Okay, so... My friend and I were in town for Beyonce. We are from Chicago and we love, love, love Mexican food. We can eat tacos and drink margaritas for days. Searched places in Minneapolis for Mexican food according to highest ratings first. The first place we tried didn't have drinks. No bueno. So, we decided to come here... Start with the good: the chips and salsa = amazing. The Texas margarita pitcher = amazing. And very moderately priced. So, we were super satisfied on those two things. And maybe we should have just left it at drinks, chips, and salsa. Because... -_- Two problems The first one was with a taco. Now, in Chicago (and everywhere else I've had tacos from a restaurant) the tortilla is usually fried or browned just a little bit. They put the tortilla on the plate straight out of the package. And when we asked if they could brown it, it seemed to be kind of a big deal. And even after they ended up doing it, it still wasn't browned... And wasn't good. He also had a enchilada which was very doughy and had way too much oil on the plate -- as if they didn't even bother draining the meat. I had the nachos fajitas, which weren't amazing, but I ate them anyway. Guys... I really shit you not (pun intended)... This food fucked our stomachs all the way up. Both of us. I'm not sure what that was all about, but... Yeah. I'm glad I went here on Sunday and not Monday, because if I was definitely bed ridden for the rest of the evening. Chile relleno was very salty, couldn't tell the difference between the burrito and enchilada besides one was a corn tortilla and one was flour . All smothered in a bland red sauce. Having recently moved to the area, I was stunned to have found this gem! I was skeptical of a Mexican restaurant in a strip mall let alone in Eagan but it's phenomenal! The food is always fresh and delicious, margaritas are acceptably strong, and the service is great! As someone who only eats chicken or seafood, my menu options were more limited than my counterparts but still a huge selection. I have enjoyed the Burrito California, fish tacos, and combo dinner (chicken burrito and chicken enchilada) and have always left satisfied (ok, stuffed!) and with leftovers. Best kept secret in a town (Twin Cities) filled with great Mexican restaurants. First of all there was soccer playing on the flat screen tv, great works of Mexican themed art - really intriguing works - and a busy, happy welcoming staff. Our party of six was seated immediately. The chicken fajitas were heaven-on-the-taste-buds excellent: a slightly smokydry rub spice, not like the fast food chains, and the flavor of smoked chili infused the vegetables too which were generous, sliced perfectly making the abundant chicken the star of the dish. Beef chimichangas, also delicious, authentic and accompanied by tasty re fried beans et al. Guacamole, sour cream. All real deal goodness. The margaritas, guacamole, salsa, all straight from the heart of a kitchen in love with serving wholesome delish authentic food. Epic. The price was right, making it a real value too. I had lunch at El Parian this month, and enjoyed the combination of tasty food, good prices, and gracious service. They have a large menu, including a host of lunch options - I enjoyed my enchilada/burrito combo with beans, and my wife's meal looked even better, as it had more green stuff on top (lettuce, etc.). I'm sure we'll be going back. A few things to note: - The restaurant is not huge, but there's ample seating. - The wait staff was friendly, VERY friendly. This place is awesome. It's not the best Mexican food around the area (probably El Azteca in Apple Valley), but it is excellent. Everything I have had here has been fine. Get whatever Mexican fantasy you want; don't think too hard. What you really need to get is the nacho cheese. It is the best liquidy goopy cheese ever. I know that's not, like, the most romantic way to describe food. But you aren't eating crab legs at a fancy seafood restaurant (like Bubba Gumps or Red Lobster or something) - you're at El Parian. Eat that liquid cheese gold. Put it on everything. So order what you want and order a side of nacho cheese. The place is small and quiet. Which is nice because the service is usually pretty quick then. I've been there for dinner and there weren't any tables left, but then it was just a little wait. No big deal. The lunch specials are awesome. You get a bunch of food for under $10 and some chips. The margaritas are awesome. They have some sizes that are insanely big - I recommend having 5 or 6 of them. Realized a little before 2pm when a table that arrived after us got their food that our order wasn't coming up. Weak apology from waitstaff no offer to comp or anything. This is the best and most authentic food in the cities! The owner is from Guadalajara and serves his own recipes. The employees ensure you are enjoying the food. They have a wide selection of beer (Bohemia is the best), margaritas, and piña coladas as well. And don't forget to have Tequila! Try the Carnitas! We traveled to Eagan over the weekend for some shopping, but also to try this little Mexican place. It's a small establishment, maybe 10 tables for patrons to dine at. It was pretty much full even after lunch was over. Our waiter was awesome and the other waitress working also tended to our tables and interacted with our 6 month old while he was fussing. I really enjoyed the lunch fajitas as well as the chorizo dip. My husband had the chimichanga and flauta combination. He really loved his food too. This is about as good as it gets.
