After going to a Dr appointment we decided to go to lunch at Gustavo's LaGrange location. It's a large square building with the walls painted in beautiful bright Mexican decor, with lots of decorations all around. All of the Gustavo's have the same menu and this was Taco Tuesday, so we knew what we wanted to eat. We went in and was immediately taken to a booth and our server, Jacobo was there to take our order. We each had 2 Soft Tacos with Grilled Chicken and a Small Cheese Dip. It was pretty empty when we got there but it started filling up with families and I just really loved watching them start eating their chips and dips! Jacobo came by our table about 4-5 times to see if we were ok. He was really friendly and asked us to come back again. We stopped here for lunch and were very happy. It's hard to do a healthy meal at a Mexican restaurant, but they offered a protein bowl that was perfect! The bar made my wife a perfect Paloma too! Good service and nice clean dining room. My only complaint is that I found it pricey for the portions. My bowl 17 bucks and I felt that was way too high for the amount. It's been a while since I wrote a review so I thought it was time. We chose to have lunch there today and I'm glad we did. When you walk in you are greeted right away by a very friendly employee who shows you to a table of your choice. The lunch has many delicious choices and I chose the MARISCOLANDIA a delicious assortment of scallops, large shrimp and fish cooked with onions, mushrooms, red and yellow bell peppers,zuchinni and yellow squash and served with rice, crisp romaine lettuce and fresh-cut tomato. It was absolutely scrumptious. My wife chose the FAJITA QUESADILLA An 8-inch flour tortilla filled with your choice of grilled steak or chicken, onions, bell peppers and tomatoes and topped with cheese sauce. Also absolutely delicious. I even tried a Mexican Beer which was terrific. We were served by four different servers and every one of them gave us outstanding service. I cannot say enough good things about Gustavos. If you are looking for a nice place to have lunch, at reasonable prices, this is the place. Can't wait to go back. read more

Great place to eat and the staff is great. A larger than expected menu, great cocktails and bar menu as well. This place is a favorite restaurant to take out of town guests to on a regular basis. The portions are average in size and they do update menu options often. The seafood boil they have was legit. The different fajitas dishes, I recommend all of them! Well, this place finally pushed me to my limit. Me and my daughter went when it was fairly slow, and man oh man did they put up a brick. The food was the same ole same ole, but what killed it: the service. We got seated quickly, and our drinks were out in fairly swiftly. After that though, it's like we were totally forgotten about. The food came--brought by a different waiter mind you, and we saw our waiter once more. No drink refills were to be had. The guy didn't even bring us the check. After waiting for a long time I finally stood up and someone else realized I was about to bounce. Luckily he stepped up, printed the bill, and we were on our way. Tonight we dined here with a group of friends for a retirement celebration. I like the outdoor dinning area. The place was busy. The server was quick taking our drink orders which was impressive considering the large group. Graving grilled veggies I ordered the vegetable fajitas. There was a good selection of vegetables. Squash, onions, mushrooms, peppers and tomatoes. It would have been great had they been grilled and not steamed. I was very disappointed with the dish. It came with rice, beans, lettuce, sour cream and guacamole. This would have been the perfect meal for me had the vegetables been grilled not steamed. Plate didn't even have the traditional fajitas sizzle when it arrived at the table. I must say the waiters were great tonight, food was out fast and the empty plates were cleared promptly. I love this place and the little bit that I know him I believe Gustavo is a good man. Everything on the menu is delicious but I really like the things you can't get at other Mexican restaurants and at the top of that list is the molcajete. I've taken a picture but it's similar to a fajita served in a bowl with veggies and meat including an option or two that have cactus. Cactus is actually very good, with the consistency of a vegetable, and I've never seen it on a menu before. A margarita is the perfect beverage to wash down your cactus plus I'm a VIP here so I'm kind of a big deal! read more

Gustavo's was a pretty nice dinner selection after a long day at the Quarry. The restaurant is located in a little shopping center and had a lovely outdoor patio, so that we were able to enjoy the beautiful weather. The service was a little 'meh' but the food was really good. I was a little saddened that they only gave us mild salsa, where most Mexican restaurants will also give you hot. I started out with a margarita and it was great. The size was pretty small but I'm assuming they did not have any other sizes since our server did not ask me. It was a little hard to communicate him, as it did not seem like he was able to understand a lot of what we were saying. I ordered the Shrimp and cheese tacos, a combination I never realized I would have loved so much! For dessert we split an order of the Oreo churros, which was an absolute delight. After we were finished eating though, it was a little frustrating to get our check since our server was sitting near our table with a couple other employees chatting. Still a good choice though to satisfy your cravings if you're in the mood for Mexican. read more

I was skeptical. Most Mexican establishments like this which are typically found in strip malls all taste the same. Gustavo exceeded my expectations. Food had a fantastic taste. The ONLY reason i couldn't give 5 stars. The chips were the typical thick tortilla chips. I have often said when one of these places chooses to serve the thin tortilla chips which you find at Chueys you will lock down the Mexican food business for 30 miles. Thought the service was a little slow. Overall, i would recommend this establishment. Thumbs up for making this a great place to eat. read more

We landed here looking for a close, local place to enjoy Mexican cuisine and are we glad we did! Just a great overall dining experience with exceptionally fast service. Very casual and laid back, good food and comparable pricing to similar restaurants. The meal starts with the staple of Mexican restaurants: NEVER-ENDING tortilla chips and salsa! The salsa is good, has a slight spiciness and a touch of cilantro to accentuate it. Most similar joints we have dined at simply open a can of crushed tomatoes and pour it in bowls, calling it salsa, not the case here. I am a burrito lover and my better half enjoys fajitas. I opted for a Burrito supreme and she had the 3 pigs fajitas which I believe to be Gustavo's specialty. It is quite different from your typical sizzling platter of beef and chicken. Instead it's bacon, chorizo and pulled pork that is seared with onions and peppers and served with flour tortillas, guacamole (some of the best I've ever had!), sour cream, lettuce, pico de gallo, etc. There were enough leftovers for a second meal with the fajitas. The menu is also kid friendly. Mine opted for a hot dog and a corn dog with fries which they both enjoyed. Anyone that reads my reviews knows my children are picky. They ate most of the dinner here and absolutely loved the fries. They even got creative and started dipping their fries in the queso appetizer we had. Last but not least, there's a full bar here. I couldn't resist a margarita, on the rocks with salt. It was really good and only $3.49. If you're in the area, try Gustavo's out, you will not regret it! read more

Wow, great experience from the first moment we stepped the La Grande location...we were greeted right away and she found us a table. I went to the restroom and noticed there was only 2 empty tables in the entire restaurant, and I thought the 5 star reviews had to be right: Next came deciding what to eat, I had the 3Amigos fajitas & my husband had the shrimp tacos and of course we had to try one of the margaritas. I decided on Gustova's Rita & again, it was delicious! Everything was delicious & the service was amazing. Food & drinks came out quickly. I've ate here before and had the Chicken and Rice, which was good. Yesterday, March 1, 2023, I really wanted to try the Spinach Salad and add some Grilled Shrimp to it but apparently the Shrimp would have been $1.00 each extra, which I would have paid but the Server had me confused on how many Shrimp I could get. So I chose the next Salad which said Chicken, and the menu indicated you could also add Shrimp to it. The Menu reads as though you can get grilled chicken on your Salad and then add Shrimp for an up charge. When I requested this, the Waiter stated $1.00 per each grilled shrimp added. He told me I COULD NOT get Chicken and Shrimp both. Either the menu is misleading or he was confused. I ended up getting just the Shrimp. The Grilled Shrimp was Delicious and there were 6 Shrimp on my Salad. Most of the Salad was good, but the lettuce underneath, which was supposed to be Romaine, was in fact Iceberg lettuce. It was WET and yucky! The bottom of the plate was full of water. I couldn't eat the lettuce. So I just ate the Shrimp and the few Strawberries, and couple slices of Avocado that were on the Salad. This was very Disappointing. The Server was "nice" but not at all enthused about helping me, the customer or communicating effectively. I looked for a Manager to talk to to try to get some Clarity but there wasn't anyone around. This is unusual b/c this location is usually very well staffed. I was thankful to have something to eat though and as always the Chips and Salsa were good. I DID end up tipping a good amount anyway though b/c, well, being a Server in a Restaurant is a hard job. **Refill on my Beverage, which was the Lemonade and over $3.00 wasn't offered. However, when I asked for a refill to go the Server did bring it to me. The Salad wasn't worth the $9.99 price. IF I return to this location I'll know to NOT get any Salad off the Menu. read more

This is probably our favorite, ever, Mexican restaurant. A friend of ours got us hooked. Today was my twin sons 18th birthday and so they wanted to go have lunch at Gustavo's when one of my sons got off work. We were a party of seven and even with the new guidelines of tables at least 6 feet apart, they were able to accommodate all seven of us. I usually like to get the nachos steak fajita. It is a huge plate of stirfried vegetables and strips of steak with lettuce tomato guacamole (and if you like sour cream). It is always more than enough to eat. The waiters always seem amused at my terrible Spanish, so that is always fun. read more

In a strip mall surrounded on one side by a Chinese buffet, and on the other by an American pub. You can't much more international than this! Let's cook at Gus's! Nice place, nice decor, very pleasant server and food was very good. Definitely a good Mexican grill! Stopped here again over the weekend while traveling home. It's worth the very short drive off the interstate. It is very appealing as you come up to the restaurant with the outdoor seating and plants.
