I decided to try this place today while I was in the area. I have been wanting to come here for awhile so I rolled on it. It was not busy I looked at the menu and decided on the steak quesadilla. It was $7.99 and came with chips hot sauce and sour cream for no additional cost. The tell guys they made the food we're awesome very friendly and polite. The steak quesadilla was very tasty and flavorful as well. The hot sauce was hot and spicy too! Excellent overall experience. Definitely go give them a shot

I think it's really important to understand what type of restaurant this is- there isn't table service. You walk up to the counter and order- think of qdoba. I will now lay out why I'll choose Chilitos over qdoba any day of the week. This isn't a qdoba bashing but just a rundown of why I'll choose Chilitos over qdoba. Chilitos & Qdoba - both have good food with options based on personal preferences Qdoba- long line that runs out the door with overflowing garbage cans and very dirty drink/sauce station Chilitos - friendly people that seem invested in the success of the business, clean stations, samples offered Call me crazy but I'm willing to spend $1-2 extra dollars for a better experience.

We stopped in here after they have been open for about 2 weeks. It was not busy at all. Service was good, good was just ok. We have so many Mexican restaurants on Dixie Hwy, this one doesn't really stand out. It is counter service. The veggies do look super fresh. My mom ordered a special order adoba chicken sandwich. There was very little meat on the sandwich. Way too much bread. Flavor was ok. I ordered the steak tacos, flavor was ok but they did add plenty to make a full taco. I do like their jalapeño salsa.

We wanted something other than the chain Mexican restaurants on Dixie so we decided to check out this place. We were not disappointed!! I got the carnitas burrito bowl (healthier option), my son got the Mexicana torta, and daughter got the adobo chicken nachos. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent. We love supporting local.

Delicious food and friendly staff. I was happy to see that they offer both Coke and Pepsi products. I love Diet Coke so that was a plus.

Best Mexican food in the south end, probably the whole city. The food is authentic. I would love to see them open a bar inside.

I had been wanting to go for quite some time to try the Birria because I heard it is so amazing, and it really lived up to the Hype! Oh, did I mention they have the viral soft serve margaritas!?!?! I got the strawberry, it was so pretty, excellent presentation and absolutely delicious! I will say it was more like a dessert to me and I would have preferred to have it after my meal instead if before but that's just me. We got there between 6:30 and 7:00 and it was really busy, luckily our friends got there first and grabbed a table. They had already had a round of drinks while waiting on us but it took a while for anyone to come over to greet us or refill their drinks but again it was busy and everyone was helping everyone. We ended up splitting the birria platter and still had plenty of food to take home which we just ate last night as leftovers and were still absolutely fire!! I think the egg roll and quesadillas were my favorite over the tacos bc I love the melty cheese. I also ordered a small side of queso which was surprisingly a little spicy which I really enjoyed. They even surprised us when my BIL ordered a small margarita and it came out in a fish glass (see photo). It was so unexpected but also so cute at the same time ... it's really the little things like this that bring joy, okay? LOL This place was absolutely amazing and I can't wait to try it again.

We ordered the Trio of Guacamole and they were all fantastic. I ordered an Oaxaca Old Fashioned. The presentation was crazy. It smoked and bubbled. When we arrived we had a brief wait before we checked in, and were seated on the second level. Our server was excellent, our service was quick and he was always around without hovering. It was bitter cold outside so instead of my usual margarita ($14+) I opted for a beer ($6). We started with the salsa trio, one of my favorites with handmade assorted chips. It includes three salsas, somewhat spicy, sweet tomato and tomatillo - the spicy and sweet were my favorites. Next we ordered the tacos el carbon and carbon burrito - pricing is expensive! We both ordered our steaks medium rare. My tacos had a beautiful presentation, the meat came out on a skewer and smoking from the hot coals. All toppings were repeated on the plate. The steak was overcooked and tough though. Had a nice smoke to it, but very chewy. My husband enjoyed his burrito but wasn't the best he's ever had. They also had a mariachi band walk around but they had "tips" all over their instruments and clothes. Overall we had a nice meal but the price point doesn't equal the food quality.

We were leaving for the second leg of our trip and were running late, as usual. We decided to run across the street for a sit down lunch, what's another hour? Two smiling faces greeted us at the door. They offered a high top but my hip was absolutely not digging it nor a table up the flight of steep stairs. Once seated, we were greeted promptly and had water in front of us almost immediately. We each ordered soup and then a sandwich to share. I had the Sopa de Pollo . A hot bowl thick with thin noodles and lots of chunks of chicken. The chunks were too big to eat without being cut up which was a challenge in a bowl of broth. It was so hot that I had to wait a while to try it and even then had to blow on it. It was delicious. Unless the soup is your meal, order a cup. I still took nearly a pint of soup back with me. My husband ordered the Frijole Negro - a huge bowl of black beans that was served with a large pile of raw onions on top. Like the chicken soup, it was burn your mouth hot and a very large serving. He said it was good but he'd not order it again. Moving on to the sandwich. We had the Cubano. I'm not even going to describe it - just trust me - order the Cubano. Do not look at the rest of the menu - order the Cubano. Don't even bother looking at the ingredients, just order the Cubano. Have you ordered it yet? Do it already. The Cubano is huge. We split one half and had the other when we arrived at our next stop. Do consider that we had soup first; otherwise, we'd have eaten the whole thing. The accompanying plantain chips were worthy of their own review. They were wonderful. Who knows if and when we'll be back to Louisville but when we are, La Bodeguita will be the first place we stop. BTW, have you ordered the Cubano yet? What are you waiting for? Put your phone done and order it! Enjoy!!
