I'm back! Back in town and we had more family with us. They saw the goat being grilled through the kitchens window on our way in and that's what they wanted. We all smelled the food walking in, they enjoyed everything the food was perfect. We were all quiet when the food came everyone was focused on enjoying it. The best thing about this restaurant was the service. I came in at 3:30 pm on the wrong side of the building but was immediately let in everyone was very polite. The waiter was very polite and was very efficient in his service. I had the cabrito (kid goat) enchiladas, which I thought needed work. the Mole sauce was great, but the Cabrito were just small tough little bit of something couldn't quite tell what the meat was. The second best part of the restaurant was the salsa. I was pleasantly surprised that it had some heat to it and a very tasty flavor. The chips were a bit hard so have good teeth. read more

Very friendly staff and the owner is also very nice. The food was very good. Price point is perfect for what we got. Ambience is very relaxed, low lighting. We went in the middle of the week so not a lot of traffic for the time we went. Highly recommend. read more

I ordered from El Pastor Grill last night for the first time for delivery and I was impressed with the service, quality and quantity of food I received. I ordered the Enchiladas Americanas and Champinones al Ajillo. I received a call from the manager and was told that the chef misread the Champinones al Ajillo for Camarones al Ajillo and that they did not have the Champinones al Ajillo (Fresh mushrooms slices sauté in wine and guajillo-garlic sauce) and asked if they could send the Camarones al Ajillo (Shrimp sauté in our scampi sauce) for the same price of the mushrooms and I said that would be fine. I have to say that the enchiladas were the best I have ever eaten at any of the restaurants here in McAllen. The manager apologized profusely and told me thank you. Kudos to the manager!! Went in looking for nostalgia; left with taste of disappointment. My family and I have been coming to this place since I was a kid and it was in Reynosa. We were so excited when it opened up in McAllen just north of the expressway. We weee sad when that location closed. It was our go to for a fancy cabrito dinner. Imagine our excitement when we heard it opened up on north 10th! We decided to go on a Tuesday because the menu online said they had cabecita 2 for 1 on Tuesdays. We arrived after lunch rush but pre dinner and it wasn't busy at all. 1st disappointed, they didn't have limonada. We were shown their very small menu which did not indicate the Tuesday special so I asked about it. Waiter said they no longer had that special because that picture of the old menu was 11 months old (2nd disappointment). We ordered 3 cabecitas anyway because that's what we came here for and everything was more expensive than what we had seen. While we waited for the meal, we ate the chips. Normally, they serve the corn chips with one toasted flour tortilla but not this time. The whole toasted tortilla was corn too and the chips were stale (disappointment 3). We asked for some different salsas and 2 were brought but none were that traditional smoked salsa or the red one (you know which ones if you frequent cabrito places). Disappointment number 4. Usually you get served a simple salad and ranchero beans but there was no salad and the beans were salty. (D5) The cabecitas arrived and were as we remembered. The rice served on the patilla was a weird touch because it got a little burnt but it was ok. The service was slow too even though there were only 3 tables seated and us (a party of 3). I know you can't go home again, but we were disappointed. We had always loved this place. We will be going to the other cabrito restaurant in town because we receive better service there. read more

Absolutely no flavor with cabrito. Not grilled it was like eating boiled chicken. Not worth the money. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

This is my new go to place for breakfast !! I have yet to try their dinner but the breakfast was AMAZING and so authentic !!! On top of their breakfast bar you can also order eggs to order and even add things how you like! They even have menudo on week days, which is a big plus because most Mexican places only serve this dish on weekends . I'm sad I didn't get our servers name because he was great and always refilled my coffee as soon as I finished (I am a huge coffee person so I loved never running out of coffee as I'm having my breakfast). They also have other non Mexican breakfast options like cereal , oatmeal , pastries , fruit and yogurt ! Definitely worth trying! read more

Would give them negative stars if it was positive Food was horrible!!! Service was ever worse!! We had a party of 11 people they took forever to seat us. Since we sat down, it took the waiter for ever to bring the drinks. He claimed that they ran out of lemonade but yet other people were served pitchers of it. Once he finished bringing the drinks he took forever to get our order. Then, the food was ready and the cook was ringing the bell for pick up, the guy again took forever and none of the other waiters said or did anything. The cabrito was dry and very small in portion. The sirloin was hard and dry. Ribeye was to "marbled" horrible experience!! My sister asked for dressing and below you'll see what they gave her. The whole Sams mega bottle at the table!!!! He never asked if we wanted refills! We had to constantly ask for them and even then, didn't get them!! We even had to ask for drinks in a pitcher so we didn'thave to share from each others drinks. Then they ran out of tea. So, they brewed a new one but it lacked the tea!!! It looked like chamomile tea and tasted like dirty water. When I complained about the tea the manager said it was done since this morning but I clearly saw him making it. When I paid, I told him about everything that was wrong and that we literally had to share napkins and he still charged 15% gratuity!!! At that point I didn't even bother!! Ohh almost forgot... we even shared the silverware. This has been one of my worst dining experiences in my life and Ive dined in some messed up countries. Finally, they were trying to figure out the tea issues and they started to poke the tea brewer with a receipt spindle. I don't think Texas Health Department approves of that but oh well. read more

Went to eat with family on Saturday May 12, 2018 for Mother's Day. Service was good, food was delicious except for the hotel ribs. The quality of meat was not good, didn't have a good taste and they were very tough. Had a variety of parrilladas.
