FANTASTIC market that has the best hot foods section! Delicious fresh tacos & other great prepared foods. My personal favorite is the tortilla maker they have there in the store! It's neat to watch fresh tortillas being made right there & WOW are they delicious!! We love getting our fresh tortillas from them. I also love their refrigerated salsas/hot sauces....I am obsessed with hot sauces and these are HOT. Very authentic market & friendly staff. El Mirasol is my favorite Mexican food market in the area! They make fresh, in house corn and flour tortillas as well as chips. The standard package of corn tortillas are only $1.25. such a great deal especially when you can but fresh meat in their butcher section to create your own taco feast. I always buy the seasoned beef from the butcher case, it sauteed up nice and is already already perfectly seasoned. They have a produce section full of exotic fresh goodies like cactus and zucchini flowers. I grabbed some lime and whole garlic during this trip. They have a wide array of Mexican candies, pinatas, spices, pots and pans, worship candles, authentic Mexican pastries and desserts! I always grab something from their luncheonette, to go. Today I ordered 3 steak tacos - $3 each and 2 chicken tamales - $1.50 each, to bring home for lunch. It was so delicious and worthy of the struggle to get home fast enough to eat it! I would consider this market a hidden gem right here in Hillsborough County and highly recommend it if you haven't visited it yet. read more

I argued with myself quite few times about whether or not I should post this review.You see, this place has some of the best Mexican food in Tampa Bay Area, hands down. For those of us who have eaten our fair share of Mexican food in the continental US and Mexico, you know how hard it is to get a decent Mexican food in this side of Cuba. So naturally, I worry that people will swarm this place and ruin it for the rest of us, if there are move positive reviews. But alas I lost the argument, so here goes! El Mirasol is definitely authentic. You can taste that the food is freshly made by people who actually care about food. I drive 28 miles (one way) to get here.The servers speak English, so don't worry if you don't speak any Spanish. Trust me, I can't speak spanish to save myself. I just say the names of the food I want to eat, after saying Hola of course, and don't forget muchas gracias after that. Anyway, I always get the tamales (12 for $12, you can mix and match), tacos (pork/beef/chicken, 1.75 each), menudo, mango drink and the various pastries. Some to eat there, some to fill up the fridge until my next visit. Oh don't forget to try the salsas. You can take some to go too. My favorite is the habanero one. read more

Came here based on other YELP reviews. Very warm and family friendly atmosphere. Felt very welcomed. Like being in Mexico. Very traditional authentic Mexican street food. Nothing high end or fancy, but good high fat carboliciousness. Tacos for $1.99 each were just fine. Excellent buffet bar of salsa and pico de gaillo. I had the barbaracoa that was also delicious. Family and kids really enjoyed the unusual fresh fruit Popsicles. Stop by for a small fiesta if you are in the Plant City neighborhood, but I would not drive out of my way to get here. First time ever here after a morning of cycling. Had the tacos. Sampled beef, pork, seasoned pork and fajita meat. They were great in the freshly made tortillas with lots of cilantro and sweet onion. I am from California and since I moved to Florida I find it difficult to find good Mexican food or good markets. I was in Plant City and thought....I bet they have a good Mexican market here. I went to Yelp and El Mirasol was a mile away. Let me just say this place is heaven!!!! They have homemade tortillas corn and flour, churros, tamales, water drinks, ice cream and a ton of other things. The meat is really good and half the price of most grocery stores and everything you need to cook some yummy Mexican food. I will be back for sure. read more

I love this place so much, I have been coming to this Mexican market/ restaurant for about 5 years and the food continues to be authentic and delicious, their carnitas tacos are AMAZING, enough said about their tacos.Another one of my favorite things to get is their tripe soup, yes you hear me lol it's so good and if you are adventurous it might become your favorite too. Among the many delicious things you need to get when you go to El Mirasol is their tamales, I always get the chicken with salsa verde and corn this are so buttery and rich but their pork with red sauce are good too. Now if you love SALSA, this place has a bar with the authentic and fresh made salsas, free when you buy a food item, my all time favorite is the salsa boracha( chunky salsa with tequila). read more

Located next to Big Lots Half of the space is a grocery store with large meat department and produce section. The canned & dried goods are authentic products from Mexico. The other half is a large deli style cafe with approx 20 to 25 tables for seating. The orders are placed at the counter - the food is made on the premises with fresh ingredients from the store. They have an exceptionally large selection of good flavorful food. I'm not talking about simple tacos or enchiladas ~ i'm talking about *Menudo (clear chili based stew made from beef stomach) I know it sounds gross but it's ridiculously tasty, *tamales (self explanatory) *Caldo De Rez (Mexican beef stew) sometimes known as tortilla soup, *Pozole (pork shoulder stew) All of these dishes are typically reserved for special occasions because they are very time consuming. of course they have tacos but served Mexican style. You buy the pulled pork (perfectly seasoned and cooked just right) by the pound. It comes with a 12 tortillas (choice of corn or flour) onion, cilantro, diced tomatoes, and jalapeno peppers. Extra trimmings can be purchased for a very reasonable price. Servers are not very friendly but the food is so good one tends to forgive the long faces. Since 99% of the customers, including myself, are Mexican or Mexican decent the foods are cooked with bold Mexican spices such as cumin. The Bakery is typical Mexican pastries. I'm not as crazy about the sweet bread because the bread tends to be very hard and unless you buy it first thing in the morning. This place could be great if they would consider some changes because there's quite a few that should be made. first of all if you're serving food / working behind the counter you definitely sure as hell shouldn't be serving yourself & eating food behind there ESPECIALLY with no gloves on. That's gross and a little unappealing as a consumer to see that happen. And there was a whole bunch of flies by the ice cream area so much so that a little boy was swatting at them the entire time his parent placed an order. Also a little gross but i understand people are in and out and flies get in so do what you will with that information. Pastries 10/10 they're delicious. My issue with the pastry section is the labeling seems to be out of order ? Maybe my visual comprehension is not where it should be but after triple checking the labels during each visit I've had in the past week alone it seems the label doesn't match the appropriate pastry. The first time i ever visited everything was on point so I'm running with that initial impression so forgive me if this seems harsh. I ended up buying the cinnamon variations of certain things i wanted thinking they were the vanilla base ones without the cinnamon (as I'm allergic) and you know sometimes it's really hard to tell them apart which you know that could be completely just be me being a stupid b**** but I'm pretty sure that me following the labels i should be getting the pastry that's listed . . . But that hasn't been the case. Some of the signs were gone and others out of place, so how are consumers supposed to know what's what ? Idk but that's a little dangerous just fix the labels and it's honestly perfect. My last complaint would be the rotation of pastries like I'm not sure if it's me always missing the timing of when fresh items come out but if something is completely out (or not) a good indicator could be removing the tray from the area if it's out. Check on the items more cause some of them be tasting super stale. Other than all that this is a dope place. read more
