Epic taco
Stacie B.

A fun spot a bit out of the hub so it was quieter and with plenty of seating. We were greeted warmly and got a booth quickly. We were there in time for the happy hour which offers drinks and food! We had some delicious queso and chips which were plentiful and crispy. We also ordered the crispy cauliflower bites which were amazing! I would eat those all day long as they weren't heavy and the sauce was light and tangy. Perfect! My epic taco was fun and delicious but way too much for me. The flight size was better as it was more typical street taco. Next time I would either do the flight and share or not get appetizers...just too much food and so good you didn't want to miss a bite! Overall a delicious menu and yummy food. We would go back and fun to try their taco Tuesday or other specials.

Been here twice now and definitely would return. The tacos are very innovative and are LOADED. The nacho tray is a must order. Honestly one of those places you can probably order anything and it be solid. I love 'The Bomb' taco - must order. Very nice bourbon & tequila list as well and the drinks here are great!

While in the area decided to visit here for the first time. We were warmly greeted and seated right away. Our server, Addison, was incredibly friendly and quick to explain the menu. The decor was unique and fun to examine. I ordered a strawberry lemonade, chips and queso for the table. For my entree, 3 mix and match tacos. I really enjoyed the gangsta taco.

I sat at the bar and had a quick and delicious experience. Awesome and unique tacos! A few people told me not to go there because their "service", but I had no issue at all. The food is choice. This would be my second Agave and Rye (first was Columbus, OH). Service was quite fast, and the bartender was awesome. Definitely get some great food here and would recommend it.

My family is never going to let me choose the restaurant (or the movie, but that's an entirely different story) again! Devour Summerfest 2025 is in full swing and I, my daughter, my cousin and my aunt always get together to celebrate our love of food. We often times end up at the same restaurant, but we've been trying to venture out, and this go-round I chose Agave and Rye. 3 out of 4 of us love Mexican food and cocktails, so why not?! Upon our arrival, 2 of our 3 vehicles lucked up by getting primo parking spaces right in front of the entrance, but I could see parking being a potential problem. Our 3rd parked somewhere near The Y. My cousin was waiting for us and had been sat in the God-awful booth that had a television inside of it, taking up the entire wall. You could literally hit your head on it during your meal. I immediately, went to the host stand to request alternative seating. I was met with some resistance, and informed that half of the entire dining room had been reserved for a private event (hosted by Eli Lilly). Eventually, we were moved to the bar. The decor is top-tier. It is very elegant meets street. Throughout the night, I noticed that the bartender (who was also our server) was "doing his big one" mixing and making all of those drinks! He was the only one behind the bar, and at times drinks were lined up and waiting for servers to come and retrieve them. He had good energy and checked on us often. My cousin ordered their Ghost Pepper Salsa and we were given fair warning regarding the level of heat. It was not an exaggeration...that mess was HOT! I only had a chip or two. The Devour Menu didn't have pricing on it, so I inquired and was told that it was $27 for the three courses. It was also Margarita Monday and their house margs were 1/2 off. I was told by the guests that got the frozen margs that they were really strong. I got mine on the rocks and it was quite the opposite. I tasted zero alcohol. Now for the food. Three of us got the Buffalo Chicken Dip for our first course. 5/10 - not at all what we were expecting. It was queso with a few pieces of the honey-chipotle grilled chicken floating in it. Nothing "buffalo" about it. Also, the house-made tortilla chips were much too thick in my opinion. Two of us had the Taco Flight for the entree. 0/10 - One person sent theirs back and opted for the burger instead. One person just let their tray wither and die on the table. The feedback was that the toppings were too cold, or the food had just gotten cold in the window waiting to be picked up. Also, the meat was tough. My cousin wrestled with a piece of steak and lost! I ordered the Cheese-Filled Enchiladas topped with Birria. 2/10 - The cheese filling was cold and hard and the birria was dry. It had good flavor, but it lacked moisture. I took it home, hoping that once reheated, I might be able to add some sauce to the birria...but alas, it sat in the fridge until I tossed it last night. Today is our trash pick-up. The highlight of the meal for me was the Strawberry Cheesecake Dip with Churro Chips. It was a nice, sweet treat, but they use the same thick tortilla chips, so I only had a few. I was later informed that my other cousin didn't come because he said "that place is booty!" I wished I'd been informed sooner! LOL I could see maybe returning for drinks (the frozen ones) and the vibes.

***not sure what's going on Yelp*** I have typed out a review 3 times but it's gone. Great service every time, always friendly and quick no matter the crowd. Awesome drink deals all week and a happy hour. Free arcade games too. Beautiful doesn't describe it, it's stunning place, your eyes never rest.

Amazing date night or girls night spot! The tacos here are out of this world. They have street tacos too if you don't like the OTT ones. And the margs are so fun and tasty!

Agave & Rye was the perfect girls' night spot--fun, lively, and cute enough for pics while still feeling relaxed. The Happy Pappy was bold and flavorful with great balance from the pickled onions/cilantro, and the Quesabirria was a standout: crispy, cheesy, and even better dipped in the consommé. The Bourbon Peach Punch was the MVP--smooth, peachy, and strong without being too sweet. Overall: great vibe, two taco wins, and a drink worth coming back for.

We were so excited to see this spot-we've eaten at an Agave and Rye in Chatty and it was fantastic! We were immediately greeted by super friendly hosts and shown to our seats. However our server did not continue that same attitude. We definitely felt like she had other places to be. We ordered an app and our food, which all came out quickly. Hubby ordered a beer which finally arrived as we were finishing up our meal. The food was good-but not as incredible as we had experienced before. Hosts were super friendly on our way out. The decor is amazing!

Place absolutely rocks. Great outdoor seating with great service. There massive chips are phenomenal. Mac and cheese donuts are to die for. Waitress was really good . Recommend this place for sure

Jessica R.

Enjoyed a nice dinner here with a small group. We tried a few different things, including the mac and cheese donuts, guac and chips, and multiple tacos. They have lots of unique items on their menu and everything was well made and quite tasty. Our server was friendly and helpful and everything we ordered arrived quickly.

Two must gets: Brussel Sprouts & Bang Bang Tacos I know, this place does boast veggie life, but trust me, their veggies are delicious! The Brussel sprouts appetizer has almonds and the Brussels cone roasted and swimming in sauce. It's so good! The tacos are very unique and come loaded with toppings. I've tried quite a few of their signature tacos and my favorite by far is the Bang Bang which is a cauliflower and corn fritter taco. It works! I wouldn't recommend this spot for hard core authentic taco seekers, but if you are interested in trying tacos with a twist, give this spot a try. Best thing is they have a happy hour so some tacos are on special most nights. Check their website for the weekly specials. I also enjoy the drinks here. They range from cute to plain, but they are all tasty!

We visited Agave & Rye for a team lunch on a weekday. Not too many customer so we got a 12 seater table in no time. I knocked off 2 stars cause the nachos were stale, possibly fried a day earlier. I then ordered shrimp Rangoon bites and a taco flight both which had so less salt and spices. It didn't just taste good, just something missing. I am someone who really takes my reviews seriously but for a weekday and no customers, plus with all the hype the food had to be better

While the initial presentation was a bit more understated than I anticipated, the flavor was a total 8/10 triumph! The staff was also incredibly accommodating when it came to my preferences; they brought over a lovely selection of chips and sauces, but were perfectly gracious when I mentioned I prefer to avoid the heat. I like a dim atmosphere, but it was hardly lit enough to read the menu. It was difficult to navigate as it was mostly in Spanish. Extremely limited vegetarian options which I'm not sure I can assume were actually without chicken base in the rice, etc. I didn't even see a vegetable fajita on the menu. My vegetarian burrito sans crema and cheese consisted of little more than rice and a couple small diced pieces of avocado and diced tomato. Iceberg lettuce? I saw corn niblets and a pea fall out. Bland. Hot sauce choices not fantastic. What kind of burrito contains no beans?? Everyone else at my table received flatware. I was given a plastic fork. Once I received an actual fork & knife, they kept tearing the paper underneath my burrito. Strangely served with raw cucumber (ick) & lime wedges on the side. Edible at best. The atmosphere looked interesting upon entry, but it felt grungy, the chairs were heavy. I was seated right next to a brick wall/chimney. Service was sparse. Definite language barrier. The dish my companions received was an array of meat in a molcajete. Mixed feedback on the peppers being ungodly too hot & some of it, especially the sausage, having a good flavor. It was massive & messy. It was interesting initially but definitely didn't look appetizing to me. That came with a bowl of beans in sauce with what we later discovered were Chicharrón on top. It looked like boiled mystery chicken skin. A friend from SoCal I consulted online had no idea what it was from my photo as we tried to discern it & they didn't realize it was even Mexican food from the appearance. It was assumed I was at an Asian joint. We had to ask for drink refills far into our meal. I was given a fresh new cup. The server took another person's cup from the table and refilled it in the back. That was strange and seemed unsanitary. We didn't get everything we asked for. I'd say language was the problem except for the fact the server had understood my requests when "crema" was the only Spanish word I used. Ladies' room had room for one person at a time. The sink was backing up. It felt dingy like the rest of the building. I'm glad they had paper towels and not just a hand blower. I didn't choose the restaurant. It was one of the worst if not THE most horrible Mexican meals & experiences I've had in my life. Hard pass. I'd gladly pay more for better fare elsewhere. I can make far superior at home.

As we moved to the bar to wait for our food, the bartender informed us that he had put away the rim device to salt our glasses. We had already paid, so what were we to do. We said, "ok." Then we questioned what time they closed. We doubled checked, 9:30. It was only 8:30. I don't prefer a margarita without salt but felt stuck. Also, it wasn't as if we were the last ones to come in. I counted at least 6 parties that came in after us. The chorizo queso was excellent. The tacos were decent. However, while it may seem like a small thing, the lack of salt on the rim of my $12 margarita really sunk this place for me. I've never bartended, but I don't feel like it's a lot of work to salt a rim. Even if the stuff was put away (an hour early).

I don't usually shop at a Mexican grocery unless I am looking for cotija cheese for making elote. However, I entered the grocery because the sign in front of the restaurant entrance said it was closed. I clearly saw people working at the food counter and a customer standing there, so I went through the grocery to see what was going on. Apparently, nobody had removed the sign and left a "caution" cone blocking the door. Anyway, after the weird start, I enjoyed my experience. The colorful dining room has lots of festival streamers hanging from the ceiling and loud Mexican music playing. (Note that the grocery has an equally loud sound system playing something completely different so you get a weird stereo effect that is hard to tune out.) The dining booths go about half way back into the restaurant on both sides. Beyond the left side is a cooking area with a large menu posted over the top. Even though there is a counter at the cooking area, you don't order there. Behind you on the right near the back of the restaurant is a smaller counter with a cash register and a menu booklet that you order from. Once you place your order and pay, you wait and they will bring it out to you. Note that any beverages are sold in bottle form and are self-serve from the cooler next to the order counter. The wait was fairly short considering they prepare the entrees to order. I went with a couple tacos (with the cilantro and white onion) and ordered rice and beans. Apparently the cashier had a little trouble understanding me when I ordered the Asada and Pollo tacos. I was brought out the Asada and Lomo instead. (I was the only customer at the time.) But, instead of sending it back, I like pork loin as well as chicken, so I simply added some green sauce (mild) and a few drops of red (supposed to be hot, but I didn't think it was that hot.) The tacos were excellent. They were served on double layered corn tortillas. I usually prefer flour, but wasn't given an option here. These were the best tasting corn tortilla shells I've had. And the ingredients inside were delicious with the added items being colorfully fresh. The side of beans and rice were forgettable. Not bad, just lacking much texture and flavor. Very bland and not much other than filler when compared to the robust flavor of the tacos. The staff was friendly and the restaurant was pretty clean looking, so given the high quality of flavor, I would recommend stopping by to quench your Mexican food cravings. Review #2698

I wasn't thrilled about that, at first, but several larger groups were seated in the same area near the entrance. The booth was spacious and comfortable, and the decor is very bright and vibrant. I ordered the Marg of the Month for May, which was the Bee Sting Margarita. It is made with jalapeno honey and lots of slices of fresh jalapeno.
