Took the kids here for for dinner on a Saturday night. Despite their faces, these kids cleared their plates, after eating two bowls of chips with bean dip. We ordered a kid's beef, hardshell, taco, bean and cheese burrito, and chicken enchiladas Verde. The food was delicious, the service is always attentive and friendly. I came in around 9pm on Cinco de Mayo. Got a bad vibe from the dude (manager?) at the door, seemed annoyed I was there. I was seated and immediately served chips, bean dip, and pico. The chips tasted off. The bean dip was flavorless.The pico tasted like water with tomato in it. I got a chili verde taco /and cheese enchilada combo. The beans and rice in the combo needed flavor. The chili verde taco was wayyyy too salty. The enchilada was the best part of the meal and that's not saying much. None of it had a hint of spice. Other than the dud at the door the rest of the staff was great. I don't understand why this place is so popular. Maybe a off day or the meal I ordered. I won't return here, there are much better Mexican restaurants around. read more

In short A-OK family-style Mexican spot with Americanized food and a solid bar program. In long This is technically an Everett address, but not to be confused with the downtown Everett spot that has a huge tequila list and gets packed before Tips games (many reviews mix up these two). This is a big friendly clean and bright rabbit warren of dining room after dining room, wrapped around side stations, bar seating, and so on. They definitely welcome the sports bar crowd, with flat screens in many of the rooms. It's a long menu of familiar dishes with some traditional touches and some American touches. Big fat burritos, enchiladas, carne plates, and so on. Decent selection of margaritas with a few more-premium tequilas knocking around. We came in for a friend's birthday on a bright sunny spring day. They pushed 4 tables together for us, but the weather left the rest of the place so slow that they never missed the seating. We had 3 servers off and on throughout the meal. Always friendly, always nice, with quick answers to every question. Food was solid enough, though very mildly seasoned. They did bring out a dish of hotter salsa with a bunch of freshly-chopped habaneros in there; that lit things up a bit. We had to ask over and over for hot sauces, bean dip, and other odds and ends. They did keep working at it and did not give up on us, but the turnaround on pretty much everything seemed at least 5-10 minutes longer than it needed to be on a busy day, and a couple things never showed up at all. And it was not a busy day. In the end the two of us (within the group) were out the door for 2 cocktails, a cup of coffee, and 2 entrees for $106. The waitstaff was very congenial. I ordered the large enchilada plate (three enchiladas, refried beans, rice, and some coleslaw). It was insultingly obvious the "three" enchiladas were actually 1.5 enchiladas! They were comically short because they were CUT IN HALF. On each enchilada, one end was rounded, the other was cut. When you roll a tortilla, both ends are rounded - unless you cut it in half. The filling was chicken - no cheese or sauce or anything. I could never return to this restaurant. They serve the smallest bowl of chips I've ever seen served at a Mexican restaurant. You've been warned. read more

We had great service, even though the place was packed. My other had the chicken mole and really loved the sauce. Said it was surprisingly good mole. I had the seafood chimichanga, which I've had before and loved it. Unfortunately, this time, it wasn't cooked well, and the tortilla was floppy not crispy. BEWARE OF EXTRA CHARGES! WATCH YOUR BILL! This restaurant has a knack for sneaking in additional costs. When my son ordered from the kids' menu, they charged him for an adult drink instead of a kid-sized one. On top of that, they're the only Mexican restaurant I know that charges EXTRA for lettuce and tomatoes in a VEGGIE burrito. When I pointed this out to the waiter, he refused to correct it and insisted that the side burrito is meant to come with meat, cheese, and sauce. My picky eater didn't want any of that--just lettuce, tomatoes, and guacamole. Yet, we were charged extra for all of them. The SIDE burrito ended up costing over $14 at lunch instead of $8, while I could've ordered the lunch macho burrito, asked for no meat, no cheese, no sauce, or no beans, and saved $2 with a bigger portion. That would have seemed silly. What is also silly is charging $8 for just a tortilla and everything else you want in it is extra which is exactly what they did! This isn't the first bad experience I've had here. During a previous visit, the waitress refused to let my then 12-year-old child order from the kids' menu, claiming she looked older than 12. Even after I clarified her age, the waitress insisted, "No, she's not 12." I've had enough of this place--it's not worth the hassle! There are so many other better Mexican restaurants in the area that don't steal money from their customers! read more

Food was really great and service is very nice and helpful in explaining the menu. We had arroz y pollo which was fresh and hot very large portion for smaller appetites can probably be split. The large combination meals are really nice for a couple dollars more than the small and plenty left to take home for lunch the next day. Living in Mill Creek, we have been a customer at the Silverlake location mostly but also downtown Everett for close to two decades. I consider their salsa one of the two best in the area. Last night we had dinner. Service was friendly and prompt. The veggie Gorditas was fine, but there was a real problem on my chicken burrito combo. The sauce tasted like canned tomato sauce with nothing else done to it. Little to no cheese on it and barely warm. Also, the beans for the chips was like water and had to be replaced. It was literally the thickness of milk. Perhaps might've had Substitute chefs I don't know, but definitely failed. read more

Interiors are done with Mexican culture in mind. We were welcomed by a lady; she handed over the menu and showed us a table away from the 'craziness' on the other side of the restaurant. She apologized for the noise - looked like some party was on. She served the Chips and salsa before taking the order. It's a long menu. Plenty of option. We didn't have an appetite for a heavy dinner. So we went for Veggie Fajitas, kids quesadilla and Burrito Loco - everything was vegetarian. The food took around 10-12 mins to arrive. Decent food. Liked the Burrito more than the Fajitas. The burrito was delicious with all the sauces. But the fajitas was bland. I love Fajitas with some real flavors. Even with the hot salsa or sides, nothing really elevated that. Was a disaster. Quesadilla was good - kids liked it. This could be a hit or miss place. Went to Village Theater last Sunday night. Decided to have dinner at El Paraiso. Restaurant was super busy. Service was outstanding and very friendly. I ordered carne asada. The prices are so high, and then to add an up charge on without telling us is poor business practice. When you order a burrito and it is $21, that's bad enough, but to ask if we want them with the chipotle sauce, without mentioning the fact there is an additional charge for it, put this place in the category of "good tasting food, but I won't be back". Too bad, because the food was fresh, and tasted good, great salsa, and bean dip. They also brought out and charged us for large beers, without asking us if we wanted large beers. We went there on 1/19/24 for lunch. The waitstaff was great. The food had very little meat mostly onions and peppers. But when we ask for another dish of salsa in addition to the one we had. They said no only one very small dish per table. We said we would pay for the extra dish. They said they would check. The manager came over with the second dish but warned us they will never do that again. The restaurant was very empty so not having enough dishes was not an issue. There are many great Mexican restaurants in the area. I do not need to feel like a criminal for food that is ok at best. I recommend you choose another Mexican restaurant. read more

I saw El Paraiso come up on FB as a good Mexican restaurant several times and we finally had the chance to try it. I agree, it's very good and will now be the go to Mexican restaurant for us. First the chips and salsa: Chips were fresh, warm and perfectly salted. The salsa was delicious. They know how to make salsa here. It was full of flavor and not too hot. I ordered the fajitas which were fantastic. I ordered their house made corn tortillas with it, which I will do again. I usually order flour with fajitas but I'll take house made corn over store bought flour any day of the week. The chicken was obviously marinated (which is always a good thing) and the veggies were perfectly grilled. Though the rice and beans are secondary to fajitas (my preferred last meal on earth meal) they were as excellent as the main dish. My friends ordered the Tilapia and Carne Asada. Both said they were a 10 out of 10. We all ordered various flavors of margaritas, one shot for me, and it was very good. Not too boozy but not wondering where the tequila was either. Social distancing was good and even if I wasn't already fully vaccinated I'd feel safe in this restaurant. (rather as safe as you can be during Covid while in public). read more

Food was delish and reasonably priced. Waitress wasn't welcoming. She accidentally dropped the utensils and promised to come back and replace them but didn't. She stood in the corner until she delivered our "hot" plates to the table and literally placed it haphazardly. My friend and I looked at the plates and each other and tried to rearrange them as she walked away. Then she turned around and said "Oh, be careful, it's hot!" She was holding mittens for a reason and didn't bother asking whose plate belongs to who. read more

Our family's FAVORITE Mexican food hands down! We've been going here for years (since I was in college and now have a family of my own) and the owner always recognizes us and the staff has a genuine appreciation for all their customers. Food is always consistent, fresh and delicious. Portions are also HUGE! Our favorites are the Carne Asada Burrito, Macho Burrito, Carne Asada platter, Seafood Chimichanga, and the Shrimp Fajitas as SOO flavorful. My kids love their cheese quesadilla w/ rice & beans or chicken taco. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu. When you dine in they give you a warm bowl of beans for dipping your chips into plus salsa and for takeout they include fresh chips and salsa. And for drinks I recommend their freshly muddled mojitos. They have really great lunch prices too so we frequently go there for lunch takeout. Naturally, I can tell their business has slowed due to the pandemic so if you are on the fence and looking local I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! You won't be disappointed. read more

Honestly, I don't know why I haven't done a review for this place before now. I guess better late than never. So we've been eating here for years and years, we moved into this area in 2007. It is basically our go to place when we are in the mood for Mexican food and I can honestly say I don't think we've EVER been disappointed. In fact it's been very consistent in that the staff is always friendly, polite and helpful, the food always good and filling. I really do not remember ever leaving there hungry or annoyed. One of my favorite dishes to order (really awesome as a cold weather, hang-over, cold/flu meal, or just because)...is Menudo (not the 80's boy band). It's a spicy tripe soup and I'm sure not for everyone (I know that most of the haole's I know aren't into tripe), but whenever I visit a Mexican restaurant that is my "Litmus" meal, other than tacos and burritos...Anyhoo. To be honest I don't think I've every had bad Menudo, but if I were to compare other establishments, I would use El Paraiso's Menudo as the standard. I love the flavor, spice and for a soup is able to fill me up, even w/o the tortillas. Other than that, we've always had excellent customer service there, the wait staff always friendly and attentive. So H2O or any other drinks, always filled, chips, salsa and bean dip always full, fast and polite service and fresh made tortilla's while you wait (don't forget to tip the gal for making that hot buttered tortilla) for your table which is usually never very long. When I think about it, they are also very fast and efficient, b/c despite how busy it is, and it always seems to be busy, they are always able seat us quickly, check in on us regularly for beverages and chips, food out quickly and hot, and never waiting for the check. We have never had to get the attention of the wait staff b/c they were always there without being annoying or pushy. Unlike places that make you wait forever just to get a glass of water, drink refill or for your bill. Those are the worst. What's worse than that is when you can see it's not busy...and you still find yourself waiting at which point you have to get someone's attention after 15-20 minutes of waiting....Anyhoo! Okay, I digress. Up until this point I didn't know this was a kind of franchise, so I can't speak for the other locations, but I know this one on Silver Lake has always treated us well. read more

Greeted and seated promptly with menus. Drink order taken right away. Wow! Efficient! Chips were fresh and served with a small dish of great salsa and one of beans. We ordered steak fajitas with flour tortillas and it was served with a separate dish containing sour cream, guacamole, and salsa Fresca. Nice! The steak was cut into small pieces and beautifully carmelized with onions and peppers. A small amount of rice and beans accompanied it. Our friend ordered shredded beef taquitos which also came with the beans and rice. The taquitos were a bit soft and needed to be cut and eaten with a fork rather than be picked up. Drinks were Negra Modelo, Sangaria (good), and a margarita. Service was friendly and attentive. We're kind of burnt out on Mexican food so it was a nice surprise to find this place. read more

I felt every reasonable request was met with frustration on her end. And because she didn't complete the initial request, we had to keep asking. Napkins, more chips & salsa- normal requests. Drink refills were never offered. Portion sizes are also non existent. Rice & beans on the plate was a laughable portion. Not even a 1/4 cup. Remove the cheese on top & there's literally no beans underneath it! We used to love the place. They are fast but clearly the goal is to serve as little food as possible, get people in & get people out. We felt so uncomfortable here. No plans to go back. Unfortunately, even though the food has been great in the past, the lack of common sense this time is causing me to rethink coming here ever again. If you're giving people chips and salsa, why wouldn't you include the bean dip? Was told we'd need to pay 5.99 for a small container but I can get a side order of beans for 5.25. They "added extra salsa" for us though. I don't WANT *salsa*. I don't want EXTRA salsa. Just wanted the same bean dip they serve you complimentary in the restaurant . It doesn't make any sense. Produce is more expensive than beans and they'll give EXTRA of that. What about the free tortillas they give out all night? Way to be super cheap. The staff were attentive to needs, no complaints there. But the food and drinks were terrible! I got a $9 Pina colada that came from their slushie machine and it was absolutely horrible, it wouldn't even stay mixed and tasted like 10 year old skittles. Food wise, chips came with very watery "beans" and salsa that had about 4 chunks otherwise was also watery. I got the enchilada verde chicken. The chicken was very dry and no flavor. They just wrapped it in a dry tortilla. The coleslaw in the center was rancid. The presentation was great though. The beans, verde sauce and rice were unremarkable (but I usually am not too into it so not holding that against them). Once again service was fine and this is not on the employees but the mixture of nasty food and drinks will have me running for good from this place. Some positives. Staff is attentive, plenty of parking. Bar has a good amount of TVs and may be an okay to watch sports. They are open for in house dining. The fact they don't respond to reviews good or bad says a lot about this place. From the most recent reviews I can see that this place has gone down hill and it truly has. We have eaten there for years and went for a special occasion the other night and it was very disappointing to say the least. Only one round of chips salsa and beans. The portion size has been cut down to bare minimum. I had chicken enchiladas and no more nice shredded chicken, just chopped up chunks. No more nice shredded salad just some kind of whatever they threw in the middle. Not coming back. read more

Our monthly book club met here for our book club meeting. Free parking can be found in the parking lot. Discover is an accepted form of payment. Tabs were easily and accurately split. The lounge is a nice size and can easily accommodate large groups. Several large TVs are mounted throughout the lounge. Happy Hour runs daily in the bar from 3pm-6pm then again from 9pm-close. The bar also offers daily specials for those who aren't interested in Happy Hour. Complimentary chips, salsa and refried beans are offered in the lounge. The chips were light and crisp. The salsa mild and flavorful. The beans creamy and tasty. I ordered a couple small Dos Equis for $3.95 (hh). My bestie and I shared the Pollo Ala Diabla for $7.95 (hh): chicken breast sauted with mushrooms and onions in a spicy red diabla sauce. I was quite satisfied with the flavor and spiciness level of our dinner choice. Tortillas do not come with this dish so we ordered a side of tortillas (qty 8) for $3.52.
