Jamón Serrano, chorizo picante, manchego cheese. All very good! Whipped sheep's cheese with honey SO GOOD! Ham and cheese croquetas- Delicious! Patas bravas- Very tasty! Crispy and flavorful. Mussels- Yum! Full of flavor and a little spice. Scallop crudo- yummy, but could use a bit more acidity in my opinion, but still very good! Flank steak- presentation could've been better and we were expecting chimichurri with it. But it was still tasty. Dessert- We tried the Basque cheesecake with a beautiful happy birthday design on it and a candle. It was yummy ! White wine Sangria- Refreshing and tasty! I read that many people thought it had too little alcohol, but it was perfect for me. Overall, we had a wonderful time and enjoyed all the dishes. I will definitely come back and want to try the paella!

Thoroughly enjoyed everything we ate and drank here. It is small plate style food so 4 of us ordered a bunch and shared. We have one friend with specific allergies which they were very accommodating of. My only negative is how loud it is and how crowded to other tables. It makes it very hard to have a conversation with those you're with. Wait staff were great. Would probably come back in the middle of the week when it is hopefully not as crowded.

I liked the food but the service was a bit interesting. Our waitress didn't come around with water or drinks for a long time especially after we were relocated to a different table. It was a bit overpriced for okay food. The ambiance was nice during happy hour.

Don't hesitate. Try it out!! My family and I were looking for a place that were completely wheelchair accessible, delicious and nice , and we couldn't have picked a better spot! We made a reservation for a party of 10 prior to arriving, and they had everything ready in a heartbeat for us. We sat indoors, but I have to mention the outdoor area! It was gorgeous and they have those heating stands for nearly every table + some blankets for te cold. This would definitely have me coming back for the outdoor even later this season! The decoration and music in the indoor area is wonderful. Modern and fancy feel to it. The staff was so nice and they were fully bilingual too. Our waiter was really helpful with recommendations on portion sizes and amount of tapas to order for the table. The menu was great! Since we were such a large group we got so many tapas and they were all great! The Papas Bravas were crunch on the outside, the sauce was really flavorful and not too spicy. The octopus was perfectly cooked, the sweet and sour fig with chorizo was incredible. Another favorite were the whipped sheep cheese and the dates wrapped with bacon . Omg it was so good. All of it. You really can't go wrong with this place! The drinks were awesome too. We ordered white and red sangrias, and I think it's the first time I've ever liked a white sangria! I kid you not. Oh and if you still have room for dessert, we shared a flan and it was so creamy and good! I will definitely return! Don't hesitate. Try it out!

Great vibes from start to finish! The ambience was warm and inviting dim lighting, good music, and that perfect mix of energy where you can still talk without shouting. The music and overall atmosphere made it feel like a night out in Spain. Our waitress, Paris, was fantastic super sweet, attentive, and just had such a fun, genuine energy. She made the whole experience even better. Now the food... absolutely amazing. The broccolini was perfectly charred and seasoned easily a 10/10. The tomato bread was simple but so good, crisp and fresh. The grilled octopus stole the show tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. And the carpaccio? Buttery, light, and beautifully balanced. Overall, everything hit great food, great service, and a lively atmosphere. Definitely one of my new favorite spots for tapas and good vibes.

I have been wanting to try this place for a long time and I am so excited to finally write a review! My girlfriends and I had a lovely time visiting this intimate, cozy eatery in DC. We enjoyed sitting outdoor with the heated lamps. The food was delicious, no doubt the food was prepared with thoughtfulness and care. I would highly recommend the fried oyster mushroom tapa! I loved the sangria, highly recommend sharing a pitcher with friends! The one thing that can be improved is execution of plates. Initially, they only brought 1 plate, but it would have been nicer to have 3 plates brought forward to maintain the family style ambience with tapas

    Not that I know of

Do they have live music on the weekends?

Not that I saw, I'm not sure where they would even set up a band. Their playlist was on point though.

    Is this place kids friendly?

    Is there a Happy hour?

Yup, every day from open until 6 PM!

Happy hour is still 3 to 6? First timer but heard great things about this place.... Need reservations? Any special events going on specific dates this week?

A reservation is highly recommended to avoid a long wait time. Love, love, love Barcelona. Enjoy!

I heard this is a nice place for afterwork vibe with good specials throughout the week. Anyone know more details? I don't see much on the website.

I thought this place was excellent... for a tapas place I think the portion sizes are very good. And everything was delicious.. The brussels sprouts especially stand out

Can a dog sit on the patio?

    Yes

    Is there a happy hour?

Yes we do happy hour Monday thru Friday from Open to 6pm.

    What is evening dress?

Casual, trendy. Kinda a place to be seen at the bar.

It's a basement bar with a bit of a dive vibe, but it's hard to ignore the nautical, blue crab theme throughout. Loved the moody vibe of the wine bar, it felt very cool, cozy and sophisticated. We sat in a booth under a red light so unfortunately my food picture turned out super red. Friends loved the selection of orange wine, and we ordered mcbetty truffle fries, shrimp scampi, honey whipped goat cheese, shishito peppers, and caesar salad for 4 people. Highlights were definitely the shrimp scampi with focaccia and fries, with the goat cheese on bread as a close third. A little pricy for the portions but honestly impressed with the variety of flavors and quality of the food. Service was ok, food came out a little slower than expected. I had really hoped to pick up some pastries (miss those baked joint cupcakes!) but seems like they don't sell them in evening. I'll have to come back for brunch/lunch to get some!

The whole menu is labeled as shareable, but the butter beans literally had maybe 15 beans with toothpicks to share... the fries were pretty good, but for $12 for just a bowl of fries, I would expect exceptional. I liked the chili crisp salmon, but it didn't blow me away, and the portion size for $18 was so small. I did think the Parker house rolls were fantastic, and they came out piping hot, which was delightful. The mocktail option was also excellent! I really wish they would reconsider only having Baked and Wired pastries available in the morning- you only have one rotating cake option available for dessert, and it would've been nice to be able to enjoy more. I did not think the service experience here merited an automatic, unchangeable 20% gratuity. There's very minimal service- you are just brought your food and a water carafe. And while everything on the menu looked and tasted good, the tiny portions for items labeled as shareable didn't feel quite right. A fun place to stop in for a glass of wine, but I didn't love the experience enough to be eager to return.

The service was great, and the restaurant itself was really pretty and had such a nice atmosphere. We all got the mango frozen cocktails, and they were AMAZING; so refreshing, and honestly the perfect pairing with the food. Everyone in our group ordered something different, and everything we tried was so good. I got the Thai vermicelli, and it was absolutely delicious! I also got to try some of my friends' dishes, and everything was flavorful and really well done. I'm usually pretty nitpicky when it comes to coconut curry sauces, but it was so perfectly balanced and flavorful. It was easily some of the best Thai food I've had in the DMV (honestly!). No complaints whatsoever. I'll definitely be returning next time I'm in the area! :)

The khao soi had good flavor, and it came with rice. The chicken wings were for my son, he said they were the best wings he's ever had. The beef curry had good flavor, but the beef was a bit overcooked. Service was a little bit of a miss. When the waiter first came, he asked us for our food order. However, we wanted to order drinks first. I was able to order my cocktail, however, the waiter left before anyone else at my table could speak to order a beverage. Food came out very quickly. This is not the type of place where you would want to enjoy drinks and food over a period of time. However, if you are super hungry, your food will definitely get to you quickly. Restaurant was crowded, but not super loud. Overall, I would come back for the food, I just wish that I could have more time to enjoy my restaurant experience.

I decided to branch out from brunch norms and get this Manhattan ... The Ba'Nanhattan. The notes were very nutty and it had dried bananas in it, I loved it! I tried my coworker's cucumber drink, and as someone who does not like cucumbers, I couldn't deny how refreshing and summery that was. I was on the fence about a couple of entrees, but I decide to get the BECC... Bacon egg & cheese croissant. WHEW! That thing was so flaky and every ingredient was simply delicious. I was the only one at the table that didn't get potatoes with my entree... I went for the fruit instead. Little did I know that it was going to be all melons. I only started liking watermelon last year, and that was fine, but the cantaloupe?? I still don't like it. I could have asked to swap out but I didn't want to be difficult. And I didn't ask what kind of fruit it was, so that is on me. After this brunch experience, I'll be curious to come on other occasions. Happy hour, dinner.... I usually don't go for French food, but I liked what I had and I would definitely return.

My favorite dish of the night! The sauce pairs excellent with the toasted cauliflower. I basically licked the plate. $14. - Steak Frites: 7/10. Decent. We ordered medium rare and should have gotten medium. It was a little chewy and could have used seasoning. Not worth $39 imo.

M-F until 7, you can get incredible deals. You can get chicken or BLT sliders for $3.50 apiece, and reduced priced stuffed mushrooms, too. The $5 whipped feta comes with a big side of potato chips. These are small bites, but for very small prices. Food specials on a happy hour menu always get me excited. The chicken sliders were the consensus fave and will definitely be our go to. The drink deals are even better, though. I had a delicious old fashioned for just $7, and for round 2, the preparadas up is amazing. It is a bright red draft milk punch that is a little sweet, a little tart, with gin, lime, a touch of spice, and a sour candy garnish. Very fun, but very delicious, too. And it packs a punch. Plenty of other options are discounted, too. If you are reading this during the government shutdown, they have additional shutdown deals (available for everyone, all day), so it's almost like all day happy hour. Don't miss it!

The moment the banchan (Korean side dishes) arrived and we took our first bites, we knew we'd stumbled upon an outstanding Korean restaurant. Every side dish is prepared authentically and tastes fantastic. Our first main dish to come out was kimchi fried rice with beef. While it isn't made using a fully traditional Korean method, it was absolutely delicious -- easily the best kimchi fried rice I've had in the past few years. We also ordered their signature pork and potato stew. It was excellent; the chili flavour was smooth, and every ingredient was wonderfully seasoned. Our server was incredibly polite and friendly, and we were happy to leave a tip for them. We plan to come back tomorrow evening, but unfortunately, our server told us they might not be working then. This Korean restaurant is highly recommended. If you're staying nearby or travelling in Washington DC, I'd strongly suggest stopping by to enjoy their wonderful Korean food.

Now the review.. where on God's green earth in this day and age does an establishment that sells a hamburger NOT have an extra patty option??? The server was a good dude but told me each patty was an uncharted for an entire burger meal... my order is no bun, no fries, no salad and no fruit.... why the heck would I agree to 25 bucks for a patty as an add on... Ill pay the first hit as a matter of menu price but... not the same for just another patty.. I don't know what sort of vodoo happened here but the good staff figured it out and I got a couple of patties extra without the terrible fee... I did pay extra and thats great. Cant say ill come here again because without a standard approach, I cant say ill get the same price... standards matter. I get it Get on board please... this is not the stone age and we have technology... its also a very very common thing for extra protein.. This is not typical and id guess that less than 2% of the placedls I eat cant figure this out... DC was not a place I'd think would be stuck. Won't be eating here again for this week's stay simply because I dont want to have to wrangle the meal each time ... I just would like to eat and go.. Thank you for figuring it out late at night This is more for management... you got good food and good folks.. fix your POS please.
