Service was alright. The food was pretty disappointing. They screwed up the order and tried to bill me for it. I would expect better quality and flavor from a mid grade canned dog food. This restaurant is so great. Was very pleased with the staff and the timing in which I received my food. Went in for lunch and ordered The chicken Jimador and it was DELICIOUS. Juicy chicken smothered in white cheesee sauce, served with a side of rice and beans. Its was truly a great dining experience! read more

I'm tired of this restaurant how it's so hit or miss with the service. I know it's a well liked restaurant and busy, and most times the service is satisfactory and then they're nights like tonight when you wait forever just to get your order taken. Finally it was that we waited forever for the food and when someone noticed we didn't get the order we were swarmed by workers scrambling to get our food out and by that time mine was lukewarm. I do love the food here but the service needs to get better especially after you drop $70. read more

El Mezcal is the best, hands down. Anyone who says otherwise isn't doing it right. Order the chicken chimichanga and you won't be disappointed. The pork Chile Verde is excellent. Pro tip: get the cheese dip as soon as they bring the chips out. Is it authentic Mexican food? Who cares! Oct. 20, 2019. I had family visiting from out of state (this WAS their favorite Marshfield resturant). Waiter was rude and disrespectful. Refused to accept blame for wrong item received, kept smiling and said no its your fault, would not get correct item). No manager on duty. Lady who was at the register tried helping (was supposed to get one meal comped per her but that didn't happen). We didnt feel like fighting for discount so we left after paying our bill....next time they visit we will eat elsewhere. read more

This used to be pretty good, but I just can't do it anymore. The service has degraded past the point of being acceptable. No matter if it is lunch or dinner, or no matter how busy it is, the staff is always standing around (or even sitting) while you wait for another drink or more chips. I would have loved another margarita or more chips but our waitress didn't think that was important. Waited forever for our food and then when it finally came it was all cold. I agree with the comments about the food being generic or from a can, it has always that way but it was affordable and a good place to eat. The prices have continued to rise but the quality is still generic. The hostesses and wait staff could also use some instruction in just being more friendly or thankful. It doesn't seem to be hurting business because you always have to wait. I'm done, there are better places in Marshfield. read more

This place is awful, I can't imagine why anyone who knows what Mexican food should taste like would eat here. I'm traveling and stopped in to meet someone who seems to think this is good food, but this is the worst "Mexican" food I've ever been served. The service wasn't bad but the food is nasty. The guacamole tasted like plastic, the tortilla chips were at least 2 days stale, the steak tasted like ground beef, and nothing was seasoned not even with salt! Amazing there cheese dip is the best they have many options to pick from. The waiters are very nice and they even do things for your birthday. They will bring an ice cream Sunday and you will were a Mexican hat with them singing happy birthday. My favorite is the pollo El Camino it comes with bacon, there cheese dip, rice, chicken or beef, and you can use tortilla shells, but they come separate so you don't have to use them. read more

Went to eat out on Sat. afternoon and picked your restaurant. We've eaten here many times in the past and have enjoyed your food and service. Not so much on Sat. We were a hungry bunch so went thru our chips and salsa quickly, another bowel promptly replaced our empty. When we received our food to our dismay a hair was found in my youngest childs food. We chose to ignore this and continued on, after a bit we found yet another hair. This did us all in, not one of us was able to finish our meals. We explained the situation to our waitress and her reply to us " that all food is made by men and this could not be their hair." I asked for my daughters meal to be removed from my bill. She stated "take your complaint to the register, it was your hair not ours." At the register I again explained our dilemma, as the two girls exchanged a conversation in Spanish. After a bit one of the girls acknowledged me and stated "our kitchen is made up of men and the hair can not be ours." They did take the price of my daughters meal only after much discussion. So after paying 48 dollars and some change for 2 bowls of hot chips and drinks you can be sure we will never step foot into your place again. I worked in the food business for years but seldom eat out. Thank you for re-enforcing the very reasons that keep me from eating out. In my house service is with a smile, on time and we all speak English. Nothing like being talked about behind my back right in front of me. read more

Our food and server, Raul, were fantastic! Our experience in the lobby was beyond horrible. We had a group of 10 so we called ahead. The lady on the phone asked for a time and said a table would be ready. We waited for 15 minutes before they said "the girl on the phone didn't know we don't take reservations. We will honor it this time though." 25 minutes later we still hadn't been seated (as multiple groups of 5+ walked in and were seated right away). We politely asked how much longer and said we would go somewhere else. The young man taking us to the table said, and I quote "your table is ready, calm down. Jesus Christ." And the lady behind the podium said "it's not like were busy or anything." very rudely. That type of "customer service" should not be tolerated anywhere. However, because our server was so great, our experience was not total sh*t. read more

So I guess no one can state their opinion without the owners making condescending comments. Real professional. I do know authentic mexican food, and have eaten all over the US! Do you make your own sauces, cause is sure doesn't taste like it. Never said anything about meat delivery times, so not sure where that came from, sounds almost defensive. But, you should know that authentic beef fajitas are NOT sirloin, but should be skirt steak. And a little iceberg lettuce does not constitute as vegetables. How about some fresh avocado, fresh pico de gallo, limes, etc. Or how about onions that are actually caramelized? And in regards to Taco Bell, I was making a reference to what you get for your money. The food is not good quality, and overpriced. I could understand if my review was the only negative one, but you have quite a few similar ones from other people also. My wife and I are business owners and we traveled to Marshfield for our Grandson's Birthday. We took the kids to eat at El Mezcal. The staff was very pleasant and our service was good as well. However, when the food arrived, the quality of the meals were the poorest I've eaten. No one but myself ate, in order not to be completely rude. However, I was not going to force my Wife and children to force it down. We had the meals packed in boxes and threw them away when we arrived back home. My wife was so disturbed by the meal that she attempted to inform the manager and owner. She was told that she wasn't too far from the truth about the quality of the food from one of their own employees. However, there was nothing they could do. I am from Mexico and my wife is Caucasian from Wisconsin. We enjoy Mexican food, but for El Mezcal to call itself authentic, to either one of us, was a joke. The owner finally called us after two weeks of attempting to reach him. He started by the usual "I care about my business and it's customer and made excuses, and arguments about our experience and the meals. My wife found him so irrational and unreasonable that she asked me to speak with him. I couldn't reason nor rationalize with him either I let him know I would be informing Better Business Bureau. She called him back to ask for compensation and he simply told her he does not care to nor will he care to address his any of his customers complaints. read more
