We were waiting for the final member of our party and it took longer than expected. Staff were very accommodating and never made us feel like we were imposing. Started with drinks and complimentary chips & salsa - which were great! Added an order of guacamole which was creamy but not the usual mush you get elsewhere. Clearly was made fresh! Went on to have the fish tacos which arrived wrapped in foil to keep plenty hot. All three were very tasty and filled to the max - almost too much. Definitely going again. Got 3 adults in the house working hard to install a new floor and wanted to make sure we were fed well, friend wanted mexican so I ran down the road to this place. It's tucked away a little. Nice place, staff seemed really friendly, ordering to go from the menu was straight forward and I was given water while I waited on the food, which really did not take long. Happy to get food and get back to the project. I picked up a chicken quesadilla, the friend said it tasted very good, compliments to the chef. I also got the 5 enchilada sampler, all very good as well, the chicken was my favorite. Also ordered the beef chimi, waiting on the verdict but I stole a little rice and beans and.. wow, super tasty. The decor was very nice. The restaurant is more spacious than I thought it would be from looking at it from the outside. It has a full bar -- a nice place for happy hour. I had the tamale trio which was delicious. My sister had the Chile Relleno and said it was spicy hot, which she liked. They have a large menu, so it is hard to decide what to order. I ordered 6 lunch taco plates, because that was what was available on Yelp. When I got to the restaurant to pick up my food 15 minutes after I ordered it, they said it wasn't lunch time anymore and that I needed to pay $4/plate more bc it was dinner prices. OK, I came here yesterday. Today after work, I was not too hungry, but knew I needed something for dinner. I decided to stop by and see if they have an a la carte menu. I found out that they are flour tortillas, but deep fried. I think that gives them the slightly crunchy but freshly made texture I experienced yesterday. I thought about getting some Salsa and Chips also, but in the end, decided not to. I also decided that once the weather gets above 80F, I do not want to cook. Whether it is inside or outside, it's not for me. Though I have done the nuker type meals that is not something I enjoy either. Maybe nuke a leftover meal I made, but do not purchase them often. I have not visited a FF Mexican place in quite a while. My preference is not to ever again. I will say, that these tacos with a freshly deep fried flour tortilla, do not hold up well for takeout. They tend to get soggy. That is not a dig on the quality they try to achieve. That is the way the chemistry of cooked foods works.. I would suggest if ordering takeout, to go there and order at the shop. The two times I have been there, my food was very quickly prepared. I like my Mexican foods a bit spicier, but truth be told, I have not asked for it either. I am sure they will accommodate a request for a spicier salsa to put on what ever I order. I do not know if this is authentic Mexican, but I think they try to be. They have the decorations, the full bar, the music and the friendly servers. Was my first time here and it wasn't bad at all. I had gotten the deep fried tilapia topped with grilled shrimp and served with rice and Pico De Gallo. I expected the fish to be small, but it came out huge. It darn near filled the whole plate. The sauce that was topped on the fish was tasty. Absolutely horrifying experience. Although my fiancée and I may look Hispanic sometimes, we are Pacific Islanders and come from Asian decent. Flour tortilla? food was wet, soggy, tasteless, filled with water, and lacked everything Mexican food should have. The rice and beans was the only thing palatable yet about as tasty as a wet tissue paper. I threw away 4 of the 6 tacos we got. I highly recommend to eat anywhere else but this place. No respect. Wonderful space - as the other reviewers say, bigger than it appears on the outside. A lot of booths, and happy to see a good crowd in there on a Tuesday night. Chips and salsa were brought out immediately, and they were delicious. They had a great kids menu, including tacos, burritos, quesadillas, grilled chicken, and more. My favorite item was the tamale. The burrito was ok. Next time, I think I'll try the Tamale Trio. It took a little longer than I would have liked for the bill (our coats were on, and it was clear we were ready to go), but it didn't sour our visit entirely. This is truly authentic Mexican food! The menu is HUGE and the atmosphere is fun and laid back! Definitely a place to bring a group of friends!! There are so many different things on the menu to try, from classic carne asada to exotic fish tacos to some sort of burrito that comes in a pineapple! GIANT portions, prices are low / reasonable, staff is friendly, and our meal came in less than ten minutes hot and fresh. The shrimp chimichanga is divine, and the tour de Mexico is delicious and for $12.50 you get so much food you'll be eating it for a week! It is located in a strip mall, don't let that hold you back. The staff here is super professional and attentive. I asked for a recommendation from the waiter- he recommended the chipotle chicken- I had no idea what to expect and it was packed with flavor, super awesome you need to try it (it is a bit on the spicier side just a heads up). Free complimentary salsa a bit mild for my liking so I asked for something a bit spicier and they came back with a green salsa that was delicious! So happy to have discovered El Sombrero! Located in a strip mall, I was pleasantly surprised at how CLEAN and pretty it is inside. It is a much larger restaurant inside than it appears from the street. Chips and delicious salsa were brought to our ample booth quickly. (If you like sitting in a booth- this is the place for you- so many booths!) The chips are served warm (yeah). We ordered draft beers, there are 4 on tap (3 are Mexican beers), and they were pretty cheap even though we missed happy hour pricing. Our entrees were served w/in 10 minutes or less from the time we ordered. The tacos were individually wrapped and piping HOT. The chimichangas were delicious and loaded with beef. Super fresh lettuce and tomato, beans and rice, and the entire plate was artistically presented. Going to be a regular here! Also, if you are one of those people who never know how to order a Mexican dish, there are very pretty pictures of the entrees lining the wall like art work. That may sound cheesy, but they are actually quite pretty and not tacky. You might say they are "tastefully" done. read more
