I usually stop in on the monthly Salsa Night and always have a great time. The food is decent. I tried the skinny margarita and like it more than the flavored margaritas. It tastes more authentic in my opinion . The servers are usually Pretty attentive as well. The restaurant is pretty large and restrooms are clean. I'd recommend it for a fun night in Slidell

My party of 2 visited El Patron for an early weekday dinner. I ordered the Chicken Chimichanga which is my go-to meal whenever I first eat at a Mexican restaurant. I also ordered a Chile Relleno. The other guest had fajitas with shrimp and steak. All of the food was decent, not great. I ordered a margarita and upgraded the tequila to Patron. I'm 100% certain that I didn't get what I paid for because the margarita tasted like a typical, cheap house margarita (which was disappointing).

We have been here twice and have had good experiences both times. Not outstanding, but solid. Can't give them 3.5 stars so I'm rounding up. The chips were a little stale, but the salsa was fantastic. The menu is lengthy. They have a number of unique dishes (check out the seafood section) that many Mexican restaurants don't, some creative spins on the basic stuff. I had a Pina Rellena, which was a hollowed out pineapple which was stuffed with shrimp, crab, scallops, and octopus (!!) with mushrooms and cheese then baked. It's like a big pineapple bowl filled with hot cheesy seafood. Wonderful! My wife had the Tacos de Rey and enjoyed them. One thing to note, love it or hate it, they have live music on Friday and Saturday nights and the whole center of the restaurant has the tables pushed back to make a dance floor. People were out there line dancing the first time we were there. Just a couple folks the second time (we were eating early dinner). I don't mind live music, but both bands were playing party time, wedding reception, three-chord, dance music!! When I go to a Mexican restaurant I expect to hear mariachi music, not Jimmy Buffett. I don't mind the music, but it makes for a weird scene. Of course since the music is live it is also LOUD. The band tonight acknowledged the volume level and they were obviously trying not to blow people out of the room, but it was still too loud for us to carry on a conversation at our table. Hence the rating. Good food, loud music, weird vibe. No reason not to go, but be prepared. Your results may vary

I came on a Friday evening to have dinner with coworkers. The live band was certainly a statement. The food was good, the drink refills and chip supply was quick and good. Everything seemed to be clean. The restrooms were fully stocked and clean. Lots of parking.

Food was decent. I had the street tacos with pastor and Barbacoa- I've had better. Drinks were good as well. I will go again

Food, service and atmosphere were great. Prices were reasonable for amount of food presented.

New Location: Gorgeous. Large. Clean from what i can tell. I…read morego every other week. But - staff badly needs service industry training including manager/owner. They are nice, but clueless. Inattentive. Food is very decent. Good complimentary salsa & charbroiled beans with chips. Sometimes chips taste burnt oil. Go for taco Tuesday a lot. Have bands & $1.50 street tacos if order minimum 4. They're good. Only Taco Tuesday deal on tacos in Slidell I've found besides Tacos & Beer (ew) $1 tacos. Drinks are overpriced. Cocktail/beer menu not detailed enough with prices or ingredient description. Margaritas 2 for 1 sometimes and on taco Tuesday BUT they are cheap syrup instead of lime juice. Then barely shaken or cold. I disliked frozen and regular. Servers aren't trained well or familiar with menu or prices so you're on your own as far as familiarizing yourself with any specials and advocating for drinks refills or literally anything else you need. Double check your bill before you pay ive been given wrong ticket for another table multiple times. They also have issues honoring Toast loyalty program with points you build up. If server cant figure it out, ask for manager... who is capable of figuring it out but doesnt want to comp you coupons if the machine doesnt do it automatically. If anyone wants vegetarian options aka grilled veggoes or something be prepared for them to completely upcharge that more than the price of meat for a few skimpy onions... no sizzling fajita veggie selection like other places. Also, always out of the tajín and candy for micheladas. Always forget the pineapples that are supposed to come on al pastor tacos. Just ask for it. PS also good $ deal on the street tacos on uber eats & door dash compared to other places. Birthdays get complimentary scoop of ice cream and singing with decorative accessories worn by servers and sombrero for you. Old Location: New Place. First time there. Staff friendly & quick even though only 2 people were front of house. About 8 tables full at a time on Wednesday night.. Ambience cute for small space, nicely decorated inside & out. Food, horchata & michelada really good ! Food plated nicely. Birria plate on big cutting board with sauces. Churro share portion set up on cute cart. All good! Just recommend getting bottled beverage or horchata b/c tap water & fountain drinks tasted weird water.

Homemade corn tortillas, fresh and crunchy tortilla chips, salsa, and beans. I had the carne asada and it came fully loaded with sizzling skillet of onions, guacamoles sour cream, pico, and cactus. Their top shelf margarita really packed a punch. With all the seafood choices I am still concerned about the oil spills in the gulf, I am still reluctant to eat any of it. So glad I picked this place. Top notch food.
