Everything about this place was great. I felt Bad walking in at 9 pm when they close at 10, but they were like come on in. Complimentary chips and salsa were good and when we asked for a side of queso they brought that out and that was delicious! We had the shrimp fajitas for dinner with a side of rice and beans. It was fantastic. Service was great and fast. When we went to leave we wanted to take the left over queso home. We asked for a to go container and they brought us a container full. Horrible service. Manage/Server wanted to lecture my fiance on how to order her dish after THEY needed it up twice. It was beef and cheese nachos? How hard is that. Manager/server got rude and attitude. Left without paying since we didn't touch our food. Been a customer here for 5 years. Horrible. Never be back Negative -1 star. read more

We just witnessed the most bizarre situation at this restaurant. Walked in to see if they could accommodate a group of 18 people. Place was nearly empty, and the hostess told us they could but it would all need to be on one ticket because of the size. It was all couples, so we knew that would be complicated. We then asked what the maximum group size would be for individual checks, the hostess said "Eight, but let me verify with the manager." She comes back with the manager, and he says "What's the problem?" We didn't know it was a "problem" trying to bring this place business. We kindly explained we had a large group, but were curious if we could break them down to smaller sizes so we could have our own checks and make it easier on the staff. He said "We won't be able to do that. If I let you guys do that then everyone else that comes in I will have to let them as well." At this point, we are quite confused. We can't sit together without being on one bill. But we also can't break our group across separate tables apparently. One of us asks "So you're saying that if we all walked in here in groups of four, we couldn't sit at booths and be on our own checks?" The manager responds with a sigh and perturbed tone "I guess we can do whatever is easy." Which at this point, we clearly feel like we have frustrated this owner or GM. We all got the vibe that we weren't welcome, and many of us instantly felt like our food would be compromised in some way. It was, for no apparent reason, very difficult to give this business $300 to $400 in revenue plus tips for the service staff. Our understand that big parties can be complicated to manage, but when your patrons offer to make things easier and it becomes more complicated - you obviously have much bigger problems to work through. Strangely enough, the front side of the business had a new banner that said "Under New Management". Clearly they've made a poor decision with the current team here. It's unfortunate that service industry workers on this restaurant lost an opportunity to make money here because of a policy that doesn't make sense. read more

Great service tasty food and fun environment. Big enough portions for a small family per dish

I'm a regular at El Nopal - from Florence through the old one that use to be in Frankfort, but especially at Eastern Parkway and Zorn Avenue. This is one of the better El Nopals, and should definitely have a higher rating. The decor is the same as 90% of El Nopals, and 90% of all Mexican restaurants - yellow, stucco-ish walls, lots of ceramic cacti and lizards, etc. One nice feature (that reminds me of the Westport Road location) is a separated bar. You know what that means, right? Yup, I can have a few too many beers or margaritas without bothering all the little kiddos whose parents bring them in for the a la carte menu! The service at this location is good, but not spectacular. The food, however, is much better than at many of the other locations. In particular, they make a dish that I can't find at any other El Nopal - pollo cascada! Trust me, it's well worth the moderate price of the dish...chicken, cauliflower, broccoli, green beans, slices of baby carrots, etc all on rice and smothered in white queso. It is truly one of the best dishes I've ever had in a Mexican restaurant, and I wish that all El Nopals would add it to their menu. If you're actually in La Grange for, well whatever-on-Earth happens in that little place, then this is the best place to stop! read more

I really don't have much to say other than it's El Nopal. Yum!! The food is always consistent and tasty at all of the locations I've visited. I ordered the lunch chicken flauta meal with refried beans and rice. I also added queso on top. You can't go wrong!!! read more

It is good and the Mon-Sat lunch prices are great, especially for the amount of food you get. It isn't my go-to place for "real" Mexican, but I can't complain about the quality of the good. The shredded chicken and shredded beef that are in a lot of the items are both juicy and flavorful. I'm pretty sure I've had a least 5 bowls of the tortilla soup this month between this location and one in Louisville. Service is friendly and fast,plus no one bats an eye when we come in wearing riding clothes and covered in hay and horse hair, sweat, and yuck. read more

Prices are a bit high but luckily we had a coupon. Food was pretty good. They did take our order down wrong at first. I could tell the person in the kitchen was NOT HAPPY about that and was rude to his employees about it that is why I removed a star. Me and my family ate here for the first time on Tuesday. Our server Gabriel was phenomenal it was the best dining experience we've ever had. Defiantly will be returning. Highly recommend just make sure you ask for Gabriel. read more

My girlfriend and I are pretty regular here. We enjoy the food and love that is has TVs if there is a sport event on we didn't wanna miss. The reason I can't give this a five star is because we once had a major service issue and it was the kind you do not forget. Best Mex in la grange. But that is like the best Yugo ever made. Still isn't real Mexican food. The carne asada tacos are the closest to the real thing. Get a side of guacamole to put on the tacos and it tastes good. It will cost you $13 for the tacos and a side of guac.
