    Clam chowder
    Holly E.

Chose JPs because it was close to our hotel and had a nice variety on the menu. Has 2 rooms, the bar area and dining room. Sat in dining room as it was a bit quieter. Server was attentive and food was good. I'd say step above diner fare, and I love diners! We both ordered the clam chowder, husband had the Ruben and I ordered the pot roast sandwich. Order came quickly and just how we requested. No mayo for me and light on the dressing for the Ruben. Both sandwiches were delicious. With tip cost was $50 for 2 sandwiches, 2 soups, beer and an iced tea.

Caesar salad with Cajun grilled shrimp (I chopped up the shrimp prior to eating) DELISH! To-go!

Great find the food and service was good and the prices were great we were pleasantly surprised when we got the bill because the menu didn't have prices. Literally cheaper than fast food restaurants. The wings were great not frozen style and the pot roast sandwich was great too.

Heard good things about this place. Came in after a day of skiing to check it out. Sat down at the bar and the first thing I noticed was the ski sign hanging on the wall, LOVE IT! Bar was busy for lunch the day after Christmas so it took the bartender a few to come over. She took my drink order and grabbed me a menu and the next time she walked past I put in my order, cup of chowder and the pot roast sandwich. She kicked butt though, reminds me of my mom, running around tending to everyone. My first impression was understaffed but she handled everyone including the Keno players. Management needs to give her a raise. Couldn't have waited more than 5 minutes after my chowder came out and my meal was here. Chowder was good. Pot roast was tender. Perfect fill me up combo after a day of skiing. The lady sitting next to me had a cheese and pepperoni pizza which looked equally delicious. I will be back to give that a try. Grabbed a carrot cake for dessert, it was ok. Not the Maggie McFlys carrot cake I have learned to love. I could tell it was not fresh but was refrigerated so made eating the frosting that much better. I also liked the placemat, added a nice holiday touch!

We came here yesterday for the beginning of the game. Bartenders were great. The Irish nachos were to die for. Drinks were good. We will definitely be going back. Nice atmosphere. Plenty of TVs.

Chicken Marsala was great. A little loud, but enjoyable to hear other conversations, mostly local folks. Service was great!!!!

No reservations, so get there early! An automatic bonus star for original craft cocktails and dinner specials. I abhor restaurants that rely on staple meal choices, forgetting that people need variety from the ho hum they make at home ( or can make at home- like Wood and Tap. Boo.). I love a place like this where you can look at the menu and see at least two or three things that make you think "WOW, what will I choose?". The restaurant is very bright with many high top tables. It would have felt conspicuously weird to take photos in the full-capacity situation we were in. There's also a gentleman playing acoustic guitar and singing Christmas music. Nicely done, with a professional voice and playing style. I would say, the only downside was that there didn't seem to be a consistency of how people were waiting on tables, so simple things like a set of silverware missed at our table, and then somebody brought a set and didn't bring napkins. Then one of us received the completely wrong meal and we had a delay in getting it corrected while we were already on a tight schedule with the other flubs to make the show on time. It was scattered issues like that all night that kept this from being a five star experience. It

Their baby back ribs were delicious and would rival any local barbecue. Our waitress was very patient with our many questions about the menu and was a pleasure to meet. They have live music that added to one more reason that we will make this a regular stop.

HOWEVER...I've been to Gigantic at least three times now and I have to admit that going out of your way is worth it. The drink list is not huge, but it's never boring, changes often enough to keep me interested, and I don't recall getting anything less than excellent. If they're willing to do a "bartender's choice" type thing (I haven't tried), I might have to go even more often. To address some of the things that others mentioned: Yes, it's small, but lots of good places are. Yes, the drinks take awhile, but I don't know of ANY high-end cocktail place that can cranks them out. Get over it and enjoy your time there. I've never experienced rude or pretentious (anymore than that are always is) service, but that would annoy me. The server/bartender has always been quite nice to my friends and me. I also checked out their list of vintage liquors last time I was there. I didn't try any (because money) but the fact that they have them at all is impressive.

What we did like was the old school music, vintage feel that took on the vibes of an antique shop (it was fun to look around), and the intimate setting. The cocktails were really good and creative with a menu that updates frequently and featured some classics as well. The cocktails were a bit pricey for what you got and for the area, the snack options were very limited and overpriced, and service was very slow despite few people being in the bar. We had to ask to be served and waited over 15 minutes for the check. We are glad we checked out Gigantic and would not recommend going out of your way for it as there are other great cocktail bars in neighboring towns.
