Everything was delicious! Our server was very kind. She thought of everything we wanted for a wonderful dinner. The restaurant is also very clean and there is beautiful artwork everywhere. I usually stop in on the monthly Salsa Night and always have a great time. The food is decent. I tried the skinny margarita and like it more than the flavored margaritas. My party of 2 visited El Patron for an early weekday dinner. I ordered the Chicken Chimichanga which is my go-to meal whenever I first eat at a Mexican restaurant. I also ordered a Chile Relleno. The other guest had fajitas with shrimp and steak. All of the food was decent, not great. I ordered a margarita and upgraded the tequila to Patron. The food is pretty dang good, & the people are kind. However if you think you're going to spend no more than 20$ a person, you'd probably be wrong. As everything these days, inflation has made it tough to make this a weekly occurrence. Food was sub par and very bland. Decor is kitchie which was cool but music is way too loud. Chips are like extra ordinarily hard. Needs seasoning. Frozen Marg was ok. Overall lunch to 2 with 1 drink not worth $70.00. Server was not extraordinarily attentive. She refilled Diet Coke with sweet tea. This is the coldest restaurant I've ever been to. The good. My favorite thing to get a Mexican restaurant is flautas or taquitos. And that's what I got. I would give it a three out of five...the flautas were good, but I didn't really care for the and how they placed their salad that goes with it. It so that's nice for anyone who enjoys salsa. We have been here twice and have had good experiences both times. Not outstanding, but solid. Can't give them 3.5 stars so I'm rounding up. The chips were a little stale, but the salsa was fantastic. The menu is lengthy. They have a number of unique dishes (check out the seafood section) that many Mexican restaurants don't, some creative spins on the basic stuff. I had a Pina Rellena, which was a hollowed out pineapple which was stuffed with shrimp, crab, scallops, and octopus (!!) with mushrooms and cheese then baked. It's like a big pineapple bowl filled with hot cheesy seafood. Wonderful! My wife had the Tacos de Rey and enjoyed them. One thing to note, love it or hate it, they have live music on Friday and Saturday nights and the whole center of the restaurant has the tables pushed back to make a dance floor. People were out there line dancing the first time we were there. Just a couple folks the second time (we were eating early dinner). I don't mind live music, but both bands were playing party time, wedding reception, three-chord, dance music!! When I go to a Mexican restaurant I expect to hear mariachi music, not Jimmy Buffett. I don't mind the music, but it makes for a weird scene. Of course since the music is live it is also LOUD. The band tonight acknowledged the volume level and they were obviously trying not to blow people out of the room, but it was still too loud for us to carry on a conversation at our table. I tried this restaurant when it first opened; they had a lot of kinks to work out so decided to give them time. Went today for the second chance and let me say, there are tooo many Mexican restaurants in Slidell to except anything but stellar service. It was empty just before 5, but it took several minutes for sometime to take our drink order. Once we ordered, the food came quickly but our server didn't. She didn't check on us nor give the usual thank you for dining. No one gave the farewell greeting that makes you feel appreciated for stopping by. Those small details will make me go elsewhere. Ordered lunch p27. Supposed to grilled chicken with poblano pepper and cream. With extra plate to split with my mom. No extra plate was brought took her 5 min to bring the plate. When we started to separate the food we noticed that the order was wrong. What we received was grilled chicken mushrooms and spinach. Tried to get attention no one at the bar the place was empty. Disgusting! It took forever for the waitress to even come back and when we told her that the plate was incorrect she went to get the manager because we had pushed all the mushrooms and stuff to the side and ate the Grilled chicken because it literally took that long. Don't know why all the hate on here about this place. My coworker and I came to find some Mexican food. Salsa is like Chilis salsa. The cheese dip wasn't velveeta and had decent flavor. I ordered the fajitas and they had a good flavor, co worker had the Baja tacos and enjoyed. I knew what we were getting into just by the decor. Service was on point and we were very satisfied. If you haven't tried this place yet you are missing out. They have had some issues in the past with slow service, but I think that has been resolved. They have a really great lunch menu. First time here, party of six on a Saturday evening. The restaurant looks great. We waited just inside for a couple of minutes. When the manager saw us waiting he came over and seated us. Starting off, this was their grand opening 11am Apr 24th 2023. Servers were still learning the computer systems and restaurant layout. If you don't have company or a guest you'll certainly feel neglected/lonely when it comes to their server attentiveness. All in all the experience is truly a cut above mediocre. I got the rib-eye steak Mexican style came with rice and beans with onion and a chile toreado plus my corn tortillas it was very tasty the last plate my daughter ordered the enchilada dinner . We've gone to this restaurant three time and pretty much ordered the same thing each time. In our opinion, the food is average compared to simular dishes experenced in SoCal where we live. However, compared to the food we've experienced at other Mexican Restaurants in the area we consider it being the best. The restaurant is located in the same building where the prior establishment was Saltgrass Steakhouse. The building is very clean, the service was exceptional and the prices are very reasonable. The most impressive thing about the restaurant that will conintue to bring us back are the margaritas. They are over the top! Infact, probably the best we've had in our numerous travels throughout the west and southwest where mexican restaurants are prevalent. We high recomend. read more

I can say this with as much sincerity please avoid this place! I could say my food was wrong, cold and was forced on me to eat it when they admitted it was wrong. I spoke to the manager and he admitted it was wrong but, that's just the problem he did nothing . This is a knock off building with horrible food, long wait and god awful food.
