There were numerous large parties inside, but we really didn't hear them with the doors closed to the balcony we were on. I had grilled octopus tacos that were beyond amazing! Puerto Peñasco Vibes!!! What a weekend it was the hubby's birthday weekend. We were feeling spontaneous and ended up in Sonora, Mexico. This restaurant is in El Malecón which is right by the beach. There are many vendors and restaurants around the area. We wanted to rest for a bit before heading to our Airbnb and this little place was the best option. It so happened to be bike fest that weekend, therefore it was extremely difficult to find a place to go. Lucky for us this one was there and we made the right decision. This restaurant has 2 stories and we ended up going upstairs. Our server was very nice and attentive. Unfortunately, we did not eat anything from the menu but I will tell you everything that we saw looked very good. We did have chips and salsa and my HONEY and I had a few drinks instead. We were just enjoying the scenery and the beach. The restaurant was very nice and clean. Everything was well organized and it was very pleasant. I try to visit different restaurants every time I visit Rocky Point.. this place is on El Malecón (the old port). I was hoping to watch the sunset from the balcony, it did not disappoint, wow that view is awesome! I arrived and was seated right away, I ordered a strawberry margarita (mango was the other option) & looked through the menu. The margarita was decent, not worth the calories for a second one. I went with the fish, octopus & shrimp dish (completely blanked on the name!) served with veggies and rice. The plate was beautiful, the food was average. The shrimp was good in a sauce that was poured over the fish, the fish had no seasoning and was bland on its own. The octopus was not rubbery but could have been grilled to enhance the flavor to my liking. I was offered tortillas or saltine crackers and went without the extra carbs. The service was great, my waiter checked on me often. Definitely sit upstairs on the balcony if you're there around sunset. read more

We ordered the surf and turf, and there was an option to upgrade it to prime which is $485 pesos more, which he did without asking us, bringing our $895 order to $1380 pesos. Food came out in different times and all food either bland or over cooked and way over priced. When I complained about dried up over cooked fish they said nothing we can do. Figured we're in Mexico let's just leave and when we paid the guys had the audacity to ask for a tip. We tried this place while visiting the old port market place, right as the restaurant was opening. Their were tons of seating and we were lucky to be placed on the patio so with an amazing view of the ocean. Service was quick and we started the day with a few adult drinks. Drinks were huge and pretty tasty but not what I was looking for in a margarita. Food took awhile since we were a large group but tasted good and it was served hot. We were even given recomendations on how to spend our afternoon and given a great deal on jetski rentals if we were willing to drive 30 miles out of town. I enjoyed the crunchy tacos on house made blue corn tortillas, and the presidente tacos were very good though I had hoped to try the octopus instead of the shrimp which I received. The breaded shrimp basket was also quite good. The taco orders can be a bit difficult to anticipate as they are marked in grams, not number of tacos, so all of us massively over ordered. The buttered flounder tacos and the flank steak tacos were both pretty bad though, I couldn't even eat the bite of the flounder I tried. The stuffed peppers wrapped in bacon were greasy and flavorless. The ceviche was quite good and my nephew tore into his burger with abandon. The bathroom had two stalls with floor to ceiling doors but one stall had no light, the other stall had a bit of a step into it so I could see it being troublesome after a few drinks. But the restaurant is beautiful and airy, has amazing views of the ocean and tons of seating. The patio was a bit cramped for all 8 of us and we couldnt really move our chairs between the wall and the patio railing but well worth it for the view and the wonderful breeze. I would definitely suggest this place to anyone that enjoys fish and doesnt want to be crammed among other tourists. Beautiful restaurant right at the Malecon. Great view as there is an outside upper deck, but even from inside the upstairs, the view is great because of all the windows. Clean bathrooms. The hubby had the teppanyaki dish and said it was terrific. I stayed with the good ole standby of cheese quesadillas, with their terrific salsa. Will be back to check this place out again. Worst service ever. We were seated around 8:30pm tonight. We ordered drinks and we're told that the kitchen was slow and once we ordered food it would be 30-45 min. No big deal, or so we thought. 45 min later still no food. The server brought out some random shot to try and appease us. Another 30 min go by and another round of random shots is brought to our table. At this point we are told they didn't have the fish for one of the dishes, which just adds to the list of seafood items that they already didn't seem to have. We asked for the food to go because it was getting late. We didn't get our food until after 10:30. By this time it was cold, missing items, under seasoned or over seasoned depending on the item and the chicken was undercooked in two of the dishes. read more

This place is great I'm surprised by some of the ratings they have one of the best views in the fish market overlooking a courtyard area and then the water if you're worried about covid precautions these guys take all the precautions they ask you to wear a mask they take your temperature and they make you hand sanitize your hands before you enter. Don't just have the best sushi in Rocky Point at some of the best sushi I've had anywhere and I had just eaten but I wanted to try it they've been there a couple years at least that I know of and they make really good cocktails try this place for dinner you won't be disappointed. read more

The only reason they got 1 star is because you can't give them 0. The food had zero seasoning, the calamari was ridiculously over cooked and dry. The fish tacos had zero seasoning and seemed to be under cooked. The mixed drinks seemed to have forgotten the alcohol. The staff seemed to forget that they had patrons too. This is a really great location, funky modern decor that was welcoming. First challenge was no paper menus so we tried to launch the app to view the selections. Both (USA) phones didn't have service so the waitress had to let us use her phone. We sat upstairs overlooking the Malacon with a breeze which kept us both cool. The clam chowder was delicious but the salt content was very high. The selection of empanadas was impressive and the fillings were excellent. The green salsa served with the empanadas was also very good. I am used to empanadas made from pastry but these were folded tortillas. Frying this type of shell ends up with a greasy empanada. I would go back..... I hope the chowder can be less salty next time because it was delectable. read more

I had the Aguachiles not realizing it's basically cerviche. So I still enjoyed it but not my go to. We got an Octopus and Shrimp Stew carryout for later. The staff was helpful and very friendly. Ok so, there is a lot to like about this place: great sunset view, inside has a cool vibe and servers were great. Lots of TVs inside if you are looking for that and a long bar upstairs. The bar options leave a little to be desired. No Tito's and no Hendricks so if you are picky, don't plan on drinking. Also no cocktail menu so you have to be prepared with what you want (not hard I know, just saying). We only tried the sushi and it was just ok. We definitely over ordered. And it is not inexpensive ($12-$16 a roll!). And lots of sauces on them. Overall it's just a meh for me. Might go back and try other menu items maybe some time. Or not. read more

The food is delicious. BUT I've spent three hours of my life that I can't get back waiting for this food. Both times we've gone the wait was 1.5 hours for some tacos and a sushi roll. It's bizarre. It's not busy enough to take that long. If you go, put in your order and leave, then come back an hour later, get a couple of drinks and you will have your meal in 30 minutes. Also, don't forget to pay your parking meter while you wait or you will come back with a boot on your car.... To bad, because the food is tasty. Maybe they are getting it from somewhere else? Is it possible that a delivery driver has to go to Nogales or across the border to get it? It's confusing as to why it takes so long. Even if there are just a few tables it's insanely long to wait. It's also expensive for what you get. We think maybe they don't have their own kitchen. That might be why it takes them so long to tell you they don't have what you ordered. Are they using a camping stove with one burner? Is the chef stoned? It's truly strange. Why don't they train one of those waiters to help out? Where do they go? Are they going home and having dinner with their families in between taking orders? Are they going for long walks? What are they doing while peoples orders take 1.5 hours? It's not that big of a place. We were imagining they call some little old lady at her casa and tell her what to make. Then they drive 40 minutes each way to pick up the food from her. Views are beautiful! Food not so much. My son loved the steak. The coconut shrimp didn't have much shrimp in it, mainly breading with very little coconut taste. Margaritas were great. Found El Oktopus as we were seeking AC while at the Malecon in Puerto Peñasco in what was the most humid and hot day of our trip! Beyond having AC and flowing cold drinks, El Oktopus was a pleasant surprise! The customer service was wonderful and the food was delicious! We has 11 people in our party and every single person loved their food! We had the molcajete, shrimp cocktail, coconut shrimp, Rocky Shrimp, garlic rice, burgers... (that's all I remember), everything was so good! It's too bad we were so hungry, we forgot to take pictures!! Definitely going back next time we are in Pueeto Peñasco and you should too! read more

The food was raw not even cooked, never served me a drink even after asking 4 times. Waited 2 hrs and 45 mins for food that was horrible. They are over priced for subpar food. I meet a local afterwards and they said everyone knows how bad it is and it's location is the only thing that keeps them open. I just want to share my experience since it was the worst treatment I ever received from a decent looking restaurant like this. (Once again, I learned my lesson that I should never ever judge a book by its cover :).) I went to this restaurant on the last day of my stay in Puerto Peñasco, expecting to have a nice meal with all my friends I went with since it had such a high rating. However, all in all, I would give a zero star if I could. The very reason is simple and clear as followed: they did not value my and my friends' time at all and kept us waiting for over one hour with a lie that they had so many tables to serve. However, there were three tables on the second floor where my friends and I were and four down stairs. He even had balls to ask for 20 more minutes after he admitted that tables were too many to serve was a lie. Instead, he came up with a new excuse; their chef was a "mess" We didn't want to stay there any longer and so asked for bills for our drinks as we just wanted to leave the restaurant, but not to my surprise, he didn't come back for another 15minutes. We just left money that should be enough for our drinks on the table and got out of the restaurant. I am deeply disappointed in how deceitful they were with what was going on with our orders. It almost felt like they did not care about the value of our time and just kept us hanging there expecting for more orders for drinks, probably while their "messed up" chef was figuring out how to cook our orders lol Prices are unnecessarily expensive and food they serve is westernized Mexican food rather than typical Mexican food. Do not recommend this restaurant and will never go back. read more

This is hands down the best quality food in Rocky Point! They're the only people doing something different than the touristy food. Clams with chorizo is top notch and the tacos come on little blue corn tortillas they make fresh every morning. Not to mention the view is amazing with palm trees, ocean and the Malecon. Service is great and the decor is reminiscent of Tulum and a more modern Mexico. I hope they make it. People need to get out and try something new in this town because this place is legit!!! read more

I could not understand why this place wasn't PACKED when we stopped in for dinner on Wednesday night until our server told us this restaurant has only been open a short amount of time. WELL, I hope this review helps to bring in the crowds because if you are in Rocky Point and you are not eating here you are doing it wrong. The chef here is imaginative and does an amazing job using local seafood to create wonderful depths of flavor. We ate a ton of food here and we kept saying "WOW" and "THIS IS SO GOOD", for a grand total of $49 USD. My drink, the Tropical Punch cocktail, was ok but I am pretty sure the bartender was confused and made the wrong recipe for me (there was definitely Red Bull in my cocktail, but the drink I ordered was not supposed to have Red Bull...) I did ask to make sure it was correct and the server insisted it was, but for $4.50 USD I was fine finishing it. As for the aesthetic: the decor is super modern and really well done. The restaurant is clean and the AC downstairs is COLD. Upstairs there was no AC but the patio/balcony was large and had an AMAZING sunset view. I also loved people-watching while we ate. The street was lively and there was lots to see going on. Overall, I hope this place remains open and serving good food and drinks. It is obvious Rocky Point needs a modern, fresh place like this to hopefully help liven up the rest of the town and bring some economic promise to this area. We will definitely be back here again when we go back to Puerto Peñasco! read more
