Always a great meal, one breakfast and one lunch, both amazing! Best pancakes around, light and fluffy. Nobody makes a better pattymelt!! Rare meat and well done bread just like I ordered. We'll be back many times!

    3 Alarm Fries
    Irene C.

Came on a Wednesday at peak dinner time so it was super packed. The interior is cute and is your typical retro diner, but I was majorly disappointed by the food. Starting with the 3 alarm fries, the cheese was barely melted (don't be fooled by the ranch dressing on top) so it was basically just ranch fries mixed with slices of american cheese and jalapeños. Not that crispy and rather meh. The spaghetti and meatballs was just mildly flavored tomato sauce with what felt like reheated frozen meatballs. We ordered 2 all-american burgers and a "The Duke" burger - all 3 weren't really cooked to the right degree. Mine was meant to be medium rare and was slightly medium rare in some parts but mostly was more medium, and the ones meant to be medium were mostly medium well. The All American is your typical burger on paper but it's rather dry and also very mediocre. Honestly, nothing tasted particularly good or flavorful so giving it a 2/5 and I wouldn't recommend :(

    Cookies & Cream milkshake
    Carina H.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The waitress offered sauces, checked in with us, and was helpful in helping us decide on our orders. The diner was bright with lots of windows. Starting off, the Soup du Jour (Chicken Noodle Soup) was hot and made me feel nostalgic. The Seafood Platter had huge portions of creamed spinach, sweet potato fries, and fried fish. It was my first time trying fried scallops, but it was amazing. All the fried seafood had a good crisp. The Cookies and Cream milkshake with additional thickness came with an extra cup of milkshake to the side, which was so nice. Dipping the sweet potato fries in the milkshake made them taste almost like funnel cake.

I ordered the Sunset Santorini salad it was so perfect The combination of the feta walnuts and fig glaze is so delicious on its own. It didn't need the grilled chicken on it.

Arugula Salad with Salmon - 09/01/2024

This is a 5 star diner! Impeccably clean with updated seating. They sell candy in the front which is cute and nostalgic- I ended up buying two individual york peppermint patties my daughter's favorite for a quarter each. Me and my husband both had salads which were so fresh and delicious and huge! I feel embarrassed that I ate all of mine! Service was on point and friendly. You can't go wrong coming here - this is the second time I came to this diner based on my first experience. This time was better than before. I had an arugula salad with salmon and the salmon was cooked perfectly crunchy on the outside and drizzled with my favorite balsamic vinegar. The slivered almonds mixed with the arugula made it heaven. Who says eating healthy can't be delicious! My husband's cobb salad with blue cheese looked delicious his chicken was cooked well and not dry. Keep up the good work Laurel Diner you have a fan! I will be coming to visit everytime I visit lovely Long Beach!

    Nutella French
    Irina D.

We ended up at the Laurel Diner for a very quick breakfast bite after watching the sunrise on the Long Beach boardwalk. We walked in and got seated immediately, though it was (an albeit) early Sunday morning (just about 8am). I had the Nutella French which was HUGE, but very delicious. Not sure what bread they use for this particular French toast, but I think it was challah bread. I couldn't finish the whole thing, and the Nutella (of course) just hit the spot with its delicious hazelnutty decadence. Hubby had some perfectly crispy Belgian waffles. The coffee was great too. Good and quick service. The only expected and dreadful downfall of any dining these days is really the price for me - an almost $50 bill (with tax and tip included) for 2 breakfasts and coffee is outrageous. But worth it overall and would return, for sure!!

They were packed so they seated us at the last 2 seats left at the bar near the host stand. There was an acoustic singer and guitar player adding to the energetic ambience. We were handed the place mats and menus upon seating. Then it took about 15 min to order a drink. Then another 25 min before we could place our food order. The female bartender was attentive to all the parties around us, and people who came in after us seemed to be a priority. The barback finally noticed us and helped us while he was also busting out drinks. He noticed we were trying to get her attention so he stepped in kindly and took our order. We ordered the Grilled Artichokes, the Burger, and Chicken Carbonara. (Wanted the Bolognese but someone had just ordered the last one by 8pm?!) She never checked in for a second round, so we didn't bother after about 20 min we gave up. The Artichokes came out about 20 min after ordering. They plopped them in front of us, no utensils or napkins. I had to ask the barback for some. The busser seemed disgruntled a said they only had forks. Had to flag someone else for napkins, and they brought us a pile of c-fold paper towels, when they usually have cloth napkins as we noticed with patrons who came in after us. My sis-in-law and I wolf down the 4 pieces of artichokes, using our fork and hands to cut into pieces (no knife). Then another 30 min before our mains come out. Couldn't even ask anyone for a food status update, so just tried to enjoy the live music and each other's company to distract from hunger pangs. The burger and carbonara finally show and looks great. The portions were generous. Fries were a little blonde and just underdone but seasoned enough. The carbonara was delicious as well, nice and al dente. We enjoyed our food and chatted. Music was on the louder side but for a Friday night at 8ish pm, that is not uncalled for. The restaurant started to end their rush and the bar emptied out a tad, but the service did not improve. Asked for the bill and to-go containers as soon as I could flag someone bc I knew it would take awhile to get them. Of course when getting the bill things progressed speedily, so we paid and tried to get out as soon as we were done. The staff there was hot and cold. Barback was helpful and everyone else seemed "annoyed" to have to help us with simple requests that shouldn't have to be requested to begin with. Again I understand rushes happen and staff can become overwhelmed. The bar team had to service the bar and some high tops nearby plus make drinks for the rest of the restaurant, so I understand the volume was high, but again the management team should plan accordingly to make sure the diners do not have to feel the lag in the service. Food was good but left a little disappointed from the service.

My first impression was just how big it is! There are multiple levels of seating and a large bar, giving it a lively atmosphere. I was honestly surprised to see how busy it was on a weekday morning, but that only got me more excited, it usually means a place has built a loyal following for a good reason. With only two stomachs to work with, we wanted to try as much as possible. We ordered eggs over medium with bacon, home fries, and toast, a short stack of pancakes with sausage, and biscuits and gravy. I'll just say it, this place knows how to make breakfast. Everything we ordered was done really well, and I honestly don't have many notes. The biscuits and gravy were excellent. The gravy was rich and flavorful, and the biscuit was soft, buttery, and the perfect pairing. I'm not usually a pancake person, but these were fantastic. Add some real maple syrup and a bite of sausage, and it was the perfect combination. I also can't finish this review without mentioning the Bloody Marys. If you're a Bloody Mary fan, these are elite. Seriously, one of the best I've had. We'll definitely be back.

So glad we got reservations on a Sunday evening for 2. It got packed pretty fast …read more We sat our server was pretty good . We placed the order. Eveything came out in normal time manor. But out short rib ravioli came out all cold inside and out. We cut into Half of one and had to tell the server that it's cold . Then it was brought out steaming hot all great everything tasted good as well. When we got to the end of our ravioli the last piece was the one we cut into and still there . So I asked my server what do you think they did with our order. He said ofcourse they Cooked up a fresh batch!! I told him well they didn't . He looked shocked and said he told them To make a new order . He was nice enough to take them off the bill as well. But still make you wonder what they do in the back if they don't listen to their wait staff and didn't do something as simple as this or even trash the one ravioli and make one new one. The burgers were great, the Philly egg rolls were mushed up meat in an egg roll wrap . But definitely won't come back here after having this place bookmarked for like 4-5 years and finally made it but won't come back here again. Way too many good ones to try .
