This place is really great for a nice bite to eat and a flavorful, tasty drink. This is my third visit here and I absolutely love the atmosphere, the food and the vibes. I had the kitchen sink veggie bowl, my favorite drinks are pineapple express and Californication, it's the perfect twist on a margarita with a little spice and fruity infusion of flavors. Side bar is a lovely little bar and restaurant in Uptown. Their drinks and dishes were all Latin inspired. While everything we tried was very delicious, they were also not at all what we expected when looking at the menu. I recommend coming to side bar if you would like to be pleasantly surprised and try new dishes and combinations. It's the perfect place for evening drinks and food with friends. I must also comment that we adored the glassware our drinks came in and inside is lovely. The large bar with open shelves and plants is definitely the focal point. A cool spot to grab some fresh Mexican food and drinks with friends! The food is always fresh and the servers are very helpful. We recently tried the loaded queso and it was delicious. Their chips are my favorite of any place in Greenville! They also have a great variety of margaritas and specialty drinks. Highly recommend the blueberry margarita! I tried the Baja fish tacos our last visit and they were just okay. Also, the sides are all al a carte and not included in the meal price. Overall, this place is a little pricey compared to others around town but the food is fresh and it's a cool spot in uptown (downtown?) Greenville! read more

This is a fantastic spot and we've been coming here lately for brunch. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Their servers are friendly and knowledgeable about what they are serving. The chicken tinga nachos are so good w/ home made chips. The smokehouse cowboy tacos are only on their brunch menu and I loved them. I believe my new favorite is their Fajita Steak tacos. Went here for graduation party. The pictures made me think I wouldn't like anything but I did! I shared scallop tacos and mahi tacos . I felt the mahi had zero flavor although wasn't bad food. The scallop tacos are the baby scallops and had a spicy sauce. They would be better with large scallops imo. Other people had the Korean tacos and brisket tacos and said they were good. The crab corn dip appetizer was really good and chips and sauces good as well. My friend had the empanadas and i took a bite and really liked them, my mom had cauliflower appetizers and was yummy with broccoli and green beans as well. As a native Texan, it has been challenging to find decent tex mex in NC. Side Bar does a great job with incredible tacos and great elevated tex mex dishes. Their cocktails are my favorite in Greenville. I've never had a bad meal here. read more

Side Bar is a new spot next to Dickinson Avenue Public House by the same owners. The menu is high end Tex-Mex and they have a great cocktail menu. Just a handful of menu items, but it's plenty to choose from. I expect they'll rotate items on and off like DAP House. My coworker and I had a few different cocktails, got the shredded beef queso and chips to split, and we each ordered the brisket birria ramen because it sounded so interesting. The cocktails were delicious. They're on the pricy end, but the attention to detail made them worth it. Smoky, sweet, and creative. The beef queso and chips were delicious. The chips are fried tortillas, plenty sturdy for dipping. We ate every bite. But the real kicker was the brisket birria ramen. It's an Asian Mexican fusion dish. So much flavor, incredibly rich. Tons of different elements come together to create something truly unique. If I tried to capture all the flavors in this review, I'd be here all night. It's comfort food...hearty, filling, salty, rich, and delicious. Just try it. The restaurant looks so good. They did a great job with the space. The outdoor patio looks fun...we'll sit out there when it's warmer (though they do have space heaters). The service was fantastic. We sat at the bar and never had to wait for anything. The food came super fast too. Kudos to the kitchen...delicious and fast. And they were packed on a Tuesday night. You might want to make a reservation. Side Dish is priced similarly to DAP House. I had the Pineapple Express which was refreshing and a few people I was with had the spicy margarita which they said was delicious and strong. We started with the gangsta queso and it was delicious. The chips were so yummy. We also tried the Mexican street riblets. My friend and I shared the shrimp and cauliflower tacos which were amazing. The shrimp tacos had a nice bite and they were so flavorful. My friends had the carne asada and the Mahi tacos and they said they were flavorful and would order again. The food is exceptional. I've yet to eat at a restaurant locally where everything was perfect. Greenville is full of mediocre dining experiences but Sidebar is one word - phenomenal. We started with the loaded Queso - it was delicious. Don't normally get cheese and chips but our party was decent sized and it was plenty for 4. It was spicy but not too much, the pickled onions herbs and avocado comes in a small scoop in the middle of the queso and you can scoop the guac and cheese in a masterful yet simple blend of tastes. For my entree I ordered the Colorado Pork Chilis Verdes Enchilada - it was a generous amount of food and the taste was also exceptional. My dinner party got the Korean Friend Chicken Tacos and the Sweet Thai Chili Tacos, also, exceptional. It should also come to no surprise that their cocktails are also uniquely themed and taste unlike anything I've had before... the Oaxacan Old Fashioned was a superb blend of flavors with a spicy and sweet mix that was excellent, as I'm not a fan of overly sweet cocktails to begin with I have a feeling the non whiskey based ones will be excellent as well. I will be trying the others as I return. Make Sidebar a destination you have to visit. You will not be dissatisfied unless you're just the type to go out and look for every small imperfections in your dining experience... if you are I would find it incredibly hard to find anything negative. Shoutout to the Service staff and cooks, after all we wouldn't have an amazing experience without them as well. You will not get a better dining experience anywhere else. Check them out! read more
