I'd rate El Paraiso four and a half stars. I had an arepa con todo. As expected, there is a lot going on. Shredded chicken. Pulled short rib. Heaping of cheese. Garlic mayo sauce. Sides of pineapple salsa and chipotle mayo. No shortage of flavor or variety. Service was quick. There was one restroom which was single occupancy. Very casual. Full bar. read more

I've ordered several times over the past 2 years! Each visit has been excellent every thing I ordered was correct and on point. I was starving and on the phone (car Bluetooth;-)) with a friend who was telling me about newer places in Holyoke. I happened to be around the corner! Freshly made Columbian food, why not give it a try. I perused the menu, there are some things like rellenos I have had before. Everything is freahly made including the milk drinks. I chose the days special. It came with rice, meat and plantains. It was good (I did takeout). The atmosphere is calming, intimate, and yet has a vibrant vibe. They have a full bar and on the weekends offer a late night menu and entertainment. They also are on various food delivery apps. But, I'd say to come in and experience the atmosphere. read more

Great new addition to downtown Holyoke. My wife is Colombian so as soon as we passes this spot we had to try. It's a small family run business and the service was great and it was very clean. The flavors are those of the Cali region and packed with flavor. Everything is cooked fresh and you can tell. Highly recommend trying to experience authentic Colombian cuisine. read more

Great little restaurant in Holyoke. Waiter was very nice , Owner swing by a couple times to make sure everything was good. Food was tasty and very generous portions. The kids really enjoyed the Arepas ! Drinks were decent as well :-) The place is definitely authentic , which is not always the case with Latin American restaurants. We came across this spot after my husband brought home one of their potato balls from work. Let me tell you all - this papas rellenas (potato ball) was delicious and still fresh, and it was cold! All I could think of is how delicious it must be when it's freshly made. So we made our way to Holyoke to try a few more items from the menu. We had the potato balls of course, and they DID NOT disappoint. They have an option of two sauces, you should try both! We also tried the arepas con queso, the patacones con pollo and the pollo en salsa paraiso for an entree. We also tried the apple flavored soda and the passion fruit juice with milk. We were full and satisfied with every bite. I was so stuffed I couldn't even finish my appetizers! Lastly, I love that it's a family business. Our waitress Jessica was very sweet and patient with going through the menu out. The music was good, smiles all around the place, and an atmosphere that is just welcoming. I love this new Columbia Restaurant. I always get my favorite Bandeja Paisa. A delightful mixture of different foods... But don't forget to request , " Aji" an absolutely extraordinary delicious condiment- that adds what we call in Spanish, " sabor" or flavor to the Bandeja Paisa. A small, clean hole-in-the-wall type of place with delicious food. We had the Bistec Creole and the fried whole tilapia. The steak was really good and the fish would have been amazing if they pulled it out of the frier a minute earlier. The empanada was an appetizer. Both meals came with rice and a small salad. The fish came with beans and a tostada. I went for the sweet plantains with the steak. Very homey. A wonderfully sweet waitress. Two Latin families and another Anglo couple were there while we were. Cool music. Not the fanciest place in town but it's where we'll good next time we want some Latin food. read more

Let's start with fish and chips. The fried scrod was flaky, delicate, and moist, perfectly cooked. The crinkle cut fries were very good. The cole slaw had a nice crunch and not overly done up with celery salt. It was a dry slaw. The JP minis were at trio of juicy sliders with mayo, mustard, and a pickle slice. Very juice two bite burgers. Struck the perfect balance of meat to bread. The onion rings were a bit over fried, had a satisfying crunch, but some were missing the onion. For dessert we split a chocolate chip lava cake. While it was good, it was a little too much sweet on sweet on sweet. The food and service was above average. Definitely will stop by again. Two thing really were turn offs. I mentioned the amount of cigarette smoke from patrons smoking right near the bar door. Next time I will park in the south side and use that restaurant entrance. Second and perhaps the most annoying is that they charge a fee to use a credit card. No where in their menu or any other signage was this additional fee disclosed other than at the bottom of the bill. If my math is correct it is about 4%. So in summary good food and service, avoid the bar side, and be aware they charge extra to pay by credit card.

In fact, it may be the most flavorful shrimp dish I've had since moving to Western MA 3 years ago. There's one more reason to go: Carlos the chef/owner. He's incredibly frriendly and charming and loves talking about food. They were wrapping up for the day when we were there (they close at 7 and we showed up around 6:30) and he made us feel so welcome. WHile the staff were getting ready for the next day, he came and chatted with us. This guy loves food and he loves making customers happy. How can you not love a place like that?
