Highly recommend this place. Their steaks and chops are phenomenal. Had the lamb with Israeli Risotto: absolutely phenomenal. Wife had the Dover Sole. Absolutely amazing, and they debone right at your table. Also had the crab pasta and had a good taste of our friends market Wagyu steak. It was like butter. Keep in mind. This is not going to be cheap though. If you're gonna go to this place, expect not only excellent service but not your McDonald's prices. Saw a couple of the next table come in and order a hamburger and fries. Seriously? You come to this place for a burger and fries? (Lol). I'm sure the burger and fries was excellent, but this place is not known to be a burger joint, even though it's on the menu but again, to each his or her own. I wouldn't come here just to have a burger. There are many other places that do that. Step it up a little. Come here for a higher tier of food caliber. That being said: Our server was excellent. The manager along with the chef / the wine "professor"- (he was excellent as well- extremely knowledgeable, and paired our bottle of wine perfectly with all our meals) along with everyone else who came by to check on us. But our server was absolutely attentive and great. He wasn't pushy and he was very easy-going but very astute and had all the attention to detail. So hopefully we made his night when we came to the tip. (we weren't slouches, nope.). I wish I remembered his name, it wasn't a typical name, but he was outstanding. That being said, make sure that you pack away a couple "bones" when you see the check- also make sure that you tip your waiter for the outstanding job that they do. So don't skimp on that either. So again: It isn't cheap, but a place like this shouldn't be. We had a great experience overall- Also, this isn't your T-shirt and shorts type of place. You have to dress up. No schleps.. Capeesh?!!? leave your sandals at home. Which it should be. This is an experience, not your local In-N-Out Burger joint. Went here for my birthday dinner and I'm so glad we did. First off the restaurant is beautiful inside perfect for a date night, anniversary, or special occasion. For drinks my wife got the a pineapple cocktail similar to a. Malibu pineapple that must be new because it's not on the online menu. And I ordered the Cucumber margarita, both were very good and my wife loved hers. We ended not getting appetizers but will next time. For dinner, my wife chose the Wagyu Double Smash burger, it was very good, but we did feel it was missing some peppers or something spicy on it. I went with the 15oz Altair Grass Fed Wagyu Ribeye, cooked perfectly and the meat was very tender. I actually asked for an enhancement not shown on their menu, which was a bleu cheese crust and it was amazing, I highly recommended getting steaks here it was a 10/10. Our server was also so attentive and amazing, he actually brought out a huge slice of cake for us to share and had enough to take home. We've been to The Greggory at least five to six times since their opening and have left impressed every time. We keep bringing friends to try out the restaurant. We tell all our city friends who join us, this restaurant is the closest you'll get to City food quality, ambiance, and quality of service. It's become our go to when we want a nice dinner. We haven't ordered anything on the menu we didn't like, but we always order the mini Reuben sandwich's, popover rolls, and mini pigs n a blanket every visit! We're equally impressed by the level of service, it's on par with many of the top level steak restaurant in the city. Awesome dining experience tonight. Opted for a high top table in the bar. Good move. Very comfortable and front row view for TVs and people watching. The staff were all amazing. Friendly and informative. Our server (whose name I forgot. Sorry!) was on her game. Being first timers, I always like to give the server an opportunity to elaborate on the menu. She did a great job of highlighting some of the items and made a few suggestions, but not overly pushy. We had the grass fed wagyu ribeye and the French dip. Both were exceptional in flavor. Cooked to perfection. The Kumamoto oysters were equally delicious. Tender, succulent and mild in taste. To top it off our server provided a couple of extra treats that were really appetizing. I very much enjoyed my dinner last night at The Greggory. Because I was dining solo, I was relegated to the bar area, but I certainly wasn't shorted on service. It is a good looking facility for sure, inside and out. My prime rib was cooked exactly as I ordered it. Their homemade twist on horseradish sauce was unique and tasty. I also went with the Truffle Double Baked Potato and the creamed spinach. The servers were what set this place apart for me. I saw a tik tok influencer-Jovann post about this place and bookmarked them from his experience. I then asked a friend, who advised me, that she had been a few times and the food, service, & drinks were good! And to look for a bartender named Dani, she was good. We dropped in on a Sunday afternoon about 4pm, dressed in jogging suits and no resy, they graciously offered to set us in the bar seating/high top table area. The restaurant is cute and swanky, so I was worried our attire would be frowned upon, if it was, they didn't show it. Star for that! We were seated with Ariana-5 Stars!!!! She was so helpful and polite. She went out of her way to make our visit special, she was engaged throughout the entire visit and I will definitely return/refer due to service alone. Everyone we encountered here was pleasant. On to the food. We ordered two 24oz bone-in ribeyes. 1 medium rare plus, 1 medium well. Both were prepared well. The bone marrow mash was delicious! I have been to the Greggory several times now. Both the ambiance in bar area and restaurant area are both very nicely decorated. The bar area is definitely very lively, especially towards the end of the evening. There are various craft cocktails that are delicious. The pores are on the dainty side though. The steak frites were excellent and highly recommended. The vodka pasta is very good, but if you don't like spicy, ask them to taper the spice. The waitresses and bartenders are usually very attentive. Some more than others. This is a great date place but also a great place for a girls night out, but it's very expensive. For appetizers, we tried the wagyu pigs in a blanket (a fun twist on a classic app) along with the focaccia and popover rolls. At one point, we saw another table receive an impressively large slice of white chocolate mousse cake, so we decided to order the same dessert to share. Ours turned out to be a standard-sized slice - still good, just not quite the showstopper we were expecting based on what we'd seen. Both the breads popover rolls and focaccia - were too hard and too oily and not fresh. We order french omelette with herbs. It was ok not so great. Funniest was - it said tower of 4 large pancakes. - we were curious how large are pancakes - apparently when they came, they were size of tortillas. The Greggory certainly has the look and ambience to fit in the Arboretum. With its black exterior, it sits in contrast to The Hampton Social next door. The Greggory certainly is not a place to go if you're looking for cheap eats. But if you are looking for a chic restaurant to check out for a special occasion or a place to meet up with friends, I think this is the place for you. I came here with my family for my father's birthday to try out their brunch menu. We got a variety of items to share including the steak and eggs, pancake tower, and Beef Wellington. The food was good but it didn't blow me away. The pancakes were like any other pancakes, only unique due to the variety of different toppings that you can put on top. My dad tried the steak and eggs and was not particularly impressed with the steak, especially given the high ratings that the steak here had gotten. The beef Wellington was good, as it had a lot of flavor and the meat itself was soft. Though, I think there may have been too much of a mushroom taste compared to other beef Wellingtons that I have had. Since it was my father's birthday, they did give us a complementary large piece of cake with raspberry drizzle and a big sparkler on top. This must be the place for birthdays because so many tables got the same cake while we were there. The piece of cake was large enough to feed all four of us at the table and still have leftovers to bring home. It was very generous and kind of the restaurant to provide that to us. Went here on a Monday night with the girls and honestly had such a nice dinner. The vibe is definitely giving suburban date night spot, but it also works really well for a girls dinner. One thing I really appreciated was that our waiter was super helpful about the menu. If you eat halal, definitely ask questions because not everything here is halal. I was told the Australian Wagyu was halal, but the other wagyu options were American and not halal. Also worth noting that some items are fried in beef tallow (I remember the fries were), so definitely double check depending on your dietary preferences. For starters, we got the focaccia bread and the beet salad. The beet salad had a stronger flavor but was still really good. For my entrée, I got the Wagyu steak and really enjoyed it. My friends got the vodka pasta, which looked really good too. For drinks, I had the zero-proof margarita. I was expecting it to be sweeter, but it leaned more salty. My friend got the passionfruit mocktail, and that one was definitely sweeter and honestly the better pick if you want something fruity. Love that they were able to adjust drinks and make them non-alcoholic. Dessert was probably my favorite part. We got the chocolate mousse cake, and it was SO good. Super light, fluffy, moist, and not overly heavy at all. Service was great, and the area felt really safe. They have valet and also parking right in front, which made it super easy. My only tiny complaint was with the leftovers. The cake originally came with a raspberry sauce on the side, and when they packed it up for us, they drizzled it all over the leftover cake. I personally don't like raspberry sauce, so I was lowkey sad about that lol. Other than that, I'd definitely come back. This is the first time that I've been to the Greggory I have been here a few times after as well. The first time that I was there, I was with my friend celebrating her birthday for brunch, and our waiter was kind of bro-ish and we didn't really enjoy him, but the food made up for that experience. I decided to come back a second time to see if that was the vibe for each of the waiters and it wasn't. They were very pleasant very knowledgeable and didn't say inappropriate things to us. The ambience was awesome if I could design my house to look like that, I would love it. It kind of reminds me of a cigar room. the food for brunch, and the food for dinner was exceptional. If I were to recommend one dish specifically, it would be the octopus I ordered that all three times and I dream about it because it was some of the best I've ever had. This is probably one of the better restaurants in the suburbs outside of the city so if you're willing to travel a little bit to the west suburbs, I highly recommend checking it out plus it is around a lot of things stores shops entertainment, so it wouldn't just be a one and done you can go to a movie and then have dinner just to make it worthwhile. read more

What a great experience! The food and service were amazing. To start we ordered the Tomato Rosemary Focaccia. It comes with olive oil, and whipped ricotta, balsamic essenza. The bread was fresh, warm and so soft! Was a great start. My entree i ordered something I had never had before. The Wild Dover Sole with a side of asparagus. When the Dover Sole comes out from the kitchen it's met by your server who then debones the entire fish table side. It's a nice little show. Now the fish itself! AMAZING! So light and flavorful. It's served with brown butter and shaved marcona almonds. The asparagus comes with a romesco sauce which makes it the perfect partner for the fish. Came here last weekend with my fiancé for her birthday and we had an amazing time. Our waitress was so nice and gave us a great rundown of the menu as it was our first time eating here. We ended up getting bread and two apps to start off to share. Couldn't have asked for a better way to start off our meals. Everything was great and a ton of good to share between us. I've dined here twice now. The first time I had the Gruyère popover, Spanish octopus, lobster rolls, bone marrow, ribeye, and cauliflower. The Spanish octopus is what made us come back. The squid ink fideuà paired with the grilled octopus is perfection. It's my first time have fideuà pasta/noodle. Octopus was grilled perfectly and not over cooked. The popover was pretty good too. We also liked the lobster rolls a lot too. The bone marrow is fancy, but it was too much for me. The tartare on top kind of throw me off. Flavor wise, it was delicious. I'm not a fan of the texture. The bone in ribeye steak I had was whatever, I've had better steaks. When we came back the second time, I had ordered the Caesar salad. It had full anchovies on it, which you don't really see at most places. I really liked that. We also got the bone marrow potato purée, smoothest mash potato ever. So good with the bone marrow in it because it gave it that extra richness. We also ordered the prime rib and risotto, but we had to cut dinner short because my son was not feeling well. We started with the Mini Lobster Rolls and the corned beef bites -- both were packed with flavor and absolutely delicious. For entrées, our table ordered the 7-Year Aged Mushroom Risotto, Bucatini Cacio e Pepe, and the Slagel Farms Roasted Half Chicken. The house-made pasta was amazing (you can taste the difference), and the chicken was tender and juicy. I ordered from the Restaurant Week menu: chickpea hummus, wood fire charred sea bream, and the spumoni baked Alaska for dessert (spumoni gelato, flourless chocolate cake, and meringue). Everything was cooked perfectly and beautifully presented. The baked Alaska was such a fun and delicious way to end the meal. Went here for the first time and I really enjoyed our visit! The atmosphere is beautiful, yet on a Friday night it was PACKED. The bar area gave me anxiety because it was packed shoulder to shoulder; I felt like I was in everyone's way, so I waited in the lobby for our table. We had a reservation at 6:45 and got seated at 7:05p. A bit disappointed we had to wait, but it was very busy. These are the reasons I gave this place 4 stars. Our waiter was fantastic! He was informative, knew the food well, and the service was just very attentive. Our food came out incredibly fast. The drinks were delicious and a full glass which I appreciate for $16-25/drink. The food was delicious - very fresh and prepared well. My chicken was incredibly tender and flavorful. Nothing felt salty, just well balanced flavors, albeit simple but done well. We're not generally in this area, but had an event near the Gregory tonight and thought about trying a new place. Online reviews looked really good for it so I was excited to check it out. I think I was pleasantly more surprised than I expected to be with this place. First of all the restaurant is huge, and a really beautiful aesthetic. It's clean and dark with gold lettering on the outside. The inside has this lovely high class feel to it, large rooms, clean lines, and comfortable furniture. Aesthetically for me it's a 10 out of 10. The service was exceptional. It's one of those places where you could tell that good service is not just an afterthought but a focal point. For my dinner, I was very excited to try their wedge salad and one of the appetizers. I got the corn beef plates and they were very tasty and delightful. However, the real star for me was that wedge salad. It was a well executed wedge, with an exceptional piece of pork belly that just kicked it over the top for me. I do mildly regret my decision not to eat a steak instead, but it will give me a reason to come back and see how they can cook a fine piece of meat. Do not miss this place. read more

The ambiance makes you feel like you're in a classic, fancy steakhouse, but the menu gives you total freedom. NYE Review! I have long been anticipating The Greggory's opening in the South Barrington Arboretum Center and it did not disappoint. Every aspect of this restaurant feels upscale from the interior design, wine cellar, featured central hearth, and menu offerings. Their food menu has a great variety of seafood, meat cuts, pastas, and elevated appetizers. For drinks, they offer great cocktail options but have a full bar with experienced bartenders to make a requested drink. Even their wine menu was organized well by type and region and had great vineyards listed. My husband and I visited for New Year's Eve so their menu was adjusted slightly and had some curated specials not normally offered. For drinks, we started with the Gregg's Way Old Fashioned & Pear Martini. Their menu has an Old Fashioned section offering 5 variations. The Gregg's Way is more of a traditional fixing and was well balanced. My Pear Martini was bright, balanced, and slightly tart. I really enjoyed it overall as it wasn't too spirit forward tasting. I later also ordered a Vesper Martini which was more gin forward but flavorful. For food, we started with the Waygu Beef Tartare & Bone Marrow Appetizer which was served with grilled sourdough. This tasted as good as it looked. The bread paired nicely and was a great portion for 2-4 people. For entrees, I got the Bucatini Cacio e Pepe. The noodles were cooked al dente, was cheese and olive oil forward, and had great flavor. One could get 4oz of truffle shavings on top for an additional $30. My husband got the Rotisserie Roasted Prime Rib which comes with an Au Jus & Creamy Horseradish sauce. The meat was perfectly cooked as requested and had minimal fatty spots. Our server, Angelica, took amazing care of us and went above & beyond to ensure we had a great experience. She thoroughly explained the menu and specials, made great recommendations, and checked in on us an appropriate amount. Overall, this was an amazing dining experience that I would certainly revisit. I got the opportunity to try this business with the fam back around the holidays. I was definitely impressed with the experience. Our waiter was welcoming and great about showing us around the menu. To start, we got these Gruyere popover rolls . They melt in your mouth and are a great light starter. I got the Caesar salad , which was done quite nicely. It was fresh and came with all the right trimmings. My entree was the Filet Mignon. The meat was cooked perfectly, and the Bordelaise sauce somehow managed to make even better. So good than even my mom had to try a bite. Their fries have to be the biggest and thickest I've ever seen. Certainly not what I expected from a place like this, but I digress. The garlic aioli that came along for the ride was yummy as well. Dessert was the standout for me though, as we tried the huge slice of white chocolate mousse cake, complete with raspberry drizzle. Opted for the trio of filet mignon sliders served on a 4x4 wood block, medium-rare with a light truffle butter. My bartender suggested the horseradish side sauce, an unctuous fresh grated house preparation--fresh is milder than you might think-- appearing like coconut on top of cream. Unique to the Greggory, says the barkeep. Beautiful and complementary. Paired this with the Chateau Saint-André Corbin, a Bordeaux Red Blend from St. Emilion, Bordeaux-France. So good I could "drink this all day," I tell the bartender, who proclaims that it is his favorite." Piping up, he offers to bring me a bottle and a straw. I tell him that a French Bordeaux requires a bit more decorum. All in all a great experience for my first time at The Greggory. Yesterday we had one of the most amazing experiences to celebrate a birthday. I had heard many things about this restaurant, but it lived up to an exceeded all of my expectations. You walk into an exquisite dining hall and open bar area. The ambience is very modern yet upscale and everything has been put into with extreme detail from the lighting fixtures to the tiles to even the uniforms that the staff wears. First, the experience is one worth waiting for and we had to wait 20 minutes even with the reservation but well worth the wait. Grab your reservations early in the week as they get filled up very quickly. The staff was super friendly and always accommodating at all times of service. We started with french fries, oysters, pullover, bread. The oysters were very fresh and had a nice salty taste of them. The fries were thicker cut, but they still worked with the garlic aïoli. The best of the three was the pullover bread, which is flaky yet light and has a great crunchy texture to it. It comes with an amazing butter spread that they provide. I ordered the rigatoni à la vodka pasta with chicken, and the special was a truffle mushroom risotto, which had an extreme depth the flavor. First, the rigatoni, it was a creamy spicy sauce, and the pasta was cooked al dente which helped it not become soggy and the flavors were immense with aromas of tomato and cheese and spice. The mushroom risotto had like seven layers of depth you got the creaminess and the mushroom and the truffle cutting through all of it there's a little sweet tone to it and it just paired really well. We ended with the white chocolate cake, which was a perfect amount of cream to cake ratio and the taste was very vanilla, had raspberry syrup which cut through the sweetness and the cake layers were very airy. Nicole was our server and she was excellent! Her service was detailed oriented and thoughtful. She was always cutting our food and plating it. Coming back to check in on us in a non intrusive manner. She also surprised us with a champagne toast and dessert for our celebration. Starters: - Mediterranean Salad was crisp and tangy! - Focaccia was perfectly airy. - Grilled octopus: perfected the char + served with squid ink pasta of some sorts that's so delicious and a mix of pasta meets a little crunch. Mains: - The tomahawk Wagyu 32 oz was perfectly fatty with a crispy exterior - not chewy. Just melts. - Rigatoni alla vodka was so creamy and ever so slightly al dente! - Sides were light and not overpowering (mushrooms, carrots and fries). Chianti was excellent. Dry. Tasty. We spent a mint on a uber ride from downtown here but we loved it. Started off with the popovers and the Wagyu pigs in a blanket. Then we had some onion soup, the filet sliders and a Wagyu smash burger. All exceptional. My filet slider were simple and so good. Cooked exactly like it like the soup had a depth of flavor we loved. And the popover with the butter so good. The piggies were good but not anything different then I made them. The martinis are top notch and the presentation is great. The place is huge too. We got a late reservation for Sunday on Memorial Day weekend. This place is exactly what the area needs. Top notch service and high quality offerings. It was a lively crowd with people really looking their best at a destination spot. Seated promptly at reservation time. A nice cocktail menu with interesting offerings, we enjoyed a Tuscan Red wine by the glass and a craft IPA. Our party first tried the focaccia- crusty, warm (hot actually) served with high quality olive oil and ricotta spread. We had the Village salad, which was nice as well. It was described as 'shareable' and they did split it, but I thought it was on the small side. One Waygu Ribeye, Steak Frites and Prime Rib were ordered. Manager came to the table shortly after to explain that they were out of prime rib, it was late already, so understandable and not a problem. We changed to a NY strip steak. Everyone ordered fries, which were outstanding. No other sides caught our eye. Steak Frites was a skirt steak, served with peppercorn sauce and an unexpectedly large portion of 'frites'. Cooked perfectly medium rare, if you like skirt steak you won't be disappointed. Waygu and Strip also perfectly cooked, served with roasted garlic which was a nice touch. We ordered 2 desserts since we were undecided (although very full) and the server said they were comping one due to the Prime Rib being out. This is what quality restaurants do- exceed expectations. Both desserts were great and enjoyed. There are soooo many items on the well rounded menu that sounded interesting, we look forward to sampling them in the future. During my initial visit to this steak establishment, I found the experience satisfactory, although it did not compare favorably to the renowned steakhouses in the city. Upon our arrival, the host informed us that we were early and suggested that we go to the bar to obtain drinks. He then proceeded to tie his shoe and did not escort us to the bar. I found this behavior somewhat unusual. My wife opted for a cocktail, while I enjoyed an espresso martini, both of which were enjoyable. For appetizers, we chose the gyure cheese bread and pigs in the blanket neither my wife nor I found these appetizers particularly memorable it was edible. For the main course, we ordered the tomahawk steak for two. Although the steak was of good quality, I felt that the meat was excessively fatty. The mashed potatoes and twice-baked potato were the standout dishes of the meal. For dessert, we indulged in a vanilla cake, which was quite satisfactory. The service provided was exceptional, but considering the price, I would prefer to dine at a city steakhouse in the future. read more

One of the best meals I've ever had. Adam was a great server and the manager checked on us in a caring and respectful way. All of the staff gave us a lot of attention without being annoying - it made me feel special. Beat salad is unreal - smooth, refreshing and a little sweet with the dates, never had anything like it. Octopus was cooked just right. The Wagyu ribeye - just amazing, as you'd expect at this point. The potato puree, man that's special. Came here on a Friday night with a reservation for four people at 6:15 PM. It is located in the big Arboretum of South Barrington and although you would think there were lots of parking spaces during peak times it is very hard to find a parking space and you will hike to the restaurant. Upon entering, there were people waiting to greet me. They were very gracious, and they actually walked me directly to my table because my party was already there. The service all evening was absolutely fantastic. I wish I remembered our waiters name. The menu is fantastic with a lot of classics and staples that you would expect in a steakhouse as well as one with this Italian influence. Portions are pretty fair, although I would say some things like the salad are on the smaller side I personally got the steak and frites and it was perfection The mushroom risotto was also delicious but a bit salty, but I would still order it and eat it the next time The cake was ridiculously huge and it had the sparkler because we were celebrating a friend's birthday My only complaint about this place is the fact that it is so dark and they try to cram in so many tables and our table happen to be right next to one of the bars which was also totally full and also part of our table backed up to main aisles of traffic and our chairs were getting bumped all night Further to get to the restroom, you literally had to go from our side of the restaurant to the complete opposite side of the restaurant to get to the restaurants. That was absurd because you were literally walking through so many people's tables breathing on their food, hearing their conversations and that is not pleasant. They really need to reconfigure the floor plan the placement of tables and chairs or do something. read more

We enjoyed an anniversary dinner at the Greggory, and it's the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion. Having never been there, I was first amazed at the size of the building and the large dining and bar areas. The entire space is sectioned off into smaller areas to both reduce noise and provide a more intimate setting. Every space is equally gorgeous with every detail executed to perfection. Our waiter, Adam, greeted us with both a smile and immediate assurance that he will guarantee an outstanding evening for us - and that it was. The gryuere popover starter was mouthwatering. Our beet salad was refreshing and plentiful for both of us to split one. My Halibut was delicious with a delightful blend of spices and a scrumptious vegetable accompaniment. And my FRIES! I could have made a meal of those all by themselves. To finish, we had the chocolate praline cake with hot fudge sauce. AMAZING. A night to remember! read more

Late post We came here last night for dinner to celebrate our nephew's birthday. This restaurant is located in The Arboretum, so parking is ample, but they also have valet. Ambiance is a mix of casual yet elegant, and we were seated in a half-table, half-booth. The chairs are very comfy. Staff is welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. I don't remember the name of our waiter, but I think it was John? (sorry) He was great at answering all of our questions and gave his personal recommendations, which we appreciated. Appetizers: Gruyère popover rolls, crabmeat and avocado, and grilled Spanish octopus. Entrees: I ordered the salmon, hubby ordered the filet mignon, niece ordered the Wagyu beef tartare and bone marrow, and nephew ordered the bone-in ribeye. Sides: mushrooms and fries. Drink: Toki sour The crabmeat was very meaty, and the octopus was extremely tender. All of our entrees were just as delicious! Everything was done to perfection! We didn't order dessert because we were full, but we wanted our nephew to at least get something, even though he isn't big on sweets. But he declined, and our waiter was generous in removing one drink from our tab. We don't live in the area, but I do recommend giving this place a try. read more
