While dining today I was halfway through my meal when I noticed black hair in my food as im bald and my gf has red hair it was obviously not ours when I showed the manager he offered a $4.50 discount on a $15 dollar meal that was unable to finish and couldn't bring myself to eat anything else after finding the hair. Haven't been here in years so when we were driving by we decided to try it for lunch. I'd actually go 3.5 today. Ordered fajita chicken and beef combo with black beans and Mexican potatoes with cheese. My wife order chicken fajitas with the potatoes. The meat came out sizzling but Thts pretty much where it stopped. The rest was just warm to include the tortillas. The meat was tender and had a decent flavor. The onions and peppers could have used a little more caramelization. The black beans with cotea cheese were really good. The potatoes were as well just not hot enough. The set up is cheese, salsa, chips and tortillas. I asked for the hotter of the sauces which was good but not with a lot of heat so don't expect tht. Again good deep color and flavor. We won't rush back out there but would go back. Wasn't very busy for noon though. read more

El Niño is the local Mexican restaurant in town, and has been for many years. I have been here countless times, but I have never reviewed it. I enjoy eating here from time to time, but today we had a really good experience. We had a group of 16, and they took really good care of us. There were a lot of teenage boys, so the waitresses were kept busy refilling the tortillas, chips, and queso! My taco salad was very good, and everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals as well. Thank you to the staff for making sure we had a great day celebrating our friend's birthday. We loved his song and the giant hat he had to wear. read more

Took some coworkers there as a treat to them. We all were impressed by the cleanliness and relaxing atmosphere. We were seated quickly and our server appeared quickly, wearing a smile. She made recommendations when we asked and a couple of us tried them. Erika was a pleasure to talk to. She got our orders right...the first time, lol. Very attentive, coming to check several times to see if we needed anything. I thought the beef nachos needed more seasoning, but the queso was great. I'll go back for sure. I ordered $34 worth of food and I didn't get what I'm supposed to get he said he was gonna send me a gift card so I can come back and try it I ordered the fajita platter with 2 sides and all I got was the meat and peppers no tortilla shells to put them in no side orders all I got was chips and salsa And my daughter-in-law ordered a wrap with chicken with no cheese and onions and she got the cheese which that she said it was OK but she cannot have any dairy products. The food was, at best, mediocre/garden variety Tex-Mex. (The "queso" was pretty bad, though -- cornstarch-laden and almost opaque. Yuck.) The men's room was dirty -- always a big no-no for me, and for most humans who (gasp!) want things to be sanitary and well kept. My waitress was kind, though, and quite helpful. Her? HER? I always get the chicken flautas, they're delicious. The rice is okay and beans are pretty good just watery. The queso is pretty gross, but they make up for it with the delicious white queso you can order separately. I'm from TX, so cheese and sopapillas are never complimentary, so that really didn't phase me. Food was mediocre but that is not the worst. My wife was actively eating and the server took it. Same thing happened to my cup twice. Server said he was new but this is pretty basic. I also had a charge for eating after four even though it was 2:00. I asked and the server got someone who was helping him. I was told that this was because it was Sunday. I pointed out that the menu did not state this charge and the lady looked at me like I was crazy and just stood there. By the way I have blonde hair on top up that I ask for chicken that's why I open the enchiladas to check. I told the waitress and she was rude like it's my fault it's there and didn't say sorry and brought the check like I'm going to eat the food after seeing a hair in it. By the way I'm not the type to complain and the rude waitress still got a tip even tho she needs a attitude adjustment. I really wanted to like this place! Like really wanted to like it.... That wasn't the case. From the moment I walked in the door it was a disaster. I walked in and went up to the hostess station. I was never greeted however made eye contact with three separate employees and someone that walked in after me was actually greeted before me by about 3 minutes. When they were about to seat her that's when I was finally acknowledged. The chips and salsa came out with some Queso and I ordered a Margarita which happened to be the best part of the meal. Both the salsa and Queso cups barely had anything in then. No harm there the salsa was oddly sweet and the chips a bit stale. When I looked around I saw other tables with tortillas so I asked for those when the server finally came back around. I was pleasantly surprised they were homemade and very good. I ordered the Nino sampler and the tres amigos. The bean and chicken nachos on the sampler were soggy when they cane to the table, a bit of a let down. The cheese quesadilla was good. Lol really no margin for error there. On the tres amigos the rice was ok those beans though were overly salty. The chicken enchiladas were not bad but the fried eggs on top I would of expected over easy or over medium..... not over hard, the yolk was completely cooked through. So if you have someone invite you out to El niños order you a Margarita and stick with the complimentary tortillas..... read more

Well, for a middle of nowhere small town kinda place I guess it's okay. But really that's no excuse. There dishes were pretty average price for your generic mexican places, the lunch specials were cheap. We showed up at 3:15. I walked in and no one was in the room. I picked a table, set the kids down, and grabbed my own menu and sat down. Then a couple minutes later a waitress showed up and apologized for being indisposed. Service from that point was decent, I was checked on often, but when I actually asked for something it took her two or three trips to the back before she remembered to bring me the spoons I asked for. (There were no spoons on the table) At this point about 3:40 there were now 5 tables in the restaurant and two servers. They off setups which consist of a weak cheese sauce they call queso (like many restaurants in the OKC area), and salsa with chips-no tortillas sorry. THe chips were good but the salsa...not enough flavor. Not enough tomato if that makes sense. The food we ordered on whole was dry and bland. I tried both chicken and beef enchiladas with 'ranchero sauce' and beans and rice. The chicken dry and relatively flavorless, beef very much the same, and the rice was some of the plainest driest rice I've ever seen in a Mexican joint. When ordering the server said that the 'ranchero' sauce would be spicy, however it ended up being as bland as the salsa, actually it seemed to be the salsa just heated up. and there wasn't enough cheese ontop. I don't think there was any inside the enchiladas. Also, at the end of the meal she walked up and said, "So, would you all like a sopapilla?" I said that sounded good and she said "3? Okay, brb." Some similar restaurants in the area have given them complimentary, and she didn't mention a charge, so I was a bit surprised to see a charge for them on the bill. That kinda of thing upsets me, however they were only $1.50(for all three) so I just paid and didn't cause a fuss because I was in a hurry to get out of there with the three kids. I was never specifically asked if I wanted a refill or given one until I recieved the desert and specifically requested when while she took my card for payment. It wasn't such a big deal because they have very large glasses, but I was slightly perturbed when the glass came back full of tea, but no ice. That might fly in Europe, but not in the South on a hot day. read more

My husband and I were passing through and got a referral from a local to try this place. It was the middle of the afternoon but the food was delicious. Mariana, our server was very friendly. We split the chicken Monterey which was good but we highly recommend the cheesecake dessert. Oh baby, you can skip lunch and go to the dessert. I've been here three times. Each time service was extremely fast, prices decent, food was hot, fresh and very tasty. Home made tortillas are excellent!!! Wait staff returns to the table very often. Horrible service . I came in and ordered a single quesadilla meal to go waited 30 minutes a table of four people that came in well after me was served before my one meal came out . ( there were maybe 10 customers max I had arrived 25 minutes after they opened . I was alone for almost 10 minutes before anyone else arrived)I spoke to the owner who just laughed and said he wouldn't do anything for the wait because I said I waited 30 minutes and he said he knew I hadn't .. I have the tracker on my phone to even prove how long I had been there . I told him that I would be letting it be known the service I received he said that's fine I've been hear 20 years it won't hurt. I'm visiting from out of town. We went to El Niño to enjoy a good meal. The meal was decent. The food was good but the service not so much. There was 5 adults and 2 children with us. The waitress would stand at one end of the table and have us yelling to the other end of the table for our orders or refills that was really annoying. Portion size was great besides the fajitas a friend ordered. Not worth the 14 bucks for a single order in my opinion. In conclusion to our visit at El Niño our server took the money that was given to her for the bill and as we were leaving ran outside saying we did not pay our bill and made a scene about it. She left it in her apron and it took 10 mins for her to figure out she was in the wrong. It was a bad experience because of the waiting staff. Took the wife out for Mexican after Bible study last night. We were both pleasantly surprised by both how good the food was and how good the service was. I ordered El Hombre: chunks of beef sitting on top of potatoes and a bed of rice, topped by two fried eggs. It was fantastic. Tortillas, queso, salsa and chips were all pretty standard fare for the area, which is a compliment (IMO). Portion sizes were great; we both have another meal's worth of food, and it's slightly less expensive than a place like Ted's (probably about $1-2 cheaper, on average). The dining room was nothing special, but it wasn't cramped, so that's nice. Absolutely no problems, the only reason it's not getting five stars is it doesn't quite rank up there with the absolute best Mexican restaurants I've eaten at, but given the location (really, you aren't going to do much better in Harrah), the price and my experience, I can happily recommend this to anyone who wants to go out and enjoy a traditional Ok-Mex meal. read more
