Look, I'm going to partially blame myself for ordering "Hawaiian fajitas" in a Mexican restaurant in rural Indiana, but taking that out of the picture it was pretty solid "Tex mex" style food with super speedy service and great prices. Flavors were spot on (except for my fajitas! lol) and drinks came quick. Atmosphere is a bit bar like and sparse and loud but everyone was sitting inside because of the weather. Clean. Friendly. Close to the soccer fields! It's instantly recognizable as El Nopal when you walk through the door. So, why the different name? It's a smaller floor plan. Thus, "ito" for small. The food is every bit as good as any El Nopal. Lunch portions every bit as large. My grandson went with these cheese enchilada and an order of queso and just wolfed it down. My daughter-in-law went light with two ala carte chicken tacos. My wife went with the lunch order of shrimp fajitas, I went with steak fajitas. We both brought home dinner. Apparently,the folks at El Nopalito have big appetites. Single serving size is extremely generous and still value priced. I remain a fan of El Nopal(ito). read more

This is one of my favorite Mexican joints, in or near Corydon. Never had a bad meal, never skimpy on portions. My new favorite is the chicken taco salad. But anything I order there is delicious. Service is friendly and fast. The atmosphere is welcoming and it's easy to access. Parking can be a little cramped on busy days. read more

Today, Sexy Beast and I were out running errands. You know, bank, grocery store, pharmacy, all that jazz. We started our day a little late which pushed lunch back to about 3:00pm. We arrived at El Nopalito and were seated at about 2:55pm. It took a few minutes to get drinks ordered and chips to the table so by the time we ordered, we were informed that the lunch menu was no longer available (it's only available until 3:00pm). No problem. We amended our desires to fit the service schedule. Sexy Beast ordered some burrito plate and I ordered the Shrimp Fajitas. I specified that they were to be made without onions. The food arrived and there onions everywhere. I pointed out that my order was wrong and was met with a bit of attitude. The plate was removed. About a minute later, the waiter who took the order appeared at the table to argue with me about what I ordered. I'm perfectly fine with a mistake being made and the situation rectified. I am not okay with the wait staff arguing with me about what I did and did not order. I was fine with the error right up until the waiter decided to argue with me about it. The original plate was returned to the table and I (with the help of Sexy Beast) picked the damn onions out of it. Good food or not, I won't be returning to El Napolito. Recently, we have been ordering the vegetarian quesadillas, which are huge and include lettuce, tomato, sour cream and guacamole. We also get an order of rice and beans to share. This place is amazing!! I'm extremely satisfied. The arroz con pollo was a great portion especially for the price. And they put a plethora of queso on top. Unlike some other mexican restaurants in the southern Indiana area. The meal was $3 less than any other place I've been to around here and also more food. Highly recommended. This is one of many places that have drastically raised their prices far beyond actual inflation. All entrees were 25-40 percent higher than before. $12-16 fir mist entrees that used to be $9-12. It is amongst the highest priced Mexican restaurants we've ever visited. But food was very mediocre. This was not our first time to eat here and we went back because we enjoyed it the first time. The food is wonderful if you like Mexican style food. I had the Supreme Enchiladas and my friend had the Carnitas. They do serve chips and salsa along with your drinks while you wait for your dinners. The waiter however was not the most friendly. It was like he was just going through the motions and was mono toned and lacked any kind of enthusiasm. But even though, he did do his job and we gave him an above average tip. The dinners are plentiful and there is way more food than most can eat. They will give you a container to take home your leftovers. I feel the menu prices to be reasonable, especially with the amount of food they serve. This is a winner and I will go back and recommend you give it a try if you like Mexican or Texmex type food. read more
