Came here almost 11 years ago. Back then, the food was rough and the beer wasn't cold -- not a great combo. Today, everything has changed for the better. Introducing local craft beer was a smart move. As a SoCal local and craft beer drinker, I can say Tres Islas Mazatlán has one of the closest and tastiest IPA experiences you'll find in all of Sinaloa. It wasn't clear from the reviews i read that this is a basket of fish and chips kind of place. Husband ordered the oyster po boy, which was terrible. Accompanying wedge potatoes were good. I had a shrimp po boy, which was just edible. Sweet potato fries good. The margarita was fine, service barely adequate. No pictures of this food. read more

F.I.S.H. is one of our favorite restaurants in Mazatlan and has been so for the last 10 years or so. It's sort of a beach bar and restaurant about a block from the beach. The food is excellent and relatively inexpensive. The management and staff are friendly and attentive. We especially enjoy Wednesday and Sunday nights when Ezequiel Ojeda entertains. He has a beautiful tenor voice and big presence, both of which he displays as he sings opera, Mexican classics such as "Malaguena," and more contemporary works. We make it a point to join him for dinner at least twice during our vacations. read more

Excellent seafood, service and live music. Outdoor and indoor seating. The live band on the Saturday night we went played reggae. The clam chowder is out of the world good. I praised the owner after having tried multiple versions of chowder in New England. Just the right consistency. Not too thick. Not too watery. Just perfect. And great flavor. I can also speak for the shrimp and mahi tacos, which were also delicious. The only downfall is they were both dressed the same. The mix of potato wedge and sweet potatoes is a very generous portion. My buddy loved his breaded shrimp. I'm a huge fan of places where the owner is present and engages customers, like the owner did here. Apparently she's also the mastermind behind the chowder. My only other knock is the wine selection. Only 4 options by the bottle. read more

WOW! Friends recommended this place and we were totally amazed!!! Hubby tried the clam chowder and the mixed platter of oysters, shrimp, and fish along with wedge fries. My dinner was the fish/wedge fries with shrimp tacos. MAN I am telling you that those tacos were the absolute best I have ever had!!! Margaritas were exceptional as well. Restaurant was so clean, quick and staff is very good. The owner walks about and checks in with everyone. Super nice!! Be sure to say hi to Lola, the Frenchie, who sits on a side counter watching over everyone. The highlight was the music, a regular who only comes in 2 nights a week but because the singer for this night had cancelled he agreed to sing for the night. WHOA, he was amazing!! I've found my new favorite taco place in Mazatlan! I read all the rave reviews about this place and had to seek it out. It's easy to find (near the El Cid resort). There's a large and comfy outdoor dining patio and since the restaurant is off on a relatively quiet side street, you don't get harassed by annoying street vendors hawking their wares. This is obviously a place that caters to tourists in terms of prices, cleanliness, and English speaking waiters. The prices are listed in Pesos at least, but they are quite higher than at other restaurants in town. Think $3-$5 per taco instead of .50 cents per taco. We ordered a lot of food because everything sounded great, but the one item that stood out was the shrimp quesadilla. If you only eat one item here, get this. It's made in the traditional American style (a flour tortilla flipped over lots of cheese and fillings), and it's outstanding. Ditto for the grilled shrimp tacos. The tacos' ingredients are sauteed with olive oil / butter and tomatoes, and the shrimp was large and super fresh. I wasn't a fan of the fresh lobster tacos, but my hubby gobbled them up with abandon. Items that you can skip include the oyster shooter (fresh but less than enjoyable) and the mediocre salsa and chips. We asked for an off-menu frozen mango margarita and it was fantastic. They also have Coke Zero in individual, ice cold cans which made me super happy. The only negatives are that the prices are much higher than elsewhere in town (our lunch was $40 US instead of a typical feast in town that would run no more than $15 US), and the service can be a little too relaxed and unhurried. The food is fantastic, though, and it's a clean and safe place to eat in what can sometimes be a sketchy world of local Mazatlan restaurants. read more

Hubby and I decided to try this place today after a hike at El Faro. We were hot, exhausted and hungry. The place was relatively empty by the time we got there at 2pm. We each ordered a large mug of beer on tap. It was huge!!! Hubby ordered a clam chowder bowl which came with a freshly baked roll. It was delicious. He also tried a shrimp taco that was loaded but lacked some pizzaz. I ordered the mixed platter of Mix an chips that included 3-large shrimp, 3-oysters and 3-fish pieces. It also had a side order of sweet potato fries. It was to die for!! It was so good that my husband decided to try a small order of the fish in chips and of couches was not disappointed . UGH. YUM. I MISS YOU DREADFULLY. LOS ANGELES WILL NEVER COMPARE TO YOU. I'm so sad I ate so much chips and salsa at the beginning that I was majorly full by the time my meal came out. It was my birthday and I am so glad we are here for dinner. Yes, it's a tourist spot so they speak English. It was so so so good. K, food took a while to come out but when it arrived it was all wonderful. I mainly remember the remarkable shrimp quesadilla... my stomach is nostalgic missing it's perfect taste... never will I find this bombness of Mexican food in Los Angeles - NEVER EVER. They were out of lobster tacos so I ordered every other taco. You can add melted cheese to them like a quesadilla (so of course I did) and again, mouth watering yumminess. I would kill if I could fly over to Mazatlan and eat here again. I'm angry at myself for eating here only once... I didn't give a shit about the drinks bc the food was too good, but the mango margarita was probably the best margarita from my whole trip. We also got a seafood salad which was absolutely amazing. We were researching places to eat in Mazatlán and this one had an awesome rating. We had Fish Tacos (scallop, shrimp, salmon & Mahi) They we're absolute amazing!! They give you different sauces you can put on top (the chipotle Mayo was delicious). If you have smaller children that are picky eaters you can order from Mary's and the server will go and put the order in and serve it as well. Overall we were not disappointed. The food here was fantastic. Had tacos, grilled, which I will go back for again before I leave. My daughter had fish and chips which were excellent as well and she is a picky eater. Service was typical for mexico, so slower than we are used to in the states, but much better than some other places we have visited in Mazatlan. Excellent lunch spot my fiancé and I found while visiting Mazatlán from Dallas, TX. We wanted to experience some good fish tacos (not from a Mexican restaurant) and we got them! These tacos were excellent! Loved the beer battered mahi, you can also get them breaded or Baja style of you want. They bring out four types of salsa/aioli to put on top of the tacos, which was nice cause you can choose the amount of spice level you want. Service was great, especially since everyone we interacted with spoke English. The owner has a really sweet dog, Lola, that sometimes roams around on quiet days and will come up and say hi to you. Really fresh food. The friend fish was one of the best I've had...it was crunchy, flaky and very tasty. The place is so located and nice. The prices are a bit in the higher side but I think it's reasonable for the quality and that it caters to American tourist. The service was great. We went to F.I.S.H. On a recommendation from Miguel from El CID Marina. He gave us fabulous advice! The clam chowder is superb, light but absolutely packed with flavor. The F.I.S.H. Ceviche was incredible, with super fresh seafood, just the right amount of chilies and the fresh acidity of pineapple. Finally, the tacos- one with lovely fresh grilled scallops, another with grilled and slightly smoky, perfectly tender octopus, and grilled shrimp that was tender and bursting with flavor. My girlfriend ordered the shrimp taco and fish taco and I ordered a shrimp burrito and ended getting a second burrito to go cause it was that good.
