I had lunch on 6/16/25 for the first time at this restaurant. I had the Volcanito, A flour tortilla with grilled steak. Smothered in cheese dip. Served with rice and beans. The portion was sizeable for a lunch menu and the food was delicious. I had the lunch margarita, which was a perfect size for lunch. The prices are reasonable and their lunch portions are sizeable and tasty. They serve white sauce along with their red sauce and chips which was a nice addition. El Ranchero's Mexican Restaurant is one of the best Mexican restaurants I've come to enjoy after several visits. I had a wonderful time eating at El Ranchero's Mexican Restaurant. We got guacamole with our chips, and while it wasn't prepared at the table, it was very delicious, as were the salsa and the ranch dip. I love queso, and that needed to be brought out, too. I got the super chorizo nachos, and the ingredients were well distributed down to the bottom chip. Nachos are hard to get right, and they did them right. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Food came out pretty quickly, too. Drinks are Pepsi products. I prefer Sierra Mist, but I also believe in eating and drinking locally, and since Pepsi was born in NC, I guess can't complain about it too much -- but knowing the brand they serve is good to know in advance. I will definitely be back to try more things on their menu. read more

If you are from California, and are looking for Mexican food that reminds you of home, this isn't it, but their "California Burrito" was pretty tasty. They really should give it a different name because it is *nothing* like a real California burrito. Since moving to North Carolina, our experience with California burritos out here has been disappointing. My wife has given up because every one we've had uses the thick fries and we like the thin fries in our Californias, so now she just orders a carne asada burrito. Here's how my conversation went upon entering El Ranchero: Me: "Do you have California burritos?" Her: "Yes" Me: "Great, I will have one California and one carne asada burrito." Her: "We don't have carne asada." Me [unfazed]: "Ok, just give me two Californias, one no french fries [I really don't know what I was thinking here because the two main ingredients in a Cali burrito are carne asada and french fries and she just told me they don't have one of the two main ingredients]." Her: "What?" Me [now fazed]: "You don't put french fries in your California burritos?" Her: "No, this is what is in our California burritos," and hands me a menu. It was late, my wife was hangry, so I ordered one without really looking at the ingredients. I was still in shock that they had something called a California burrito without carne asada or french fries (FALSE ADVERTISING, HELLO!) So I get home and I break the news that they didn't have carne asada, but I got her a steak burrito (I didn't even want to tell her about the whole California burrito naming debacle) and she goes, "I knew it! I should have told you don't get me anything if they don't have carne asada." She said some other things I shall not repeat here for the sake of any children reading. Long story short, it was actually a WET burrito with some cheese sauce on top and was much better than we expected. I only give one or five stars so they got the five, but we probably won't be back. The food here is always delicious and reasonably priced! I love that they have tamales as well. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed.

I'm in town visiting my family, so we decided to come to this place on my last night. Oh my goodness!!!!! The place is very pretty, nice seating areas. The service is excellent. The waitress was very down to earth and felt more like a friend talking to us rather than a server which I liked very much. Finally the food......AMAZING, DELICIOUS, FINGER LICKING GOOD...I cannot describe it. The margaritas where so good too. I ordered the Chicken rolls and cheese dip appetizers they were delicious. Then the entrees came....I got the Fajita steak combo. And let me tell you its was the best thing I've ever had in any restaurant. Maybe in my entire life. The portion size was very generous it's worth every penny. I'd definitely recommend it and will totally come back on my next visit. read more

Love this place. Their potions are huge and have so much variety to choose from. The location is also great!

Was told there was a 35 minute wait and they would text me, they read my number back wrong twice and I corrected them both times with the correct number. After 50 minutes of waiting with no text, went back inside and was told I missed my call and would have to be added back to the bottom of the wait list. I was recommended this place by my mother and I have now since been back three times. The first time I went I got the chori Pollo it was amazing and I also got tamales tamales word the best. The next two times I also got tamales because I just absolutely fell in love with him and then I got the taquitos mexicanos and holy crap those were amazing I would recommend this place to anyone. Very delicious! We typically go here for lunch so it's not as busy. The restaurant gives you complimentary salsa, chips, and "white sauce". Our favorite is the white sauce because you can add to anything on the menu especially fajitas! I would recommend this restaurant! read more

My wife and I have had nothing but wonderful service and food from here. The staff is friendly and consistent. We have started visiting about twice a month now because we have a good experience each time (and my wife is addicted to the white dip). The chips, salsa and dip are complimentary as expected. The menu prices are very reasonable, very competitive for the area. They ask send out coupons often which makes it much less than anywhere around. read more

The margaritas and daiquiris are AWFUL! I think the manager makes them...no fruit flavor at all...the past couple of times I've gone they've been bad, now I won't buy them at all in fear that I'll be wasting another $8. They do not have any drink specials at all on Friday nights. I went with a friend to Fajitas every Friday night because the prices were great and margaritas were amazing...now we just go here every now and then because the location is convenient for the both of us. I will say the salsa is good as well as the white dip. Service could also use some improvement. Had a friend come from out of town and we ate here, we were sat down and for at least 20 minutes no one came to our table to even get our drink orders. We had to ask the hostess to find someone or we were leaving. Several servers walked past us multiple times and wouldn't even make eye contact with us. read more
