Would have given El Paraiso 4 stars but based on my dining experience last night, I'm compelled to give 3 stars. Typically my family and I have enjoyed our time here, but the service last night was really unpleasant... We came in around 5 and it wasn't super busy. We were a party of 3 adults and 2 kids. From the moment we ordered drinks our server rushed us and made us so uncomfortable. We usually spend pretty good money when we come, (our bill last night was $169 before tip.) Not that that should mean anything, but all I'm saying is could we have a few minutes to quietly enjoy our meal and margaritas and converse amongst each other without being bothered every (literally) 3 minutes. Plates were cleared without even asking or being finished. It was honestly bizarre. We left pretty bummed out. Chips and salsa are good, salsa a bit on the spicy side. They also serve a bean dip which is a nice addition. The homemade corn tortillas are really good. We ordered sopes, chicken fajitas, burrito/enchilada combo. All dishes were flavorful except the chicken for the fajitas was pretty gristly. The atmosphere is quite colorful and there is a large bar area. TVs around the restaurant for viewing games and such. Overall would probably come back here but would hope for better service next time. read more

This is the second time in a few months we've come here in the afternoon after my haircut and we get the lunch special and we use our entertainment book coupon so it's buy one get one free and what a great deal. They serve fresh chips with fresh salsa and bean dip to start out which I really enjoy that and our meals always come quickly and they're consistently good and even the lunch special I have left over so that's a bonus. read more

I write this as a Mexican food fan and not a connoisseur so I can't comment on whether or not the food is "authentic " or "traditional ". What I can speak to is whether or not I like it, which I do. I've eaten here on many occasions, pre and post COVID and found the food and service consistently good. They are fast and serve from a fairly large menu selection. The venue is clean with a pleasant atmosphere and not too noisy. El Paraiso (The Paradise) gets my recommendation because they consistently serve good food, quickly and to expectation. I will say this about expectations, everyone's are different at different times. This place will never get a Michelin Star but nobody should walk through the doors looking for that kind of experience. I will happily continue to frequent this restaurant. read more

My friend and his wife have been eating there for 20 years and when my friend's wife recently passed away unexpectedly, the people here came alongside my friend with love and help. Service was good. The atmosphere was nice and the place was well decorated. Colorful wall artwork and plenty of tv screens. The place has a nice vibe. I realize that Mexican restaurants are a crowded field, so the competition is certainly tough. But as another Yelper said, the food wasn't bad, it was just sort of bland. The food and drinks were just ok. Nothing that would compel me to return. We'll probably try El Paraiso again, but for now, we've honestly had much better Mexican food. read more

Quick friendly service. During dinner hours there is a woman making tortillas by hand in the lobby. That, and the wishing well were big hits with my kids. Most recently came here at 2pm on Cinco de Mayo for margaritas. Got seated right away in the bar. Prompt attentive service. The Cazuela Margarita is beyond delicious: fresh squeezed orange, lime and grapefruit juices. Order a double. It's perfectly balanced. Our favorite dish here is the shrimp fajitas. The staff is great. Especially Johnny and Jesus! We love seeing those 2 when we go in. The food is great too, big portions and very tasty. But...the manager/owner is a not nice! There have been 2 incidents, and I am questioning going back which makes me sad. Because the food is pretty good. 1st he was rude to my father. My father asked the bar tender if he could change the TV to the Mariners game and he did. The manager/owner came in and changed it back to soccer. When the bar tender and my father asked why the manager/owner told my dad soccer is on and that's what's going to be playing. He made some other comments to my father that were rude. 2nd he was rude to my son. That is where I draw the line. My boyfriend and I like to sit in the bar to watch sports and my son and his girlfriend like to be on a date and aren't 21 so they sit in the main restaurant. I have been to the Silver Lake location many times before and had always been met with a pleasant experience, until last weekend when a few friends and I went in for a dine in order. Upon being seated the waitress was exceedingly rude. There was no friendly atmosphere whatsoever. As soon as the waitress approached us she was glaring and obviously annoyed with our table for some reason. We made our drink orders, I tried to order a margarita and was promptly told that she could not serve me since I seemed drunk which was definitely not true. I was willing to let that go however, until my friend who is part of the LGBT community also tried to order an alcoholic drink and was then singled out and being asked to take her beanie off for "proper identification". Owner/Manager of this restaurant is simply crabby and mean. I have tried multiple times to just be kind, and it doesn't work. He is controlling and simply doesn't understand Customer Service. This is one of our favorite restaurants. We live in the neighborhood and have eating at El Paraiso for years. I love the food!! I've never had a bad meal or bad service. Everyone is really nice and accommodating. Until last night. My husband was going to meet me there to have dinner. He arrived before me. The host, the owner, asked him if it was for a table for one. My hubs said no it's for two and my wife will be joining me. The man, the owner, told him he could not seat him as both people had to be present in order to sit down. My husband left feeling unsatisfied. Not knowing this happened I walked in and the host, the owner, asked me if I was a table for one. I told him I was meeting my husband here and he should be seated as he was there before me. The owner was very rude and explained that he couldn't seat just one and all people should be present to sit down at a table. I asked if he was serious as none of it made sense. And I couldn't believe how rude THE OWNER was to his clients. Unfortunately we will not be back. It makes me sad as I loved this restaurant. But a restaurant with rude owners does not deserve our business. I feel sorry for his employees. read more

This place has a rodent problem. I don't know what it is about El Paraiso nowadays, but it has gone way downhill. I used to come here all of the time, even after moving further away, I'd make a special trip. No more. I first got turned off when I went here for lunch with my mom. Both of our entrees looked like they had been sitting until a lamp for a long time. Dried out rice, and my taco was so soggy, it fell apart as soon as I picked it up. I commented to my mother that I was surprised and that they must have been having an off day. Well, fast forward a few months and I returned with my husband. We were seated in the back room and were seemingly forgotten about. When I mentioned something, all of a sudden, our entrees appeared, and they were obviously just thrown together because the cheese inside of my cheese enchilada was not melted AT ALL. It was just like what you'd see in a bag of shredded cheese, cold and unmelted. Everything had a funny taste to it, and I honestly cringe at the thought now, because after we paid and started to walk out, I saw a MOUSE run along the wall from the kitchen to the back door. I almost barfed. I pointed it out to the lady serving chips and she just shrugged. I don't know if I was sick from the food, or sick from the thought of having rodent feces in the kitchen I just ate from, but either way, I'm never ever EVER going back. YUCK! read more

My wife and I have visited a couple of times and thought we would give them one more try, won't happen again. Decided we would sit in the bar since we were kidless and were seated right away. Server (who was also bartender) approached and looked kind of grumpy, not very warm or friendly to say the least. We ordered a drink (tequila on ice) and was asked if we would like a double, since it was on the eve of a day off we decided yes. Drinks arrived in tall glasses with ice which gave the appearance we have received what we ordered and subsequently paid for, I took a sip and sure enough, strong tequila flavor. We ordered our meals (me: 2 beef tacos my wife: 1 chicken 1 shredded beef taco) which were delivered in under 6-mins (impressed) but after taking a bite was immediately let down. Flavorless ground beef, which was relatively scarce, a lot of lettuce and a few tomato chunks with some cheese. My wife enjoyed the shredded beef so I tasted it and yes it was much better than the ground beef. After finishing our meal I started sipping on my drink and realized I quickly hit the bottom on the glass... What happened to my double? Grumpy bartender came over and removed our plates without asking how things were so we paid our check and left. When we got into the car my wife said (without being prompted) "The drink was pretty light" and I realized I had no buzz whatsoever either so felt ripped off at that point and thought "There are just too many places in the area to explore vs. coming back". 3 out of 5 for food quality 4 out of 5 for promptness 2 out of 5 for service (grumpy bartender) 0 out of 5 for ever going back read more

While having nice smiles and seemingly polite, I have not had good service at this restaurant. From not bringing ordered items and still being charged to not having water or salsa refilled. But the worst thing happened yesterday and I won't be back. I took a picture of my receipt and then checked my bank account. Despite my having tipped 20% even with subpar service, someone decided I should tip 25% and charged my debit card more than the amount I had entered on the receipt. Andres has treated myself and my family and friends very poorly on several occasions. We have witnessed him give poor treatment to other people working in the restaurant. Great staff are helpful in creating an environment that doesn't necessarily feel like a restaurant for our group of 7-10. Big margaritas and pretty damn good chips, salsa and bean dip. Quick and friendly service in the bar! Happy hour is from 3 pm to 6 pm & 9 pm to close. Happy hour margaritas are $3.95, while draft beers are $2.95/$4.95. They have over 150 special tequilas. And the skylights on the bar are a nice touch. It's always fun exploring new places when you move. I recently moved to the area, and am constantly on the hunt for good neighborhood places to go! Well, first attempt at my favorite "go to" mexican restaurant.... and I found it! I have sat in the Cantina every time I have been to El Paraiso. The service has been a little on the slow side, and that's why I do not give them a full 5 stars. But their food overcomes the slower service obstacle. One thing I LOVE about Paraiso... they serve warm bean dip and salsa with their chips!! That is an automatic win in my book!!!! They also have daily HH specials. Mondays they do $1 tacos and $1 Bud Lights (IF that's your thing!) But I myself like good beer, and they actually do have Hop Slice on tap! Yeyyy for Deschutes beer!!! Their craft beers are actually very reasonable, and they offer 16oz or a 22oz for not much more! I have been for ALL day Taco Monday. They offer soft and hard tacos for the same price $1. Chicken or Beef are your choices. Decent tacos for $1. Cant really go wrong! I have also had their enchiladas, good sauce and good meat to cheese ratio! Sopes, not the best I have ever had but still good. They are a little soggy for my liking. Their rice is really good and I love love love the bean dip! read more

My first visit, even though I've driven past this place dozens of times. I arrived and took a seat at the bar. The bartender asked me what I wanted to drink and I asked what was his favorite cocktail to make. He suggested the Cazuela margarita. It's a gold margarita with multiple muddled fruits, grapefruit, lemon, lime, and orange served in a large bowl-style glass. It was good, but frankly not much different than a traditional margarita. We were served chips with salsa and a bean dip. The bean dip was delicious! What a nice change. For our entrees, my date ordered carne asada and I ordered the fajita burrito. He said he ordered that because you can't really do that wrong (he obviously never read my review of Avocado's), and it was done well. My fajita burrito was massive, at least 3 meal's worth of food crammed in the tortilla. I should have read the description more carefully, because I don't like rice in my burrito. The food was relatively bland, nothing to really distinguish it from any other Mexican restaurant. The service was attentive without being in-your-face. The restroom was tiny! Sitting on the small toilet there was less than 6" from my knees to the door, and there were only 2 stalls (the 2nd being handicap accessible, but being used by mother & child). Very uncomfortable. Overall, I wouldn't avoid the restaurant, but I won't go out of my way to visit again either. In my mind, Las Espuelas in Mountlake Terrace is still the best Mexican restaurant in the area. read more

Conveniently our food came out really fast, and the service was fine. Our server was attentive and was great at keeping our drinks full. This is a great Mexican restaurant in the Silver Lake area. A rating of "not good" doesn't reflect how bad this was. We were hungry so we started looking for a place to eat... looked long and hard for a place for a nice meal, hard to find in Everett on a Monday. An hour plus, we FINALLY found El Parisio. Carol ordered a quesadilla. I pointed at the menu to order... a Taco Salad. The service was friendly, but my meal was the worst. They brag up their own tortillas but when my salad arrived, it was in a pool of water on the plate. The salad was about the size of a common cereal bowl. The meat (chicken) had no spice what was equivalent in size to a dinner salad. Our waitress asked how everything was. Starved, I had eaten the lettace and chicken, Al beit in a pool of water, so I told her and tried to pick up the remnants of the soaked tortilla and it fell apart into the pool of water. She got a very uncomfortable look when she said she'd get the manager but because she clearly looked cowed when she mentioned her manager, I told her not to bother, just let it be known that it was terrible. She went in and the Manager showed up. When I tried to tell him how badly they'd missed the mark, he got loud and belligerent. We had a service dog that jumped up and barked immediately after he "barked", then he cursed the dog and spun on his heal and left. $71 out the door. The gal who helped us was great and got her tip, but my meal was the worst, it was clearly indefensible, and the manager is belligerent and insulting. ...and there was no detectable tequila in our $11.25 margaritas. Went to dinner with hubby tonite. We ordered 2 large combo's. Mine was warm, but not hot. Husband's was simply cold so he asked to have it heated up. Server brought the "reheated" plate out - still cold! Husband, frustrated now, just told them to take it back and he would just skip dinner now. I wasn't going to eat in front of him so boxed up part of my combo and left disappointed. Was charged for mine only, but honestly feel we shouldn't have been charged at all for this major lack of service and a ruined night out. After years eating at this restaurant, won't be back. Side note - ordered taco salad for pickup a month ago...5 mintes from home - it was cold, shell was soggy, dripping with oil, about 1/3 filled with little "salad" and barely any meat. Have been coming here for years, but recently the staff has gotten worse and it almost seems like they don't care for your business. We always tip above and beyond, but a particular waitress always has RBF and almost seems as we're a nuisance. I thought it was just us, but a number of personnel I spoke with feel the same way.
