    El Diablo Burrito

If you don't know where La Loma is, you may pass it by. If you do pass by, make sure you turn around or you will miss a great place to eat. I am a huge fan of tacos, so I had to try at least one. The campechano was extremely flavorful without being overly greasy, like some I have had before. My son, who is a man of few words, only said that the quesadilla was 'good'. But, he cleared his plate, and we all know that actions speak louder than words. With a name like el Diablo, one would expect a super spicy burrito. It wasn't. Which was a bit disappointing. But the chicken was tender and the burrito was stuffed to bursting with lots of goodies, so how can one truly complain? Besides the good food, La Loma has superb service. I highly recommend this place.

One of the faves of wife and I. Friendly staff, great service, and great food make for a excellent time! We love the quaintness of the restaurant and love the outdoor patio seating in front. Updated menus make it super easy to find what you want. Afterwards, we like venturing next door to the grocery of the same name. Go to the back and the right, and you'll happen upon some of the best ice cream ever. Just don't tell everyone

This place doesn't get 5 stars for being the fanciest place. In fact it doesn't look like much from the outside. But go inside and order off the menu and you'll taste Mexican food that is just like my mother would make. While other Mexican restaurants may have that one best taco you must try, or have innovated into a delicious fusion of authentic and foreign flavors, this place gets 5 stars for Mexican authenticity. It isn't a "oh you have to try this dish" type of place but more of a "now this is where to get a homemade Mexican type of meal place". Seriously. When I bite into the frijoles(beans) and chorizo(Mexican sausage), I can picture my mother feeding us telling us to " be careful, it's hot" as we tried to blow off the heat just enough to be able to bite into it as fast as possible. This place has half a dozen booths inside with a few tables in the middle but boasts several more tables in its outdoor patio which is a good spot to watch cars drive by and chat when the weather is comfortable. I've been here a couple dozen times in the past couple of years and not much has changed; I'm always grateful that the the same authentic taste in the food has remained the same. The hole in the wall feel makes me feel comfortable coming here in gym clothes or taking a date to taste a real authentic Mexican dish. The menu has most of these authentic dishes I speak of but several "Tex-Mex" dishes seem to have slowly made its way on the menu in the past year. I always recommend getting the dishes you don't recognize when going for authentic. I've seen many non Spanish speaking people come in here and the waitresses have always seemed to manage fine and the menu is pretty descriptive (in English language) on what a dish has so don't let that steer you away. Also it's only a few minute drive from downtown Louisville and is an easy on and off the expressway type of place. Give this place a try!

Phenomenal! Absolutely delicious. From the outside I don't know what to think, but some of the nicest people cooking some of the best food I've ever eaten. Sometimes that's just no words to describe certain experiences. You should really just come in and try it out. I had carne asada today, it's thinly sliced but so delicious. I could've eaten a lot more. The peppers and onions were great to go with it. The chips and salsa are great. I'm a big fan of salsa and they have some great stuff they're making. I highly recommend them to anyone. I'll definitely be back. Great job La Loma you've won me over for life!

Amazing and authentic. First off, don't be discouraged by the outside, the inside and food were great. They have a small covered patio in front with about 3 tables, as well as all staff were wearing masks. Our waitress was super friendly and quick. She spoke English well despite some of the previous complaints and was super sweet. My husband, friend and I came here for lunch on a Saturday. It was not loud or crowded as some previous posts had stated, but had a steady stream of people. This is a great sign for any restaurant. We ordered a Michelada, Coronita margarita, and Horchata. All were delicious but the Horchata was the best I've had. Not too much cinnamon but had a little punch. It's not on the menu so ask...We ordered the queso and Paleta Super Special which consisted of shrimp, octopus, clamato, lime etc. Anything with Clamato is a winner for me. It was nice, you could taste the cilantro (my favorite herb) plus onion and it was spicy. I LOVE SPICY FOOD. The queso was good but a bit runny. I would only order it again if the chorizo was in it. It needed something to grab onto the chips with. I ordered the Camarones A La Crema, aka.. shrimp with Cream cheese. It was not overpowering, and was a nice mix with the shrimp, rice and sub beans. I just wish it had some kind of kick to it. Remember, I like spice. It was a bit heavy but I would order again. Due to the heaviness I have lunch for tomorrow. I also ordered a Tripa Taco to go. I used to hate Tripe until I had it in a taco and now I'm obsessed. This one was good but I wish it had more spices. Again...I like spice. Doesn't need to be hot spice, but a bit more seasoning. I would still order it again though but add cojita cheese to it. The fajitas and enchiladas were tasty as well per the men, not bland and smelled amazing. Very authentic. All and all the portions were huge, the flavor was authentic and the service was great. My only complaint is I wish they provided little plates for the Appetizers because everything was messy and dripping all over the table.. which means it was delicious. We for sure will be back. So many things we want to try.

Hands-down one of my favorite Mexican places to go to locally. It's affordable and food is always delicious. can't go wrong with La Loma!

I thought all the excellent reviews had to be exaggerations so we popped in for a try. This place is excellent! When a Mexican restaurant is full of all Hispanic families when you walk in I believe that is a great first sign of authenticity. And it was. Only one table left out of 12 and a bar. The menu is in Espanol for the most part, but there are lots of pics. Expect to have fun and not of much talking because the music is loud. Fun upbeat Latin music, of course. The kids loved it! I loved it!

I absolutely love this place! The servers and employees are always so friendly. The food is always fresh and hot. The taquitos de pollo are my favorite but the tacos de lomo are another go to. They always have great beans and rice, which is usually hit or miss at most restaurants. If you haven't tried a Cocktel de Camarone, do it. You won't be sorry. And if you like it really caliente, try the Aguachil, you'll love me for the recommendation but your gonna hate me the next day The servers as well as the glue that holds this place together is Carla, Coco and Ana, you'll love them. Always smiling and very helpful. Do yourself a favor and check them out. You can choose from inside or outside dining.

I wish I could join the chorus of 4 and 5 star reviews. Looking for a restaurant with atmosphere?…read more You won't find it here. My first warning was the decrepit sign over the door in a dilapidated strip center. But, as the saying goes, "don't judge a book by its cover." The food was good. Not great. My usual order is fajitas, this time a chicken, steak, and chicken combo. The plate was served sizzling. Served with 3 small tortillas and the usual fixin's. El Mexicano doesn't serve any beans other than refried, so, no option for black beans, pinto or borracho. The shrimp in the dish were perfect, the chicken was dried out and there were about 6 little strips of steak. The grilled onions and peppers were very good. My wife's shrimp dish was very salty. She prefers the interpretation of Shrimp Mexicana at others Mexican restaurants. And for good measure, because we asked for some lime to squeeze on the shrimp and they tacked on $2 to the bill. But what really resulted in my barely average review was the cleanliness of El Mexicano; or rather, the lack of it. You'll notice a yellow bucket that hangs on the wall in the dining room, yes, in full sight of diners. I witnessed a server drop something on the floor, grab a cloth from the bucket and clean the floor. Then, she returned the cleaning cloth to the bucket. Moments later, another server used the same cloth to clean tables! The health department would have a hissy fit if they saw this. Worse, when I mentioned this to the manager, he was indifferent. I know he understood me, he just didn't care. If the manager is so indifferent to such an obvious health hazard, I can't fathom what goes on in the kitchen. El Mexicano is a "one and done" for us.

But I felt La Lupita had slipped a bit. Initial service was excellent, we were greeted and seated promptly. Drinks were served and our order was taken. But once the food was brought to the table, our server was nowhere to be found. Refill for ice tea? Nope. We ordered one set of corn and one set of flour tortillas and got two orders of corn. It took us quite a while to find the server to get the error corrected. The complementary chips and salsa were way off. The chips were stale and they switched to a green salsa. Admittedly, a personal preference, but I liked the red better. My wife enjoyed her usual- camarones Mexicano. Served sizzling and perfectly done. I don't recall the mixed fajitas (my usual) as being so greasy. Again, served hot. Lots of peppers, onions, & grilled tomatoes. No jalapeños. I could have asked for some as a side and I'm sure they would accommodate. I also found it odd that La Lupita doesn't offer any beans other than refried. We asked for black beans or pinto or borracho. They're not offered. Yet they were able to serve refried black beans instead of the usual borracho or pinto refried version. Prices, inevitably, were up since our last visit. La Lupita is still a favorite for authentic Mexican food. We just caught them on an off day and it was still way ahead of most Mexican restaurants.
