Our group of 3 came in after beach on Sunday for a late lunch. Got 2 sopa marinara and a platter of steak tacos with side salad. The place is very basic. It's the kind of place that gives off dive bar vibes where locals hang out to watch soccer and drink beer. Frankly, the smell was not inviting. The waitress assumed we all spoke Spanish. No biggie, we winged it. The seafood soup initially looked great with all the shellfish sticking out from the broth. Upon closer inspection was 3 shrimp, 4 mussels , 3 clams, chicken lobster and small crab. Good thing shrimp was easy to eat because the rest was a huge mess. Piping hot soup and shellfish? I'm so happy that this authentic Honduran restaurant is like 5 minutes away from me! They have the most delicious inexpensive dishes offered in Long Beach. I have most of the meals on their menu. They have the best shrimp ceviche and their steak is truly amazing. My favorite is their Baleadas. Fresh house made flour tortilla they are so soft and flavorful with beans cheese and cream you can add many other things to it but the regular one will blow your mind of how delicious it is! It's ok... you can go in! This is one of those Central American restaurants (Honduran to be exact) that most people other than Central Americans seem to be afraid to try. I've been getting lunch here to-go many times this year and always satisfied. You REALLY get your money's worth. For $8, you can have a large foam container filled to the brim with whatever they have behind the glass. My favorite is Chicken Francais. The beef stew and roasted chicken are great too. They have vegetables, white and yellow rice, fish. seasoned roasted potatoes, salad, beans. I have also had dinner here as well. Broiled fish was very good. I also had chicken quesadillas which were delicious. They make fresh fruit drinks... guanabana, passionfruit, etc. The people working there are friendly and smile. Been wanting to try Patio for the past several years, but the first few times I stepped inside, they didn't seem overly welcoming. WHAT A CHANGE. Have picked up food a bunch of times this summer and I could not have been more wrong. Sat evening I called in four dinners, some with menu modifications. All came out perfectly! Chicken Parilla, chicken & shrimp, salmon over salad, pasta primavera, fried pork chops, pupusas are all highly recommend. The food is inexpensive and plentiful. Food was great but the service was crap. I entered the restaurant and the employees were sitting down staring at me like I had 5 heads. No greeting nothing, just stares. I didn't see anyone behind the counter, I thought the employees were customers. I was confused. Finally one of the employees got up, went behind the counter and handed me my order. Absolutely delicious. Came in after a long day at the beach. Many options on the menu to choose from . We opted for chicken tacos, a pupusa and chicken/shrimp fajita dish. Everything was delicious. Authentic, simple and satisfying. The chicken tacos however were absolutely the best chicken tacos I have ever had. Definitely give it a try and learn about Honduran culture via your taste buds. The portions are huge & the food is packed with flavor. However, my friend and I "tried" to explain to the waitress that the cheese they were using on some of the dishes was spoiled. The waitress nodded and say ok and then came back with another dish that had the same cheese on it....umm not ok. The drinks are overpriced so that was a bit shocking knowing that there's dozens of happy hours & other restaurants around I would think they would be a bit like those. Everybody who works here makes you feel super welcome like you are a regular there. The food for the price it is, is just fantastic. Even more expensive it would be good it's just good food overall but it's a great place to just go with some friends and have a beer and a whole meal for 15 bucks. Completely mistreated by staff. Making charges on my card for a bag that I wasn't given, or asked for I was just charged extra and when I asked she told me it wasn't a big deal my total was only 8 something. I told her that is not that point and a very rude response to give customer. I later called to ask to speak to manager and she hung up on me 5 times and told sucked her teeth at me telling me manager isn't there. I walked in again in person bc I felt disrespected and she rolled her eyes so I spoke to manager and I feel he didn't really care he just was gonna give me some cash from his pocket but this is not customer service. I am a manger and been one for years and this isn't how you treat people. I didn't care about the money back, I just wanted him to speak to her bc the way I was treated me not acceptable. She's lucky I didn't cause a scene !!! Horrible service!!! To Spanish lady's with black hair horrible service !!! Managers name Jose, just don't waste your money here. Food was nasty. Told all my coworkers about this place and they will never shop here and told their family and friends that live in area. Real authentic Honduran food! from the mantequilla to the baleadas to the chismol. My only complaint was that the plantanos weren't very sweet nor were they crisp like I like them. Come here for a yummy baleada with honduran queso & creamy beans. So delicious! read more
