Brix and Barley has always been a favorite when we are in the area whether it's for the live music or a game the bright atmosphere is always welcoming. On Saturday, My wife and I stopped in for a quick dinner and sat at the bar and met Jenny the bartender. Jenny was one of the nicest staff members that we've ever had. She had a great sense of humor and served delicious drinks , especially the spicy margarita which was " made with love " which was to my wife's liking. Usually I order the pizza but this time I ordered the All American Burger which consisted of LTO, secret sauce, pickles, double patty smash style, brioche bun and french fries and it was delicious and it hit the spot. So reserved my bar seat asked for one in front of the tv and thanks to DANA I literally got th e best seat in the house of all the bar seats. THANK YOU!! The vibe of the place is great and this is my second time there. Service always seems to be great. I had a few drinks good size for the price. I got the Birria tacos, looked very good but lacked flavor for sure even after dipping it into the broth. The all America burger was amazing great huge burger flavor and cook. The fries are like five guy fries not the biggest fan I prefer crispy and coated fries. And the mussels were really good along with the grilled toasts they serve with. Today I had lunch with a neighbor and her cute toddler. The staff were so chill about him running and walking around. It was rather sparse for lunch (bar was full though hahah) but we took a long time to figure out what to eat. The menu is so extensive and we finally put in our orders. I ended up with this chicken burrata skillet and it was just so filling. The pepperoni pizza slice was full of pepperoni and the classic burger looked amazing too. I feel another visit is needed to try their two smash burgers. All in all, it was both a family friendly spot with spacious seating and super friendly and amazing staff. I thoroughly enjoyed the Detroit style meat lovers which in an inspired twist included short rib in addition to pepperoni and bacon. We crushed their fried calamari appetizer along with the onion ring tower and Bavarian pretzel both of which came with a delicious Guinness beer cheese. Our first time at this restaurant and immediately we sat down at a table and checked out the menu. We came to get pizza so that is what we ordered. I ordered a glass of wine, my friend ordered a lemonade, Mac and cheese as n appetizer and then we decided to order a prosciutto pizza. One thing that I did not like was the waiter making a comment about my wanting to take a minute more or two to look at the menu being that it was our first time and we were discussing what we were going to get. Instead of 2 minutes it took him 10 minutes to come back to the table because he was it seemed to be the only waiter working 10 tables at a time at the end of the night. The comment he made when he arrived back to our table 10 minutes later was like "oh yeah many girls are indecisive and he said something extra " anyways. We laughed it off and continued on with our night. We ordered the prosciutto pizza but I didnt know that prosciutto wasnt going to be cooked and there was vinegarette on top of the pizza that was not stated on the menu. I politely asked hey can you cook the prosciutto to make it crispy and take off the vinegarette. He said that they will remake the pizza. When we recieved the pizza the second time, it was NOT REMADE!. it was as if they took off alll the toppings which was the arugula, vinegarette, prosciutto, mozzarella cheese. Put the actual pizza which was only bread and cheese back in the oven and took it out. They gave us a dry, cardboard, cold, pizza. It was disgusting ! Worst pizza I have ever had in my life plus we still tasted the vinegarette on the pizza so that right there just revealed to us that the pizza was not remade. I say all this to say. It wasn't a great experience. I looked forward to eating a good pizza even if it wasnt great but it wasnt even okay. It was bad! Highly upset! We had cardboard pizza. I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was too disappointing to ignore. From the moment we walked in, the service felt disorganized and inattentive. We waited far too long for our food (an hour or so) and it didn't improve much after that. The food was underwhelming at best. Dishes came out lukewarm, and what should have been simple, flavorful meals tasted bland and greasy. To make matters worse, it was extremely loud that we could not even talk to one another. There was a 2 man band that were way too loud! There just seemed to be no urgency from the staff to fix anything. The manager came over to ask if everything is ok since he must of felt our vibes. After a fun beach day with friends, we decided to hit up a local spot they recommended for dinner. It's your classic sports bar, so it was pretty loud, but I didn't mind it. They also have outdoor seating as well. We walked in without a reservation and got seated right away, but I'd suggest making one as it got really busy later in the evening! To drink, I went with an Aperol Spritz, which was spot on and was made perfectly. We shared the boneless wings in kickin' bourbon flavor, and they were absolutely delicious! The Bavarian pretzel was another hit--perfectly buttery with a really good cheese sauce on the side. For my entree, I went with the chicken burrata skillet, and wowww! It came out piping hot, which was great because lukewarm food is such a letdown. The portions were huge, and it was so good that even the leftovers were amazing the next day. Headline here is amazing food and service at a great value, child friendly ambience while still suitable for adult events. The service was a tad bit slower than I expected, but considering the stellar food and the actual quality of the service itself, I really can't be annoyed by this caveat for it to impact my score of the restaurant. The portions were sizable, enough so that my girlfriend and I had left overs. We got the bacon slabs, French toast burger, and carnitas waffle, an espresso, as well as two complimentary drinks (we'd come for the brunch menu, but since we were very close to the cutoff, we couldn't do bottomless; the waiter apologized for the policy and offered each of us a complementary brunch cocktail to make up for this). At first I wasn't too sure because it took a minute for us to be acknowledged and seated but the manager noticed and came over himself and sat us down. From there, our waiter Malissa (I believe) was sooooo energetic, engaging and helpful. She gave us great recommendations and the food was amazing. Sauce and pasta were flavorless and the chicken cutlet was so unimpressive. It was not dry so that was a plus. The winner of the whole order was the honey glazed Brussels sprouts.
