    Shrimp Pasta

Our favorite restaurant in Ixtapa so far! We went for dinner and got a seat that look across into the pier. It was dimly lit with calm Spanish ballad music playing. Our server was Fransisco and he was the best part of the service. He knew every song and could give us information on the artists. He had so much knowledge on the food and the past cooks that influenced the food's preparation. He was very attentive with us and gave us amazing recommendations. We started with the Cesar salad and loved watching how Fransisco prepared it in front of us. It tasted delicious! We ordered the catch of the day and shrimp pasta. They both tasted like five star seafood. We finished with coffee flan and cappuccinos. All the food was divine and worth going back. I recommend 100%

    Sangria

Arrived just as they were opening and they welcomed us in. Started with a glass of sangria with apple and pineapple chunks. It was delish. Caesar salad made table side was amazing...and I consider myself a connoisseur. Had the spaghetti pomodoro and friend had the chicken and lobster medallions. Different friends joining me in Ixtapa next week and I will be taking them here for sure. Can't wait to try what they promote and the best lasagna in Ixtapa.

Delicious Italian cuisine! Had shrimp with pasta. Lots of non-Italian options too! Including Seafood Casserole with 3 cheeses.

DO NOT ORDER ICE TEA HERE UNLESS YOU ARE PREPARED TO PAY 6.50USD FOR ONE GLASS WITHOUT ANY REFILLS…read more I PAID 19.50 FOR 3 GLASSES OF ICED TEA. Never in a million years would I have guess that it was 6.00 for ice tea and it came with no refills. Beer, wine, heck even a cocktail would have been cheaper. To say I was shocked when the bill came, would be a giant understatement. Are tea leaves not as plentiful in Mexico as the US? Ok, the great tea caper aside, this was a great little restaurant with an amazing view (ask for a rail seat when making reservations so you get the full view/experience). We ordered the flaming cheese which tasted as fabulous as it was to watch it being made at our table side. We had the taritas (marinated fresh fish) dish as an appetizer as well and we had the cheese on the bread with the fish. Try it, and thank me later. I had the clam linguine which done perfectly. I loved that they added pieces of clams to the sauce rather than just having clams standing alone in their shells. My boyfriend had mahi mahi which he said was delicious but overdone a tad. We were too full for dessert so we can't comment on their selection. Service was a bit on the slow side with our food coming out at an odd pace. I had to ask for refills, but maybe that was a good thing since I was paying, unbeknownst to me, $6.50 each for the refills. Make reservations in advance as this place fills up. Prices were reasonable for the portion (minus ice tea lol). We would come again, if ever in Zihua again.

One of the best experiences is enjoying a sunset dinner on the second-floor balcony--sipping wine, sharing a delicious pizza, and having great conversation. A heads-up for first-time visitors: dining in Mexico isn't always about speedy service, so don't expect the fast-paced Western-style experience. That said, the servers are friendly, and the food is well worth the wait. The handmade pizzas are cooked to perfection in a beautiful brick-and-stone oven, and while the menu offers much more, the pizza is the real standout. If you'd rather grab pizza or pastries without dining in, head just across the intersection--look for the white building that resembles a church with a steeple - to the left of that white building you can find Emilios (the to go version). There, you can order the same delicious pizza with a shorter wait time. Highly recommend giving Emilio's a try!

In our observation if you know the chef you will have great service, but sadly with even with a reservation our experience was just okay. The problem was evident when they seated almost every table in the restaurant all at 6:30. There were at least 5 tables with 6-8. It took 30 minutes to take our order and our food was delivered to our table 2 hours and 6 minutes after we were seated. At the 90 minute mark they came by to apologize and say our food would arrive soon. 30 minutes later we were told five minutes and the first dishes arrived after 7 minutes and the last about 10 minutes after the committed 5 minutes. We understand the kitchen can get backed up. The biggest frustration is that the staff basically ignored the problem for 90 minutes leaving us alone for almost all of that time. The staff brought us more drinks when they told us it would be five more minutes. They also comped our table a free flan for dessert. But they seemed upset with us for not being overly gracious about the fact that we just wanted our food and we heard several apologies that were an apology followed by "but...". It was just clear that the tables who knew the chef and staff received a higher priority. I observed two tables being rushed out to make way for friends of the chef. There was another table that came in about 20 minutes after us that also had to wait close to 2 hours for their food. I share all this to say, if you plan to eat here, arrive 45+ minutes before sunset and be sure to connect with the staff. The curries (red and yellow) were very good with solid levels of spice and amazingly fresh veges. The chicken satay had a very good sauce. Great sizes for the portions of rice. The Pad Thai flavor was average - it lacked cilantro and was shy on peanuts and no lime. Flan was some of the best we ever had. They have a limited wine menu and several options for beer.

It was very hot while we dined and there was no breeze. A fan would have been wonderful! The bad: You choose 2 or 3 courses for $1300 or $1500MXN. At this price, you expect really exceptional food. This just wasn't the case for us. I ordered the steak, which came with a green sauce and potatoes. The potatoes were delicious. The filet was more like a sirloin but was more tough than a sirloin. It was very disappointing, but more than that, when the server asked how everything was, he seemed as if he already knew the steak was tough. I ended up getting the coconut shrimp (4) instead. They were served on a bed of cooked and spiced apples along with a salad rolled up in thinly sliced jicama similar to a sushi roll. The second course I ordered was dessert. The pictures don't do the presentation justice because it is so dark, but the food is beautiful. Paying this much for coconut shrimp and dessert (basically a molten lava cake with vanilla ice cream) really left me feeling very disappointed. Would not recommend nor return.
