Though the restaurant has been here awhile, we hadn't been in. On a dreary weekday evening we finally came in for dinner. The dining room is very vibrant and colorful. We got service at a high top table right away. We were served chips & salsa(s) and ordered a couple cocktails. The margaritas were fantastic. For dinner we got a couple different tacos and the chicken tinga burrito, both very good. I like this place. With good service & thoughtfully cooked food you cannot ask for more. We stopped in for a quick lunch. The decor is vibrant, trendy, and comfortable. Our service was prompt, friendly, and quick. The food was mediocre. We started with the chips and salsa. The yellow salsa was a pineapple base, then your basic red and green. Chips were fresh and crisp. My husband ordered three tacos: brisket taco, steak taco and a babacoa taco. I ordered a steak taco and a side of black beans. The tortillas are home made corn, they were light and of good texture. The tacos were all lacking in flavor and a lacking in meat. I found out about El Pato Loco through a friend. After reading reviews I was really excited to try it out. My husband and I are always looking for Mexican restaurants. We decided to come here on a Sunday night. It was pretty empty, but it was a Sunday. We parked in the back and came up the back stairs. We were a little confused as to if we needed to find someone to seat us or if we just sat ourselves. We walked inside to find no hostess area and asked someone what to do. They said to seat ourselves. We sat outside as it was a beautiful evening. We sat for some time before someone came to give us water (no menus though) they came back a bit later with menus. It seemed that a bus girl was doing all of this. She then came and brought us chips and salsa. The pineapple habanero was so good! She told us our server would be out shortly. Our server did not come so the bus girl came back and took our drink order. We order d traditional margaritas. They were pretty good. Finally our waitress came over but seemed confused. I ordered 2 shrimp tacos because people in the reviews said they were "the best" and really good. My husband had an al pastor and a carnita tacos. Food came and we had to ask for napkins and utensils. My shrimp tacos were just ok. Very little sauce and lots of jalapeños. My husband said his were just ok. Took forever for someone to come get our check. It was $50 for 4 tacos and 2 margaritas. There's also a 3% sur charge *big eye roll* just raise your prices. It's honestly more annoying to see a sur charge on a bill, especially when the service is not great and the food is mediocre. We decided there are other places that are much better so we won't be back. Such a bummer and I honestly don't know how this place has a 4 star rating. read more

First Time at El Pato Loco - Won't Be the Last! Tried El Pato Loco for the first time and had an awesome experience! The place has a fun, energetic vibe. From the playful branding to the colorful decor, it just puts you in a good mood. The food? Legit. Flavor-packed, fresh, and portions that don't play around. I had the duck tacos and they absolutely hit the spot. You can tell they care about what they're serving. Staff was friendly and quick, and everything felt super laid-back but efficient. We came here for dinner on our date night with the hubby. The interior is super cute and it has a nice cozy feel to it. The drinks were tasty- I tried their seasonal margarita and it was delicious! The food for me was just okay- my plate was dirty and instead of swapping it the dude just rubbed it off so needless to say I didn't use it. The bartender was friendly and attentive. The restaurant was very spacious and modern. Only one womens washroom. My husband and I ordered 2 tacos each. He had carne Asada, I had 1 shrimp and 1 chicken taco. That night the stomach cramping started and was in the bathroom back and forth for 8 hours. Then by 9am that morning 2 more hours of bathroom bouts. I called the restaurant and told them how SICK I was. The lady said " oh, ok, sorry " She the manager didn't care. The shrimp was BAD! Don't eat there unless you eat at your own risk. Very upsetting. We just had a late lunch, and this is the 4th time we have been here. We tried to give this place another chance but every time it seems to get worse. I love local businesses and give them my support. I ordered a steak burrito, which had been great the first time I went, But today they tried to pass a steak burrito with beef stew meat. I told the waiter that this was not steak so he got the manager who was also the bartender and she insisted it was steak. She said it was like that because we let it stew in the pot. I guess the manager does not know the menu or the difference. The waiter then asked her how her search was going on indeed. Never coming back! The ambiance is an absolute TEN. What a cute space and amazing artwork! What was less amazing was the food and service. We started with the queso patito and we found the cheese to be grainy and the texture felt off. The chips were underwhelming and needed more salt. The salsas and guac had way too much lime for our tastes. The five of us adults also ordered tacos and burritos. There was a large bone in the duck tacos that my mom had. We pointed it out to the waiter and he made a joke about it being like a wishbone, but didn't attempt to make it right in any way. My dad had a taco with a large fat piece in it that was inedible and looked like a small shrimp. How is it possible to miss these things that are going into the food? The drinks were heavy ice, cute cups, not much to it. Fairly expensive for such a small portion. The burrito was small for the price and more rice than my husband would like. We might try it again in time when they've worked out the kinks, but it won't be any time soon. read more

probably need to sharpen a few things up bc they are new, but this place def has room for improvement. The decor is great, as everyone commented. The food was tasty. We had shrimp tacos ( i would get these again) and the duck tacos ( not bad, but a little bit dry). tacos need just a little bit more meat, they were lacking. Drinks need to be a little bit cheaper if they arent going to put them in a big glass. I feel like they were over priced for the size of the drink. Two people, two drinks each, two tacos each and a desert, around $100. Will be back for drink and shrimp tacos and will give this place a chance to improve. read more

Ok... let's dive in. Atmosphere- 5/5. Soft but noticeable mariachi music in the background. A nice bar and very cozy seating. A nice patio for the summer months. Service- 5/5. The bartenders and servers are friendly and attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu. Do not ignore their recommendations. Food- Let's face it, good atmosphere and service is useless if the food isn't good. Luckily, this food is GREAT. I had three different tacos. The carne asada is tender and packed with flavor. The Al pastor is... transcendent. And the shrimp taco rivals anything I've had on the West Coast. The salsa variety pack is exceptional. I would have taken pictures but I ate it all. Drinks: 6 words. I was so excited they were coming to town. I am sorry but when I see the grill that is extremely dirty, old and reused looking. The cook was grabbing raw meat, with his bare hands, did not wash his hands and then touched everything in the kitchen. I couldn't eat here, we had to walk out with disgust and would not be back. We were seated promptly as a group of 5 and placed our drink orders, but it took about 30 minutes just to get our drinks. Once seated we waited 40 minutes to place our food order, followed by an additional 30 minutes for the food to arrive. The portions were quite small, especially for the steak fajitas--a few more pieces and tortillas would have made a big difference. Overall, the service was slow, and the value didn't match the price. Food 9/10. I got the steak burrito and it was very good. Chips were light and fresh. The pineapple habanero salsa was my favorite. Wasn't a fan of the salsa roja which lacked flavor. Everyone liked their tacos. Drinks were very good as well. The decor is very cute. Service was good, we were checked on frequently and didn't wait long for drinks or food. The only recommendation I have is they need to reassess the entrances/welcome area. There is no hostess stand, and both entrances are awkward upon arrival. There is really nowhere to wait, besides awkwardly standing next to tables/in the middle of the restaurant. I'm sure it's one of the kinks of being new, and they'll figure it out. Andrew was amazing. The food was incredible, service was great, the atmosphere was warm, happy, festive, and saw a lot of locals. Friends... Get here soon! The prices are FANTASTIC! There's only one huge problem... Huge... The name on the building is what they specialize in and not the actual name of the restaurant. The big bold signage says "taco Tequila" but their name is EL Pato LoCo. Attention Owners: eather consider changing the name on the building or changing the name of the restaurant. This is an amazing place to dine at. You're not doing yourself any favors by advertising the wrong verbage!
