Had a wonderful dinner out with my daughter and her fiancé we started with the crispy duck salads which were incredible the ginger dressing was delicious and the duck was very crispy and flavourful. I ordered for my entree the seafood ramen it was amazing full of incredible fresh seafood huge sea scallops, shrimp and crab sticks. The broth was very flavourful with a nice kick to it! I couldn't finish it because it was so big so had it the next day as a leftover and it was just as good. My daughter's fiancé got the chicken potato curry which i tried and it was delicious as well. He loved it. We also got the spamoni for dessert and it was amazing and huge. My daughter got the fried squid which was very tender. DO NOT COME HERE! i had gone here because i heard good things about this place. we had ordered the food pictured. i am so beyond disappointed. they only get 2 stars because of our waitress. nothing was wrong with the server, i appreciate all she did for us, the food being terrible isn't on her. i would recommend to stay far far away from here. although it looks nice, we sat down and they brought us water. i drank my water. after the first sip i noticed someone else's lipstick on the glass of water, i had no lipstick, lip gloss or lip balm on. i was repulsed and honestly wanted to leave immediately after seeing that. so this lets you know that their glass ware and silverware isn't being totally washed, so what if someone was sick and then you ate right after them? then what?! the soup dumplings were not good at all. the lo mein was just alright, the lamb tasted gamey and over cooked. the sesame chicken was stringy and over cooked. do not come here. opening celebration, should be seeing a closing celebrating very soon. Based on all of the positive reviews here, I'm shocked that my visit doesn't compare to any of these. Maybe I just chose a menu item that they don't execute well or maybe it was an "off day", but this might be the 2nd time in my whole life, where I took two bites of my entree and left the rest untouched. I didn't even ask for a refund (though they deducted 10% or something) and I did not ask for another item, because I was so turned off. My meal was prepared with the seasonings of a nursing home. The broccoli was totally naked & steamed and while I prefer some "crunch" in it, this was practically RAW and it void of ANY seasoning, whatsoever. My General Tso Chicken was like biting into rockhard, tasteless, gooey chunks of nothing. No flavor, no spice. When I was asked about my meal, my server tried to gaslight me by saying something like: "well did you eat soup or something before you came here, because maybe that would make it taste different" . That might be the first time, in all of my dining-out experience, that someone tried to put their chef's/cooks inadequacies, on ME. OMG.. hilarious. It was like a "bit" from the show: "Curb Your Enthusiasm". We personally will not return, but try for yourselves. Hopefully you'll have a better experience. Positives: the atmosphere is quite nice. Cozy and clean. Staff is friendly. Our appetizer of beef satay was excellent and they actually make a really good classic margarita. I know the location of this spot is likely why it wasn't busier it's tucked behind the old 99 at the mall and I know people frequently don't go down the corridor where the restaurants located . Husband and I were roadtripping from the Chicago area to Boston and stopped in Holyoke for the night. We were ready for a real meal and liked what we saw on the menu at Monsoon Bistro. Yes, it's inside a mall that was walking distance from our hotel, although the walk was along a busy road. But after a day that covered 500 miles, getting back in the car had no appeal. The restaurant's atmosphere was much classier than the T-shirt and shorts I was wearing. (See "road trip" above.) But that didn't seem to matter to the management. TBH, we ordered just two items -- no drinks, no apps. My husband ordered the garlic chicken with black mushrooms. I ordered the chicken pad Thai. Don't judge me. My fave neighborhood Thai restaurant went out of business years ago, and my quest for good pad Thai proved endless and pointless. I gave up. Until tonight. The pad Thai was terrific --flavorful and perfectly cooked. All it needed was a spritz from the accompanying fresh lime wedge. My husband's garlic chicken delivered the perfect level of heat. (Only a few beads of sweat on his forehead!) Our server, Bar Man Josh, was all smiles and engaging. Our dishes were delivered with a bit of a flourish by two chefs (I think), who were gracious and -- like Bar Man Josh -- all smiles. My husband and I had a date night in this cozy and elegant restaurant. I was blown away by the food, the waitress and the service. The food and drinks were fresh and very tasty. We started with chicken lettuce wrap for appetizer and the entree. My husband had the half duck it was very flavorful and the skin perfectly crispy. I chose Thai fried whole fish with mango and it was perfect. We ended the meal with the perfect dessert sticky rice and fresh sliced mango. We are going back for sure! It's been a while since we ordered from Monsoon Bistro, I just forgot to post my review. TBH, we threw our food out. It wasn't that it was the worst take-away ever. But it *was* cold, bland, and overpriced. We ate enough not to be hungry but threw the leftovers away. After spending that much money, tossing a second day's meal for two was pretty painful. Maybe eating in-house would have been better. ‍ I'd be willing to give it another try, in case it was just an off day, but We can't afford the risk. The restaurant looks lovely, parking was easy, staff was friendly, and location is easy to get to. But the food...I just don't know. I really *want* to like this place. I surprised my wife Friday night for an impromptu date night. We were looking for someplace we have not been before. Being big fans of Asian cuisine and after reading prior reviews of Monsoon Bistro we decided to give it a try. Wow what a gem of place. It is in the Holyoke Mall, upper level near Macy's. We were greeted by I would assume the manager and promptly seated. Not having dined here before, we asked Ann (our server) for some recommendations. The menu was diverse and had mouth watering Chinese, Thai, and Malaysian entrees. We ordered a variety of appetizers as well as splitting an entree Satay Beef, Fried Golden Squid, Dim Sum (steamed pork dumplings), and their Malaysian Grilled Pork Chop. I also enjoyed a Thai Iced Tea. The appetizers were brought out in due course. First was the squid. This was not your typical calamari. The squid pieces were in light, seasoned tempura batter, served with flash fried green bell peppers, carrots, and onions. It had a side of a sweet/spicy dipping sauce. I normally don't eat much squid. My wife and I found Monsoon Bistro's squid to be amongst the best we have had. The four skewers of Satay Beef were super tender and savory. The Satay dipping sauce could be bottled and sold as its it was so good. The dim sum was really good. It was served in a bamboo steamer. The pork chop was served prep chopped making it perfect for sharing. It was fantastic. Seasoned with honey and Malaysian spice blend, the pork was perfectly cooked and super tender. One word of caution, it is a bone-in chop so there are bits of bone that need to be eaten around. For dessert Ann recommended the Thai Sticky Rice and Mangoes. OMG what an excellent and surprising delight. The dessert had a roll of sweetened sticky rice and a row of sliced fresh mango, with a sweet creamy drizzle, garnished with black sesame seeds. It was palette cleansing, perfect finish to an incredible meal. Ann was truly exemplary of great customer service. The cost of dinner was very reasonable for the quality of the food and the service. Highly recommend and looking forward to our next visit. read more

We recently moved from LA with a ton of excellent Asian food options, so I am so happy to have found this gem in Holyoke! I was hesitant since it's in a mall, but I couldn't be more wrong! We started with the pork soup dumplings, the flavor was delicious! I will say that the wrappers are a little thick, but still overall really good. I ordered the spicy garlic sauce chicken, and the drunken noodles. My fiancée ordered the Thai green curry. I see good reviews for this place, but our experience there was far from pleasing. It's nice enough inside, but the food and service doesn't warrant a return visit. The menu includes dishes from across Asia, but perhaps sticking with one cuisine would produce more consistent and authentic food. All of the dishes our group of four ordered arrived barely heated through and lacking the lovely fresh quality that you expect from good Asian cooking. It's reminds me of the common wedding dish served in Chinese banquet. All the dishes are wonderfully plated. For dessert we had mango sticky rice, which unusual to find around here. Love it!! We went to this restaurant on September 6th. We were greeted in the most friendly manner by ANN, who is either an owner or a manager and our server , unfortunately I don't remember her name. We ordered drinks appetizers and dinners. We received our drinks and within 5 minutes we got called home for an emergency. Ann and the staff were so wonderful packing all our food up and getting us out of there very quickly. We dealt with the emergency when we got home and everything was fine. Then we opened the food wow it was fabulous, I had the Shanghai my fun which was wonderful we had steamed dumplings and we had vegetable spring rolls and general tso's chicken,. All of which we're still warm and very delicious. They even packed up our drinks for us. I wish we could have stayed and had dinner there because the atmosphere was completely wonderful. The staff is super friendly and very helpful with menu suggestions. Thought this place looked interesting as it served many different types of Asian food, When we walked in the place was dead. As soon as we were seated they brought over waters and wonton crisps with sweet sauce to munch on. Our server, Josh was phenomenal. We asked for his opinions on certain plates and he was spot on. I absolutely love this place. Have been to lunch and dinner. Great experience both times. I had Drunken Noodles with chicken for lunch. Yum. Went for dinner the next week. I went with three other people. We had Chicken Satay and Pork Soup Dumplings for appetizers. Both were excellent. Ann, the supervisor, came by the table to explain how to eat the dumplings. I am so glad she did because I would have eaten them like a heathen. The only two dinners I can remember are Mongolian Beef (tender and tasty) and Crispy Thai Chicken which I had. It was prepared differently than I am used to. It was a whole breast that was fried and sliced. Even with the delicious sauce it was crispy...even as leftovers the next day. Very impressive. When you spend $50 you get a complimentary order of sesame chicken. It was the best I have ever had. Hands down. Could not fit dessert in. Maybe next time. Went with colleagues from work for lunch. The service was great. I ordered hot and sour soup and General TSO chicken. The soup was average at best, and the General TSO's chicken was chicken tossed in sweet and sour sauce, with peppers added. It was most assuredly NOT General TSO sauce. The order was taken correctly according to the check. Won't be going back since the cook does not know the difference between sweet and sour vs General TSO. read more
