This small mom and pop restaurant is a great place for dinner. The service is quick and friendly and the flavors are pretty authentic. It tastes like homemade food. Awesome little Mexican spot in central Bethlehem serving up authentic Mexican food in a small stand alone building just off the Main Street area. We popped in on a Sunday and ordered a bunch of different tacos and chips and guacamole. Everything was flavorful with the tacos stealing the show. They did a lot of take out while we were there but the service was great, attentive, and helpful! Great little spot that people across the valley should definitely check out. read more

The guac is tasty but is not what you expect with tomatoes, cilantro etc. the rice and beans were disappointing. The burrito barely had any meat on it. Looks like is in a house from the outside. Walk inside and it is pretty small. It was very hot in there. Menu is pretty extensive. Got chips and guacamole and al pastor tacos. Friendly and helpful staff, fast service, amazing food, everything I've ever had there has been delicious. They have off street parking, which in the area is a huge plus. I tell people about this spot all the time and I don't even get here enough. No frills, small dining area, minimal decor, more of a take out spot, but if you do dine in they are very attentive with service, offering multiple sauces with your meal. Doesn't look like much when you walk by but the food in El Paisano was terrific! The resturant gives you a very homey feel because it is quaint with only a few tables. My boyfriend and I stopped in one day because our other favorite Mexican resturant was closed. We started off with chips and guacamole. The guacamole was fantastic! One of my favorite things at El Paisano. It looked questionable at first because it is more watery looking but it was delicious!! Packed with flavors of lime, cilantro and onion; very fresh. You also are served complementary chips and salsa with three choices of squeezable salsas as well! The mild was definitely my favorite but I'm not much of a spice fanatic! For our entrees I ordered a chicken burrito and my boyfriend ordered three chicken tacos. The tacos had cilantro, onion and lime. My chicken burrito had rice, beans, tomato, lettuce, melted cheese, chicken and sour cream. It was served like a wrap and it was very easy to eat which was a nice feature. (Some burritos are very challenging to eat as some of us may know!) Overall, we really enjoyed El Paisano! It was very authentic Mexican food, great service and fast service! Food is authentic Mexican. We've ordered takeout for 2 and 12 and it's always perfect. love the tamales, the tacos al pastor, and the chile rellenos the very most. Also enjoy the guac, the mole, and the chicken verde enchiladas. The place is small with limited seating, In last year, the clientele has grown to be more diverse, making wait times a bit longer but so worth the wait. There is off street parking that's limited but street parking is almost always available. During extreme weather temps, the dining area can be uncomfortably warm (in summer) or cold (in winter). read more

Was expecting great things based on the reviews , but nah! Chiliquiles was unique . Never had it served in broth . Not a fan of soggy chips . They were not very friendly , and didn't really seem to want us there . Perhaps the ambiance is better in the evening ? Also , not their fault but not a fan of thick chips. read more

I just had the mole enchiladas and their mole sauce was soooooo freaking good!!! Deep flavor and a little spicy, spot on perfect! The portion size was great as well. I also got some chips and salsa and the salsa was fresh and tasted bright, so good! I topped that off with some flan, ok nap time for me! The food here was awesome!! read more

I stopped there with my son this evening after I drove him back to school. It looks like a typical hole in the wall but never judge a book by its cover. The first thing that came to my attention were the Hispanic patrons. Then, looking at he menu were items like dark chocolate sauce. Aztec herb, cactus. Obviously not your average Gringo Mexican stop alla El Rodeo. The food was fabulous and the service super friendly. Worthwhile stopping there again if it ever takes me to Bethlehem. Even though I have to say, Jesus's birth place if Beit Lechem (House of Bread, a.k.a. Bethlehem is a far cry from the fancied up Bethlehem PA. Just saying! read more

Could have been good, but had an off flavor. Taste like refrigerator I think.? However, everything else was appropriately generous and delicious. The chicken enchiladas verdes was delicious, with just a whisper of sweetness to balance out the tartness of the tomatillos. Perfectly balanced. Rice and beans are good. Each grain of rice was separate (not clumped) and fluffy. All the usual Mexican drinks (Jarritos), including house made Hirchata, Agua de Jamaica (my fave), and Agua de Tamarindo. Food is perfectly seasoned! It's rare to find a kitchen that actually knows how to salt their food. Highly recommend if your looking for very casual Mexican fare. read more

Absolutely delicious! And terrific service. I really enjoyed the "salsa" served with the tortilla chips - more like "pico de gallo (spelling?). My friend ordered the chicken burrito. I had the chicken quesadilla. The servings were large. We both left with take-home boxes. Our meals, including two coca-colas, one guava juice and large guacamole was just about $25. Basic taco was ok, but burrito sour, mostly refried beans, tiny pieces of carne asada. Enchilada verde was sweet, I'd asked if guacamole was fresh, told yes, but it was sour, tasted like grocery store kind, and chips stale :( This Angeleno will keep looking for good authentic Mexican food in the area. read more

My friend and I are currently on a hunt for the best tacos in the Lehigh Valley. With that being said, I had tacos the night I was there. Pros: There's good off street parking. They offer a thorough selection of meats (lengua y cabeza) which doesn't seem to happen all that often. There's also canned coke (my favorite). Cons: The chicken meat was very dry and tasted as if it had been sitting for a while. The seasonings where flavorful but it didn't feel fresh. In addition to our tacos we had in the shop, we ordered some to go, and the cow head was so greasy that it was inedible by the time we got home. The shells themselves were a little soggy to begin with and the meat was too heavy for them, so there was a lot of breakthrough. (yeah, this stuff matters to me - I'm a taco connoisseur!! ) The atmosphere was decent, but there wasn't any music playing that would help disperse the conversations happening. They had a children's movie on (quietly) and for a while it was just my friend and I alone being loud. Another group came in and for whatever reason they sat as close as possible and it was very awkward. Since there wasn't any music we ended up with hate vibes coming our way because they were clearly uncomfortable. We were there first (?) and there were other tables (?) when they sat down, so that's on them. BUT it would have been nice if there was something happening in the front of the shop so it hadn't been *quite* so uncomfortable. Clearly other people love this place and I'm hoping it was just not the best night for El Paisano. Good luck guys! read more

Good service. They serve the food with 3 types of homemade hot sauces/salsas. The green jalapeno was definitely our favorite. Small establishment so sometimes hard to get a table. Prices are good. We ordered the beef burrito, enchilada verde and mole chicken. My wife said her burrito was the blandest burrito she has ever had. My enchilada was good. It came with a generous portion of beans and yellow rice. My daughter really enjoyed her mole chicken. The mole was rich in chocolate/spiced flavor and she thought it was a hit.
