We had researched the area on our Mapquest and found El Galeon. We went to their website ( which brought us to YELP) where we found they were rated 4.7 out of 5 stars. (The lone "2/3" star came from someone who stated that she had lasagna which was cold but the service fixed the issue after what she felt was a long time) All the other ratings were 5/5 star with many mentions of Francisco who was their waiter.( more of Francisco later). The walk was a 6 min walk from our condo, so we decided we would make El Galeon our evening dining experience. We approached the entrance just off the Mariana where we were met by none other than Francisco himself. He greeted us with smiles and in a very polite and friendly voice he asked if we had made reservations ( we had not) he took us to a very nice table where my wife and I sat comfortably awaiting menus. I made mention to Francisco as to the reviews that brought us to El Galeon with many making mention specifically to him and his great service. He was surprised in hearing people had mentioned him directly and was appreciative.. he lived up to the reviews, the food was amazing (we had shrimp cocktail to start, margaritas and wine to quench our thirst and for the main entrees my wife had pomodoro and I had fettuccini Alfredo.) large portions served with garlic toast. DELICIOUS! Highly recommend!

DO NOT ORDER ICE TEA HERE UNLESS YOU ARE PREPARED TO PAY 6.50USD FOR ONE GLASS WITHOUT ANY REFILLS…read more I PAID 19.50 FOR 3 GLASSES OF ICED TEA. Never in a million years would I have guess that it was 6.00 for ice tea and it came with no refills. Beer, wine, heck even a cocktail would have been cheaper. To say I was shocked when the bill came, would be a giant understatement. Are tea leaves not as plentiful in Mexico as the US? Ok, the great tea caper aside, this was a great little restaurant with an amazing view (ask for a rail seat when making reservations so you get the full view/experience). We ordered the flaming cheese which tasted as fabulous as it was to watch it being made at our table side. We had the taritas (marinated fresh fish) dish as an appetizer as well and we had the cheese on the bread with the fish. Try it, and thank me later. I had the clam linguine which done perfectly. I loved that they added pieces of clams to the sauce rather than just having clams standing alone in their shells. My boyfriend had mahi mahi which he said was delicious but overdone a tad. We were too full for dessert so we can't comment on their selection. Service was a bit on the slow side with our food coming out at an odd pace. I had to ask for refills, but maybe that was a good thing since I was paying, unbeknownst to me, $6.50 each for the refills. Make reservations in advance as this place fills up. Prices were reasonable for the portion (minus ice tea lol). We would come again, if ever in Zihua again.

I've been visiting this area of Mexico for over 20 years, and Emilio's Pizza remains a favorite!…read moreOur family has a tradition of kicking off our trip with pizza on the first night, and more often than not, we find ourselves here. One of the best experiences is enjoying a sunset dinner on the second-floor balcony--sipping wine, sharing a delicious pizza, and having great conversation. A heads-up for first-time visitors: dining in Mexico isn't always about speedy service, so don't expect the fast-paced Western-style experience. That said, the servers are friendly, and the food is well worth the wait. The handmade pizzas are cooked to perfection in a beautiful brick-and-stone oven, and while the menu offers much more, the pizza is the real standout. If you'd rather grab pizza or pastries without dining in, head just across the intersection--look for the white building that resembles a church with a steeple - to the left of that white building you can find Emilios (the to go version). There, you can order the same delicious pizza with a shorter wait time. Highly recommend giving Emilio's a try!

It was very hot while we dined and there was no breeze. A fan would have been wonderful! The bad: You choose 2 or 3 courses for $1300 or $1500MXN. At this price, you expect really exceptional food. This just wasn't the case for us. I ordered the steak, which came with a green sauce and potatoes. The potatoes were delicious. The filet was more like a sirloin but was more tough than a sirloin. It was very disappointing, but more than that, when the server asked how everything was, he seemed as if he already knew the steak was tough. I ended up getting the coconut shrimp (4) instead. They were served on a bed of cooked and spiced apples along with a salad rolled up in thinly sliced jicama similar to a sushi roll. The second course I ordered was dessert. The pictures don't do the presentation justice because it is so dark, but the food is beautiful. Paying this much for coconut shrimp and dessert (basically a molten lava cake with vanilla ice cream) really left me feeling very disappointed. Would not recommend nor return.
