My friend and I stopped here on a whim while we were out shopping. He was craving steak tacos. I wasn't super hungry so I just ordered one pastor taco. When we walked in no one greeted us or said anything. They seemed short staffed. People were eating and paying for their food up at the front. When the waitress came over to us she said a brief hello and gave us menus. My friend ordered a coke and I got water. My water came in a bottle, which I don't like. I prefer getting a class of water. The coke is only sold in cans and not bottles. Between us we had two steak tacos, a lengua taco and a pastor. The pastor meat was a little dry and did not have great flavor. The lengua was similar, but the asada tacos were great!!! The meat had great seasoning and flavor! If I try this spot again the asada tacos will be my go-to. read more

Customer service was great. Place is a little small but has a sufficient amount of tables. Was greeted and attended very well. Came here with a few friends and all of us liked it very much. Ordered 4 tacos of asada which were very tasty and delicious. They came with charro beans on the side. They were okay but I really liked the tacos. Passing through town and stopped in here for dinner with my daughter. It was a little disconcerting that we had to get let in by key like it was a pawn shop lol. From living on the Mexican border in Texas and in California, I think I'm a pretty good judge of Mexican food. The food here was really authentic from the best guacamole I ever had to the salsas verde and roja. We had the tacos and they were really good. The horchata was on point too. We both ordered our tacos on corn tortillas but my daughter got hers on flour. We also wanted cilantro and onions and they didn't come that way they were still good. This is one of my absolute favorite taquerias in Indy. The owners even indulge me in selling me meats by the 1/4lb. The lengua (tongue), tripa (tripe), cabeza (head), barbacoa (goat), and sesos (brain) are all so phenomenal I have trouble picking just two each time I go. It's all cooked absolutely perfectly, and the taste transports you to Mexico. Their salsas are fantastic, and the menudo is decadent. The nopales are a bit slimy, but worth it (IMHO). For years, this place was my absolute favorite place, and I've only found two (one central and one south) that even compare. Tasty morsels. Friendly service. Authentic. Affordable for any budget. My partner and I decided to venture outside of our typical Mexican food comfort zone yesterday at lunch, and this place was no disappointment. It is by far the most authentic Mexican restaurant we have ever visited in Indianapolis. The service is a little slower than other places, but I will accept that in return for the friendly smile and delicious food we were served. Knowing a little Spanish will probably spark a conversation with your waitress, but isn't necessary. Not your typical "chips and salsa". Instead, customers are served a green sauce, orange-ish sauce, and a pickled assortment of veggies with chips. DELISH. The queso is a little thin, but tastes great nonetheless. Just what the doctor ordered: menudo, tacos, tamales, beans & rice, Negra Modelo -- everything a body could wish for. Language barrier no problem. An authentic little gem: Good carne asada tacos, a very nice if almost too rich goat barbacoa taco, all served with onion, cilantro, and a tray of orange salsa, green salsa, and pickled onions. For add-ons I recommend grilled green onions and the unusually good guacamole. Pleasant service, and you may end up conducting your entire transaction in Spanish. read more

Been here a couple times. Once with a large group of friends and the service was horrible, the food was just plain disgusting and the chips were stale. The female server we had was rude and very disrespectful, was rushing us to place our orders and couldn't give an opinion when asked to give suggestions. She mumbled complaints numerous times when we would ask her for something and she even had the nerve to give is some horrible looks like we were an inconvenience to her. The food was brought out to some of the people at our table and the rest took so long to come out that the food at the table was already cold. Second time around was almost the same except I went with just a couple of friends who rave about this place and convinced me to try it again. Although, the service wasn't half as bad as the first time the food was still horrible and takes long to get to the table, again only one of us got our order and the rest came later when the the food that was brought out first was cold already. Poor service, horrible food, I'm amazed how they have so many establishments, but then again it's more of a bar type of joint than a taqueria. Both times I was there, there was groups of men just drinking away on one occasion I seen a couple men walk out stumbling. Never again will I come here. read more

The Tamale place does not open until 11 on Sunday, their loss. Win goes to El Pastorcita which was OPEN. Simple menu, the usual Mexican foods, tamales, tacos, enchiladas, and caldo. Great for me, I am from El Paso. Pozole was my choice today. Meaty, lots of hominy, great broth, and flavorful. The side of sauces as described in previous reviews. Not to far of the beaten path, near 465. Good service, good music on the jukebox -I like Tejana musica. I felt a bit out of place, confirmed by the looks of others in place. But I will be back. Fabulous and very authentic. Service is always very personable, even when there is a language barrier to overcome. Prices are super reasonable and the food is outstanding! They also serve Mexican Coke by the bottle which is great. I love all the varieties of tacos, although I'll warn the gringos that the goat meat is prepared very authentically and will probably have more fat and connective tissue than you are used to eating. It was still good. The Tortas are good and the refried beans are the best in the city. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! This was absolutely the WORST experience I have ever had. The waitress didn't greet us for about 5 minutes and I asked for water and chips ... after about 10 minutes, she brings a bottle of water (which they charged$2 for!) The chips came out of a bag from the grocery store and get this! They brought a community salsa, once your done with the salsa that you can clearly tell other people ate out of; they put it in the fridge and then once the next customer comes they get the SAME exact one!!! There has to be a many health violations with this place. Additionally, they scoop things with cups out of large containers that are in the fridge... it was the most bizarre experience and I have no idea how they are still open. The waitress had to flip the menu open to put the prices in the register for the items we ordered. It was a big fat no from me. I couldn't even eat it. Don't waste your time or money. read more

Amazing food!! The guacamole was probably some of the best I've had in Indy ( I eat out 4 days a week). I got the carne de pollo fajitas and they didn't disappoint. My friend got the al pastor tacos and was also thrilled. Overall the experience was a good one and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for AUTHENTIC Mexican dishes. read more

I went with the waitresses recommendation of the cubano. It was pretty good except I'm not a big fan of hot dogs on a torta. Everything else about it was good and as I looked around at the other tables all the food looked good.
